Playing for Everton tonight, has there been any updates with him and City?

Similar to Sane, I thought it was supposed to be done after the Euros?

Not much. If Everton sign Kone from Sunderland as they've been linked with him then I'd expect to see some movement. It looks to me like it's playing out like the Sterling deal, only in a more private manner. City bid, Everton want more, City refuse, wait, realise Everton won't budge, pay them what they want.

Long gone are the days when City would just put down what the club wants.

Do you think you'll get him or Sane or both?

Both. The players want to join and the clubs are willing to sell. Just a matter of City agreeing a fee.

BBC: Man City and Everton talk Stones.

Probably about 3 million players as good on the ball in Barca's academy, who can actually defend.

Transfer fees like this are why it's nonsense when people start saying United could sign 3 top players for £100m.

Even their owns fans probably think £50m is too much for Stones when someone like Koulibaly from Napoli could be going for cheaper.

It's a ludicrous amount of money from a defender who has shown nothing as far as I'm concerned. I wonder how much Rio would cost us from our bitter rivals in todays market?

Ludicrous money for Stones, City are bloody mugs when it comes to buying centre backs.

Too much for Stones but still has the potential to be a bloody good player, and he's just the player Pep needs.

I bet most of you have barely watched Koilibaly and are now singing his praises. 40m for Koulibaly is just as insane and 50m for Stones. fecking bonkers.

Great news. Somehow manages to weaken City and Everton at the same time.

Stones is underrated on here. A top coach could really make something of him imo.

I have watched more Serie A games than I did premier league games last season and Koulibaly is a wall whereas Stones had a season not to really shout about.

Not really, he was one of the best defenders in Serie A last season.

This. Could be some humble pie eaten by a few on here in a couple of years time. Think he could've been a great partner for Smalling but then I think the same of Blind, so what do I know?

I really don't rate him. I've said so far before City were linked with us so it's not bitterness talking. I feel he's far too clumsy. Guardiola may coach him well, but at the moment £50million for him is crazy.

Stones is definitely worth £8m more than Mangala.

Just that Mangala was never worth £42m

And equally overrated as well. He's OK.. Laporte is a much better prospect IMO.

He's really overrated everywhere else. He is no where near being good enough to justify 50 million. He's average, mistake prone, but because he can pass the ball that makes him amazing

Yep. He will excel under Guardiola. If he fulfils his potential then £50m for him will be seen as a bargain like the £30m we paid for Ferdinand.

He'll make a few decent passes and will be lauded to the stars by the English media.

Erm, except Stones will never ever, ever will be anywhere Rio's level.

I rarely agree with Paul Merson but he is absolutely right here:

Also he says

'When Routlage makes a run... its not even a run he just runs forward'

It's too much, no doubt, but the type of players Pep needs for his system are part of an extremely select club. With City's problems regarding home/foreign squad balance that reduces our options still further.

If City sign him then I hope you are right. He does remind me a lot of Rio at the same age though, both in playing style and potential.
