Fresh off the bench and beaten in a sprint by the Chelsea centre back says it all. To have such a lack of pace, to succeed, a forward player would need to have a very high technical ability (eg berbatov). Not seeing it at all. The worst signing by Ineos so far.

My guess is that our reputation as a mess probably means we could get 30+ for him from Italy and basically sell him without a loss after a year of amortization.

Turns out those stats guys know what they're talking about sometimes when they say he was a player whose analytical profile showed absolutely nothing before he was signed. Decent link up guy who is physically not suited to premier league football. Needs a slower and more relaxed league where his little touches and composure can make their mark. Not going to last here.
Douglas Luiz seems to be having a nightmare there. A swap might genuinely make sense for both sides in the summer if both guys are still floundering.
Luiz is a fairly logical type (prem-proven, 26) to rotate with and eventually give way to Mainoo as our #8 type, then sign an Ugarte challenger/rotator unless one is getting promoted (in which case maybe Casemiro hangs on for one final year, that's dependent on a Saudi/other offer and him wanting to go anyways).

The boy is young and has a lot of natural qualities, pace is obviously not one of them. He’s early 20’s? Maybe the reason he looks so rubbish is due to the overall quality of the team? Doesn’t have any urgency or intensity in his game. Without that, he will not succeed here. Unfortunately, it seems like it’s one of those things you either have or you don’t.
Even if he comes good, I don't think he'll ever be much of a goalscorer, which just makes it even more puzzling why we signed him when this team is so painfully desperate for a clinical striker.
