Hoijlund only won it because Sanchez decided to be stupid.
I am not saying Hojlund was great. But compared to him, Zirkzee was playing a different sport in perhaps a whole different universe. It was his touch that got us the penalty even though it was largely down to Sanchez making a silly dive.

Selling McTominay and bringing Zirkzee in was a backwards step. Both are limited players, but McTominay at least offered a goal threat.

i’ve seen dutch elms with more match awareness. and move faster.

He’s simply awful. Genuinely looks like a fan who’s won a competition to play with professionals. There’s absolutely no way he’s going to make it at United or the PL. Needs binning off as soon as humanly possible.

Looks like an absolutely astonishing buy. Højlund is struggling, but Zirkzee is somehow half the player.

He's fecking useless, offers absolutely feck all. Whoever signed him needs to made culpable because he's a great big waste of money, bet his agent is pissing his sides we paid him £12m for the privilege too.

I don't know what he is but this fella doesn't have any of the instincts of a striker. I find it difficult to see how he'll find his feet here, he looks well off it.

It was a shame Hojlund had just came off when Zirkzee got the chance on the counter. It might've led to something with a quicker player on the end of it.

Like playing Onana up front. He looks unathletic and sloppy. Real concern that there isn't really much to work with there to mould a Premier League forward.

Cash in. Hes shite. Makes Antony look value for money.

Pace and intensity in Premier League is so different to Serie A and he's still struggling with it. Same (but to lesser extent) can be said about Hojlund, so perhaps Zirkzee can adapt. He's still youngish player and it's his first season in PL so won't expect much from him.

Who's going to give us cash for what he's serving up? I'd say just offload him to whoever for whatever we can get even if it's 15m, and get in a proper striker in January.

He’ll be back on loan in Italy next summer.

Slow, clumsy and awkward. He reminds me of how Rutter looked in his first season at Leeds.

Surely Ethan Wheatley at this stage should be being considered. Zirskee is offering no threat at all.

Have to give him time to get up to speed, but the early signs aren’t good.

I’ve had the chance to go to a few National League games this year. I think even at that level the pyramid the intensity would give him problems. No doubt he’d do well in that league, anytime the game has a real intensity to it he’d go missing, like he does with us in the PL.

Can’t pin defenders or win aerial duels consistently. Coupled with no pace whatsoever and a lack of conviction in front of goal, I really struggle to see what there is to work with. Confidence doesn’t account for the physicality deficiencies.

We’ve had substandard players in our squad that have some utility in other ways - Dan James with his pace, Wan-Bissaka with 1v1 defending, Mctominay with his crashing the box.

Sadly, there is little to nothing of note that he does that can be utilised in a functional sense.

Really frustrating to see his lack of holdup play. Hojlund was hacked to feck all game, arguably had a bad whistle, but he won plenty of freekicks and held the ball well.

Zirkzee, who should be more physically suited to that job, just got outmuscled and outworked every time the ball went up to him

Really weak, poor and slow. I highly doubt he comes good and another player we need to get rid soon enough.

Looks completely out of place there. Very slow with not even decent work rate to compensate for it. I don't know what exactly is wrong with him, looks like he could lose some weight.

Hoijlund only won it because Sanchez decided to be stupid.
This is such a crap way to look at anything. We only scored the pen because Sanchez dived the wrong way.

Hojlund made it happen regardless of how stupid it might be from the keeper.

Ive never seen a striker score on his debut, only for his confidence to fall through the floor. So terrible today - it may in part be that we don't know how or where to play him to get the most from him, but missing the basics today

The fact he is Dutch, and Weghorst was choosen ahead of him at the Euros were massive red flags, as were his stats in Italy.

Happy to see what Amorim can do with him as his confidence is clearly really low, but it's hard to see it working out.

It's not stupid, it's literally what happened. Hoijlund's touch made it unlikely he was going to score.
