ICC World T20 2016

The only total successfully defended here this tournament has been 209 by SA vs Afghanistan (and even then Afghanistan were more than in the game for most of it, if they had the batting depth of full members they probably would have won). 180 was chased easy, 229 easily, and 193 today.

Definitely not enough on the board for me

Yes but this was a semi final. Much more pressure here. That counts a lot.

I think this England team is pretty ordinary

The one that one the WC was good.

This one has crap bowling and okay to alright batting.

Ordinary batting? Nah. Root is one the best in the world and can do just about anything. Hales and Roy can hit at will, Butler is just ridiculously good. Morgan in bad form is hurting them but aside from that batting is top notch.

bowling is not too good but they have injuries I believe which is why crap like willey and topley have been getting chances

I don't know how you can say English fans are arrogant...we're miserable feckers and that's always been the case since we've not had success in LO cricket.

Online indian fans are annoying as feck for bombarding twitter/facebook/youtube pages and for their inability to take a joke but in real life they're probably sound.

No matter what the pitch was there's no excuse not to defend 193. Nehra bowled 4 overs @ 6. All it needed was a bit of common sense, those short balls from overs 10-15 odd were insane.

If anything that would make me want to have even more runs on the board. Always thought I'd rather have bat than ball in hand in the last over of a crunch game.

I've given Willey stick but he's growing in to this tournament. A leftie that swings the ball at the top is a valuable asset. Topley was a hunch that went wrong, Finn/Wood would have played for Plunkett, but other than that, we're pretty much full strength.

Nah it's got nothing on the one that revolved around Cook, Strauss, Trott, Broad, Anderson and Swann. That was class.

Three of them are still around and if England can find a decent spinner somewhere, the current team will be better. Root is the best of the lot.

Still shocked Pandya got to bowl four overs

I think England may shock WI on Sunday.

I'm talking about one day/t20 teams. Cook, Trott, Anderson were all very average. Don't think Swann was all that either

It is an ordinary batting lineup and you'll see it soon enough. No one apart Root averages over 30.

You don't need to average over 30 in T20's. Not sure what the obsession with averages is in T20 cricket anyway.

If you have 3/4 players who average 24/25 but have SR's above 135/140 that's all you need, you're golden.

That's what England have in Roy/Hales/Morgan/Stokes and Buttler.

No need , west indies will probably shock themselves more than anything else. being a West Indies fan is the closest thing i can imagine to being an Arsenal fan.

You don't need that many batsmen averaging 30+ in T20s. Their depth is incredible and all can strike a ball. Willey at no. 10 opens for his county and hit a century last season.

I'd have thought Liverpool would have been a more apt comparison.

I couldn't agree more. Average is a pretty worthless consideration in T20's.

Good Lord...they chased that total and Gayle contributed the square root of feck all? I didn't give them a chance, despite the par score, dew factor, small ground etc etc...just thought the pressure would prove to be too much.

Genuinely thought India would win comfortably...guess this shows how much I know

Then again India were very good hosts - those no balls. Bad luck for Kohli - did everything possible but just not quite enough...but India had to figure out a way to get Ashwin to bowl (despite the dew)

Dhoni when asked about retirement, called the journo up and asked him to seat beside him.

Dhoni: Do you think I should retire?
Journo: No
D: Do you think I am unfit?
J:No
D: Do you think I can carry on till 2019 world cup?
J: Yes.

Matter resolved. @Akash

Don't know what was worse, Bratweight and Pandya being nominated for 'best young talent' alongside Root and Santner, or Pandya actually winning the vote comfortably.

That was hilarious. I almost burst out laughing when the showed the options for that poll

There was a similarly amusing one yesterday 'Which team has the best batting unit' which saw India get 60% of the vote.

Those short balls from the moron Pandya were insane. Are the speed guns during the Indian training sessions faulty because I swear it seemed like he believed he bowls at 150+ with the way he kept banging it short - ball after ball.

It's literally the only ball he can bowl. The same throughout the entire tournament. The one he bowled full got him a wicket, but it was a no-ball, so he obviously can't physically bowl anything but short.

He is just a poor player who will go into obscurity from the international circuit once Dhoni leaves and Virat stops picking players on a whim.
