He's no Bilal Ilyas Jhandir
Waqar openly criticizing Shehzad and Akmal. Shahryar Khan few days back talked about Afridi getting sack if he doesn't retire. Akmal publicly tells he is not getting to bat where he wants. The unprofessionalism in Pakistan cricket is shocking. You can see it in fielding and in overall body language as well. The way Pakistan fields is bad even for ODIs, for T20 it is criminal.
Some part of unprofessionalism has always been there with Pakistan and it is not just Pak, it is a subcontinent trait but previously Pak players used to care more on field. They had desire and when facing India it used to go up few notches. Now there is overall 'meh' attitude throughout.
- Waqar is cricket's version of Maradona. GOAT player, useless coach. Having a dig at Akmal is cheap. How about you giving him a consistent run at 3 before complaining? Yes he was shit yesterday but what do you expect from a guy who turns up on match day and has no idea if he will be batting 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7? Stick with him at 3 or at worst 4 for a year and then start complaining if he doesn't perform.
- Selectors are a joke. I can name at least 5 specialist spinners that would walk into any team at this WT20. Yet no specialist spinner was selected for this tournament. Their selection policy has been rotten for a while. Khurram who wasn't even good enough to be drafted into any side in the PSL was suddenly playing Asia Cup. In the recent England series they gave a debut to a 45 year old cnut at the top of the order who couldn't even hold a bat.
- Both ODI and T20 captains are brainless.
- Inability to rotate the strike. How hard can it be to rotate the strike against spinners on a pitch that isn't turning? 6 singles are always on offer. And then if you place the ball well there are always 2s on offer. 8-10 runs can easily be scored off spinners without taking any risks and that too without any boundaries.
It's a complete circus. Worst thing is that it is very predictable. I knew even before Saturday when Pakistan were flying high and India were there for the taking that the winner of Aus-Ind would go through with NZ. Even yesterday in the innings break I said that Pakistan can only win if Sharjeel bats for 10-12 overs. If he had done that then the RRR would have been at around 7 and even the most inept batting lineup would have chased that. Pakistan just don't have the winning mentality. Just look at the coach, he has already given up yet Pakistan are likely to qualify if they beat Australia and Australia beat India. Professional teams and management don't give up until the fat lady sings.
Misbah has somehow managed to glue together the test team. Watch that go pear shaped as well when he retires.
