Seeing all the above quotes it doesn’t matter if it was a month ago or not it was their initial demand. You can see people’s views at that price.
Ornstein confirmed today that PSG wanted 60M fixed, we negotiated for 50M+10M. Its not a bad deal, but I dont see it as a great bargain/price as some are saying either. I dont care either way now, just glad this saga is over. Its his performances which will tell us whether we got a good deal.

The fee is still far from ideal IMO, and I've discussed his limitations as a player several times in this thread, but the club obviously know way more than any of us in here, and they seem to be sure that Ugarte is the player to go for this summer. I hope he proves me wrong, but I think a new defensive midfielder will still be needed relatively soon, probably next summer, to be honest. I'd also like to see one more midfielder arrive this summer in addition to Ugarte, who's a good passer and can play Mainoo's position in the XI. If that doesn't happen, Mainoo will have to play 50+ games this season, which isn't ideal.

The best teams don’t play with specialist ball winners now. Not the ones who dominate possession - Arsenal, City, Real etc. They don’t need them as their tactical set up and quality of defenders negates the need for one.
Our tactical set up is shite and we have inadequate defenders so we actually need a specialist ball winner.
I mean Declan rice exists.

You mention city and Madrid, if we had the depth of quality in every position they have then sure but that's not exactly feasible is it? You can't have a dig at the manager for not having Madrid/city esque players, and it's certainly not because of the way he's inadequately built the team as you say.

Is there any info on what his wages are going to be?
Hopefully it's not another Unflushable on ridiculous wages.

Needed more depth in the position. Neither of our starting two midfield can do it for 90 minutes, let alone back to back games.

Would worry a lot about the number of cards he gets at United. Different game with a lot of those sorts of fouls he can make when you are at United I'm afraid. Look forward to seeing some new blood, and hopefully energy, in midfield though.

Did we check if his dad is obese or not?

Worryingly bald

Delighted to see this lad coming in, should bring some much needed bite to the midfield. Plenty of fight at the back now between de Ligt, Martinez & Ugarte.

In the context of that list, €50m+€10m seems fair.
Well when I look at midfielders listed as defensive midfielders that moved this window:
Neves - €59.92m
Onana - €59.35m
Palhinha - €51.00m
Wieffer - €32.00m
Skipp €23.50m
Fofana €20.00m

Then CMs around this price or below:
Luiz €51.50m
Gallagher €42.00m
Gray €41.25m
Anderson €41.20m
Dewsbury-Hall €35.4m

I’d say €50m guaranteed is fine.

Wasted our budget on a signing that changes nothing. Anyways, welcome abroad Manuel.
For someone who's watched him enough, which current or past players does he compare to?
This is hilarious but it always reflects on most of Ugarte's critics in this thread. The part they don't do is openly admit to this within two posts of each other. So daft.

Start Ugarte against Liverpool....

Casemiro immediately realises in training he's going to be sidelined the rest of the season.....

He then explores leaving before Fridays deadline.....

If he leaves, we then sign Amrabat as the 2nd choice CDM on a permanent deal.

When this season is over, we now have our new Malian CDM who is now ready to support Ugarte the following season and compete with Amrabat for the 2nd choice CDM position.

Neves is the deal that sticks out there. Definitely some type of backroom deal underpinning that price.

The rest show it's a reasonable transfer fee for a 23-year-old with high level experience, and a fantastic attitude, in a position of need.

The fact we've sold McTominay and Hannibal for a combined price of around £35 million in the opposite direction makes it even more reasonable.

Palhinha an obvious comparison given one replaced the other at Sporting. And I'd certainly prefer to buy a 23 year old Ugarte for €50m+ over a 29 year old Palhinha for approx the same.

There's the potential of Ugarte helping us squeeze the most of what's left of Casemiro. It's not a train smash if he stays.

Ugarte won't start at the weekend. De Ligt can't even start a game yet

Him next to Mainoo and another passing midfielder would be great. But that requires dropping Bruno and Mount, as there'd be more control that way.

That makes me feel better about the fee to be fair.

Finally! Glad it's done, will be a big boost to the squad, missing his kinda profile for a while now.

Don't get the comparison to Scotty. He's a DM and Scotty is a SS/CAM, at least the way we utilised him. We shouldn't have been relying on him for the goals, they should come from our other attacking threats.

Think we'll see him get a few minutes this weekend and then start after the break. Like Nous and Antony before, ETH won't take time to bed him in, we don't have an alternative profile to him.

Not in E10Hag's mind but have a feeling with Ugarte we could see Mount, Bruno and Ugarte as the mid 3. Something you probably can't do with Casemiro because whilst he has amazing positioning he is slow. Maybe Ugarte unlocks anothet tactical approach to our gameplans

Great news! Building an excellent side here, and have an excellent group to go for this season now.

70M for Ugarte? So basically they would go ahead and use that 70M to buy Neves instead? No thanks.

Again in July that wasn’t the brief (see your own reaction to reports), what PSG actually wanted and what we paid is also different.

Every reputable source suggested PSG wanted their money back guaranteed and ideally a bit more too.

Please look at the list of movers this window and suggest where you think Ugarte, 23 year old DM/CM should fit in terms of then being good value? Nobody has called him a bargain but I think we’re paying market value for him.

How much in the context of this window (see previous post) do you think he should be going for and why?

I agree with you about wanting another passer (I hope Eriksen leaves and we do something clever here).

Agreed. I mean I’d love Neves, but I don’t see where he would fit into our side and having two 19 year olds running CM in the PL would just be a disaster.

I think if anyone fairly looks at that list they should reach the conclusion this is market value for a good player.

Exactly my thoughts here too. Palhinha is the deal our previous regime would have sanctioned but we’re getting a high energy pressing and ball winning midfielder entering their peak years.
