If there is no official agreement from Everton, City doing this may get them a transfer ban if Everton acts up?

Think you're clutching at straws there mate ;)

I must admit it's bizarre that this is in the public domain before any official announcement though - UEFA more ITK than City

I just hope it's true. City fans still using the word "potential" just shows how idiotic the price is for this guy. Who cares if he can pass if he can't defend. Might as well play KDB at the back.

Probably delaying the confirmation because they won't get any headlines due to to Pogba signing.

Don't City buy new centre backs every summer? Yet their defence never seems to improve

£50m for a defender who can't defender.. What was it they were all saying about Pogba?

Mangala, Nasri and Bony not in the squad list so they're out (though we already knew that)

Mangala has to be in contention of one of the worst signings ever?

But Kompany is the club and team captain. He's not out for the whole season is he?
This is the squad for the play off, I think... so in that case, injured player not being registered is understandable.

Everton are a bit of a joke. Why the hoopla over Chelsea's interest last summer if they're going to sell him for the same fee a year later?

So much for "Money can't buy you Stones".

SSN now reporting that it was a massive administrative error and the club are trying their best to laugh about it

Think they've realised he isn't all that and would rather cash in now in case he gets exposed as another overrated English prospect next season.

Probably because we thought if we positioned well last season he was more likely to stay. That didn't happen, he has one less year on his contract and was probably refusing to extend it, so if another club is lining up to take him for 40-50m we will gladly accept it. Nothing to do with his ability.

I imagine this deal is completed and we are just waiting till our replacement is sorted. Once that's done both will be announced.

You've done well to get £50million for him. You can sign a more effective defender (who's perhaps not as good on the ball) for less than half that amount.

How much did we pay for Bailly? Be interesting how those two compare this year

Everton have changed owner since then, it's a different person calling the shots now.

Man City showing a lack of professionalism and respect? Never thought I'd see the day...

I don't really see an issue with it, and it doesn't necessarily confirm that it's done - just that it's very likely. They're just making sure that if he's signed in time, it gives him games to get used to the team.

He's not a bad player but fecking hell £50m is a lot for someone coming off a terrible season. He couldn't even make the England starting 11 ahead of Gary Cahill ffs.

 I don't get it. You can't do that with player of other club. I meant even yesterday Mourinho had to repeat that Pogba is not official. United player. What if clubs register their opposition's player into their play off squad to disrupt team spirit and receive no punishment.

Edit: confirmed.

Mangala is the worst cb I've seen in years. Stones I don't rate that high either certainly not over 25m. City will either get a fine or it'll go down as an error and swept under the carpet.

Also if Lukaku bids come in and get rejected and he really wants to go he will use stones move as leverage

I think he will turn out to be an amazing signing fwiw

I'd love to have seen us go after him
