I haven't been a fan of Rashford for a while and I think we have over-indulged him to an extent whereby he has completely lost the optics on what is important. At the same time, what is in the past, is in the past. I don't understand ripping him apart when new manager hasn't even set a foot in.

I still think we should cut our losses and move him on in the summer but until then he has a very long period of time to show he deserves to play for the club.

He's probably thinking, " ffs, I've gotta start looking like I'm trying for a bit now, sheesh".

Even if you set aside the attitude and assume the new boss can overcome that, he's never been particularly gifted technically, instead relying on pace. As others point out, that appears to have faded in recent times - perhaps because of injury, which can happen. The fact he hasn't really adapted his game to develop in other areas to compensate for that has been disappointing.

He's quite a tall player, he could/should have developed into a player with intimidating physical presence in the box, but even in that area he's wilted rather than developed, now seemingly allergic to most forms of physical interaction on the field. He would have benefited maybe not having the 30 goal a season period, the slump coming earlier in his development and that acting as a motivation to adapt his game.

I don't think physically he can do what he did two or three years ago, but the problem is now he can't really be anything else. For the occasional match, maybe even very seldomly a short burst of games, it might work. But for the long-term someone should have been pushing down the pathway of adapting his game.

Football is full of players who look so promising aged 22 with pace to spare who by the time they're 28 look clapped out. I wonder why more aren't coached on basis that their speed is often only a fleeting asset not something to build their whole game around to the exclusion of everything else.

Best case he improves and turns out to be the player we all hoped he'd be

Worst case he doesn't and management fecks him off.

He needs to go, I don't have the same strong dislike some United fans have but he did ten hag no favours in the past few seasons and the problem is even if the manager drops him for a lack of effort it becomes a big drama in the media all too often, when these scenarios happened under fergie he would ship them out.

Last chance saloon for Marcus. If it’s not working under Amorim then he needs take his obvious talent elsewhere. Maybe another Club can get the best out of him.

These systems can't carry players. Whatever you want to say about Ten Hag's tactics the press had to carry Rashford. When you compared him to someone like David Neres under Ten Hag the latter was so much more aggressive with his pressing and general play. Amorim's Sporting also have an effective press where every player presses. Amorim cannot sacrifice the integrity of his tactics to accomodate a player who doesn't press effecticely and won't guarantee goals or performances.

I keep saying this on all threads. We owe Rashy, Shaw, Mount and Antony a combined 140M or so in salaries. Salaries they will never get anywhere else.
I doubt they are going anywhere.

Rashford, Shaw and Antony do need to go at this point though. This is where Ineos really need to prove themselves as will be a difficult task.

If they're unwilling to take pay cuts and other teams are unwilling to match their salaries, then how do YOU propose ineos get rid of them?

This is correct, I can imagine Antony maybe getting loaned out then sold similar to sancho but the rest will be hanging around for a while

New day new coach for Rashy. What a job these players have. Earn millions without accountability.

Can only imagine rival fans think of him like we used to with Walcott wondering why Arsenal are sticking with him for so long despite so clearly being not up to standard

I've said on other threads that the only place I see him getting a game in 343 is as the central strike but I can't see it working. He has a fantastic shot on him but there's no chance of him battling through to win the ball by running channels up top.

As all the players who play with him say, he's the most talented player at the club. Let's see what he can do under a real manager. The last one can thank him for all those nice memories from his first season where he kept him in a job. Shame, he rewarded him by playing him further and further away from where he's actually an affective player. Interesting to see if the YouTube tacticos know what they're talking about... though there's enough of them now that support pretty much any argument under the sun.

Funny how its always a clean slate for Rashy. New season is a clean slate. New manager is a clean slate. Luke Shaw coming back from injury, another clean slate.

Wonder how long it will be till Amorin isn’t considered a real manager, and (insert latest managerial name) is the one to fix what’s wrong with the squad and especially Rashford.

Do have to wonder where he will find himself if we do go 343 as surely Bruno occupies one of those 2 spaces behind the striker. You’ve then got Garnacho to compete with and Amad is probably more suited to playing the role. Would need to deliver mind but hopefully we see more of the Rashford from the last few weeks.

Rúbin might tweak his system to accommodate him but looking forward to seeing what he does or even if he does try to implement his 343 straight away or leave it till next season.

Depends how long it takes him to poke a donut in the midfield and revert to a sub Ole Gunnar Solskjær style of play. Think it took the last guy a few weeks.

He has improved on his long range passing over the last few years. As his pace continues to wane, I think we'll see him make use of his crossing more often.

Man Utd 1:1 Chelsea New
He is one of the laziest individuals I can recall watching in my 25+ years of watching football.

Hands on knees, bent over after 10mins.

Either use him beside Hojland or drop him. His decline is incredible. Looks lazy and sluggish too.

Should be dropped but lack of alternatives means he'll play every week.

Another lazy Sunday walk in the park.

Miles better than Garnacho yet gets subbed off every single game he must be sick of it. The posters complaining about laziness must've been watching something else, Rashford did his job today. Too bad our managers can't see that getting him the chances we regularly waste would make us win more games.

He looks in poor physical condition. Knackered 15 minutes into the game and the pace seems to have left him.

He worked hard tonight and was our best attacking player?

Did he shite. Didn’t track back once in the first 20 minutes and gave Gusto a field day.

Cucurella got away from him on two or three occasions, too.

Bruno was our best attacking player, albeit not a ringing endorsement.

I've watched him closing down an opposition keeper freeing up an outfield player in the process for a few years now. It's incredible.

Simply not good enough and not enough effort. He doesn't look like he can keep up with the PL anymore.

Honestly, you could say he was alright today, but the problem is that he should be judged at a higher level than other attackers aside from Bruno, given he's a senior player on very high wages. In that context he's still not offering nearly enough.

Looked good left wing and bizarrely switched after about 30 minutes. Did a reasonable job without anything special once he switched to the right. Hard to follow why he was subbed when Garnacho was having a shocker but maybe he’s carrying a bit of a knock.

Even with his flaws, he’s our only attacker capable of beating his man (which in itself is an indictment of our squad building). Didn’t exactly set the world alight today but he worked harder than usual and showed some of his old self beating Gusto and forcing what should have been a clear penalty.

Best attacker on the night and still our most threatening player in the squad - which says something. The only player who can beat a defender with skill.

Beat Gusto with some nice skill for the penalty situation. Hit the woodwork.

Agreed with the physical condition. He’s been subbed in every PL game this season. I don’t think his body can take 90 min games anymore. Or he’s carrying another knock.
