Isco

Navas gives them genuine width from what I've seen of him. That's what they lacked last year

Fernandinho seems to be pretty highly rated and on the basis that he's unlikely to run like he's pulled both hamstrings is surely an upgrade on Gareth Barry. He'll play alongside Toure and might allow him to get forward a bit more.

Those signings have improved City for my money - how much they've improved will only become clear next season.

Perhaps depth wise sure, but I meant their overall first 11.

Tevez played a lot wide right - I think a proper right sided player will improve their first eleven. Fernandinho will likely be better than what they had in the middle alongside Toure last year. I think that improves their first team comfortably.

Real Madrid and Málaga are scheduled to have another meeting this Friday, one month after contact was first made at the Bernabéu, to clarify each clubs position regarding Isco's transfer.
This time round some kind of agreement could be reached. The player is closer than ever to Real. In the time that has elapsed since the first meeting took place, Isco seems to have opted to make Real Madrid his next stop.
The player has an offer on the table from Manchester City, but he'd prefer to go to Real. His release clause currently stands at €35 million, but this amount is open to negotiation.
The deal might even include players such as Callejón, Jesé or even Morata.

Yessss! Isgoal! Apparently a done deal, nice wakng up like this, especially as I went to bed thinking he had made up his mind on joining City! I'm buzzing.

We're on the same team with hoping which way this goes Vato! Let's just hope we can do you guys a favour...

Agree with kouroux, not sure why any young player in that position would go to Madrid. Unless he's an instant success, he'll struggle to win over the fans. They're an absolute circus of a club, I'd stay well away if I were him.

He's Spanish, I'm sure Madrid and Barca are as big as it gets for most Spanish kids. It's the kind of thing we have always relied on to get the best British kids. Seems like an obvious move for him.

Good news for you guys, finally you can replace that clown Di Maria with a real footballer.

I'm also glad he didn't join City.

Apparently being the key word. Still very much up in the air.

And City have a record with players?

Pff Another player you'll ruin after a couple of seasons and who will go on to be a better player elsewhere

You mean like varane, Ozil, Ramos....

Thère is no doubt some youngsters get 'destroyed', but that happens in all clubs, some more than others. For Madrid it's a combination of buying wrong (from a club perspective) or lack of luck (e.g. Canales with injuries). Madrid is probably the club with the biggest pressure (due to Madrid press, fans and history). I guess only those players with a lot of confidence in themselves go to Madrid. Some make it and others don't. But if you do make it you 'live a dream'.

Having said all this I do see one big fault which the club does and which damages young players possibility of success, and that is the change of managers. Its difficult for a manager to 'invest' in a young player and give them 'time', cause the manager himself is under intense pressure for immediate success from day 1.

For every good example you told me SuecoGitano, there is a counter example.Madrid (nor City) isn't a great club for developing youngsters in general. I do understand how impossible it is to refuse to sign for them though, they're really an attractive football club and not only for Spanish players

And City have a record with players?
Go back to your cave, who even mentioned City (or Ronaldo for that matter) ?

Isco wanted to stay in Spain and that basically for a player of his quality that means Barceona or Madrid. If he's on his way to Madrid it means they've convinced him he'll get game time. Obviously Ozil will be an obstacle, but he needs plenty of rest. Isco's flexible enough to get game time wide, Di Maria and Callejon's minutes if you like. Kaka's no obstruction to anyone (sadly)

The only question mark is how they'll keep the juggling act working if Bale arrives as well.

They're also looking for more game time for Morata and it's time for their Spain U20 player Jese to get bumped up.

Now let's throw Cavani into the mix.

It's obvious how to make rotation work. They just have to ship Ronaldo to us.

Disagree with the bold part. To me, Madrid is just a massive series of in-fighting and stupid power struggles, a club made up of a bunch of wimps who are more concerned with their own place in the pecking order (on and off the field) than winning anything as a team.

I believe that true character is shown in times of adversity, and in those times the people throughout Real Madrid show themselves up for what they truly are.

If I was a player, I don't think I'd be able to see past that. The prestige of playing for a great club would not overcome the day-to-day shit there. Hardly "living a dream".

I actually think Isco would be better going somewhere like Atletico - guaranteed first team football at a high standard, playing champions league and not in the middle of a circus. I think it would be far better for his career long term.

Nah, Madrid are fine. If you're good, you'll probably succeed there (Di Maria, Özil, Benzema, Varane, Ramos), if you're not you but have a goood reputation (Sneijder, Robben, Higuain) are going to leave for a big club in a couple of years anyway. The pull of playing for one of the two Spain's biggest clubs is strong enough for young players like Isco to pick them over a plastic club like City most of the time as well. Living in Madrid is probably also preferable to living in Manchester.

I sure hope he picks Madrid over City. I think he will light up or has the potential to light up the premiership.

Close to signing for Madrid now according to Twitter. After speaking with his representatives Madrid have made an official bid.

Marca reporting it's a done deal as well. http://www.marca.com/. The deal is worth £25m and that will be paid in installments :S fecking hell what a bargain.

Oh please, the people they have signed will not improve them anymore than last year. Navas is a skinny Valencia, and Fernandinho will be cover for Toure.

Of course they will. Navas injects pace into a slow attack gives them the ability to stretch which they sorely lack and he the only comparison he has with Valencia is that he is fast and a right winger they play differently. Fernandinho would play WITH Toure.

I would love to see a player of Isco's talent in our league but not at the cost of strengthening our direct rivals. Madrid are getting Ancelotti a great coach. Isco will give them another option in that 3 behind the main striker he could end up making Di Maria or Ozil a bench player morel likely though.

Delighted if true, would've been really annoyed if City got him!

Up there with the people who say stuff is all over Twitter

Here's the story

The first major signing that Ancelotti will be the Isco. Talks between Malaga and Real Madrid have borne fruit for the transfer of football for the next five seasons.
Moayad shatat, executive vice president malacitano club, spoke yesterday with Jose Angel Sanchez, executive general manager of Real Madrid for the deal.
Of the 35 million originally requested by Malaga Isco clause has been lowered to 24 kilos plus 3 incentives.
He had also studied the possibility of including players who were among the Alley, Jesse or Morata but eventually this situation has occurred.
Pellegrini Manchester City was waiting for events. Whites have moved rapidly to action closing a signing that excited to Real Madrid. His presentation, in principle, take place next week.

Thank feck for that. I mean, I'd have loved to have got him, but we were never going to, and this is vastly superior to him moving to City.
