Won't be leaving Everton then
If they have it sorted why are they in real danger of going into the new season with a player that patently doesn't want to be there and played like it last season?. Their fans also mostly want him gone.Everton have it sorted. Ask a silly fee for a vastly overrated player knowing no one will pay it and keep him.
Going to check blue moon and no doubt see posts of 'isn't worth it anyway'

We want the lad but not at any cost. Between the players already at the club (and maybe City also have a Plan B option from another club in mind if the Stones bid fails) surely we should be able to get by until the very promising Adarabioyo and Humphries enter the picture?
He didn't look like he didn't want to be there. In fact the first game after the window closed was Everton vs Chelsea and that was arguably a monstrous performance that got most understanding why mourinho wanted him. He then gradually slipped in form and made lots and lots of errors. It wasn't because he didn't want to be there but because he wasn't actually good. To me it seemed like he got a bit overconfident at being touted for 40M+ and the whole 'ball playing CB who is the future Rio' tag which made him do stupid stuff like try to do tricks instead of merely passing the ball to safety.
And city are desperate imo. There are few defenders of the ilk that pep wants and stones is the closest and available. Pep doesn't seem to be the one to buy a nobody from championship and all so it's a small pool.
It sounds like you've seen more of Everton and Stones last season than me and maybe you're right about his motivations, although I do speak to quite a few match-going Toffees at work and many would dispute your view.

Would rather he went now he's had a cob on for a season or more.I think its poker and City will blink, we are sorting out a replacement before we sanction a sale.
Goodbye John.
He'll go, there is always a stage in a deal like this where there is a contrived impasse as part of the courting between the clubs. It suits both to do a deal and I don't want JS here as it's clear he wants off.
That was their opening bid, not their final one. I do wish the media would employ people savvy enough to read between the lines and not act as unofficial spokesmen for clubs they are trying to curry favour with.
So to summarise, it's my belief that a parting of the ways is in the best interests of all parties and this will happen. City will increase their offer a bit but not to the asking price so both negotiating teams will come out of the process looking that they did OK.
Not sure that Stones is consciously trying to live up to any tag. Some pundits have thrown in the Rio comparison as that's what readers/viewers want to see but that's just them trying to produce interesting copy or programming.
Haha. Shots fired.I totally agree but I did for a moment think you were talking about pogba.
Think he'll be a fantastic signing for them eventually, won't be an overnight success, but in 5 years time it'll look like an absolute bargain.
Would be the worst transfer in football history.Send Mata to Everton as part of the deal and sign Stones now. He is already a very good player and I can see him get even better.
He really isn't at the moment but he has the talent to be just that.Send Mata to Everton as part of the deal and sign Stones now. He is already a very good player and I can see him get even better.
You must have just started watching footballWould be the worst transfer in football history.
Swapping Mata for StonesYou must have just started watching football
Swapping Mata for Stones
Swapping Mata for Stones
He also said 'as a part of the deal' which indicates that would be money to follow too, probably from our side.
Which is pure lunacy.
player swaps are myths and yes I'm aware of Zlatan and EtooSend Mata to Everton as part of the deal and sign Stones now. He is already a very good player and I can see him get even better.
If Mata was put up for sale, we will not get close to what we paid for him, even in this inflated market. If Everton put Stones up for sale, there will no shortage of clubs willing to pay record fee for a defender.
Not saying like for like swap, but there has been plenty of transfer with players going the other wayplayer swaps are myths and yes I'm aware of Zlatan and Etoo
There will be others. Chelsea were willing to pay close to that last yearWell it seems thar city are the only one willing to pay record fee for him
plenty? like which? I knew you meant player plus cash, but Honestly, this hardly ever happens. Not saying like for like swap, but there has been plenty of transfer with players going the other way
Am giving you 2 of our own examples even though they were not sales. When we signed Berbatov, we sent Frazier Campbell the other way, also when we signed Rojo, we sent Nani to Sporting.plenty? like which? I knew you meant player plus cash, but Honestly, this hardly ever happens.
so you think we will loan Mata to Everton as a way to sweeten the deal for us to buy stones? not gonna happen mateAm giving you 2 of our own examples even though they were not sales. When we signed Berbatov, we sent Frazier Campbell the other way, also when we signed Rojo, we sent Nani to Sporting.
We are not buying Stones, but that would be the first thing I do.so you think we will loan Mata to Everton as a way to sweeten the deal for us to buy stones? not gonna happen mate
I honestly thought Stones would have wanted a year playing under Koeman. In theory it could of been perfect for his development.
I agree. Obviously playing under Pep is a huge deal itself and playing in a Champions League team competing for titles is hard to pass up but Koeman is one of the all time great ball playing centre backs and Stones could learn a unbelievable amount in even just the one season. To be fair Koeman's arrival has probably eased his fears in the case City do not agree a fee with Everton, I imagine if Martinez was still in charge he'd have handed in a formal transfer request by now and used the media to try and push it through.
I guess you could say that with Stones and Sane they're both talented but also very young and far from a finish product. Is it fair to say most of Pep's signings have been a bit risky?
