Henry Winter: Rashford spent the summer getting supremely fit, reporting early for training | Wants to stay as he loves the club

Should have scored the 2nd chance but overall thought he was decent today?

Looking forward to 20 pages of people over analysis his body language on this thread now for the next few days.

Agreed...

And whilst he should have scored it happens and players miss chances, the criticism aimed at him from his own fans is way over the top.

That first chance which was setup for him by Bruno was bread and butter for him, poor to put that wide. And, then late square up by Garnacho too.

Whether people like it or not, he is our biggest hope for scoring goals this season. So, it's important he gets a goal or two to get his confidence flowing.
He is most certainly not. That is some two-year-old bullshit that is not even close to truth, anymore

We have Garna, Amad, Hojlund, Bruno, Mainoo all of whom seem bigger goal threat than the lethargic Rashford. Hopefully Zirkzee will also score more, unless we bought a dud

I don't mind a striker missing chances as long as he keeps finding himself in those positions.

Should have done better with both the finishes, but I'm hopeful this will be a better season from him.

We have absolutely no chance of selling him, given his contract length and current salary.
He's a big problem. You can't have a player on your books on his wage giving you as little as he does. We need to move on the likes of him, Antony and Sancho. I hope we press on with that next summer and bring in two wide players.

I’ve had about 9 drinks in Turkey so I may sound a bit harsh. He’s sooooo trash. Those chances were harder to miss!! My 3 year old daughter would gobble them up.

How is he on 300k a week is beyond me. He deserves to play for a club like Everton or Nottingham Forrest. He shares the same skill set as a Hudson-Odoi or Iwobi and that’s generous. Please lease our club!!

I have had 0 drinks and some bacon. He stinks man.

He just doesn’t look like he has the desire anymore.

It ssucks when the keysss sstick oooon the keypad because of jusst ooone ssssssingle ssstrrawberry daiquirrri, man!!!!!

I thought he was sharp on ore season and sharp today, should have taken one of the two chances minimum but the fact he's in those one touch finish type areas is better for us because the longer he spends on the ball the more likely he is to overcomplicate stuff and try to go full FIFA mode.

Problem now is I'll never trust him to put a shift in every single time for his boyhood club, I'd have him off the bench for the last twenty against tired legs. He should be nowhere near a starting line up.

We have players on 3/4 million a week wages that nobody can afford, nor we can sell any more shirts base on their performance, so live with that.

Live with that? If you want to improve, you find a way to rid yourselves of these players and replace them. Big priority for next summer.

Is Rashford better than Nani? Nani is known for being inconsistent but he has his moments during the season but Rashford's inconsistency is throughout the whole season and he has been this way for a few years now. If Rashford does well this season and there is a willing buyer, United should consider selling him. I don't think it is physical anymore, he doesn't have the mental toughness to play for United.

How? The only way is what we did with Martial. Let the contract run out.
Yeah and we pissed away years by doing that. These guys are far more ruthless. Thankfully we won't be giving Rashford, Sancho and Antony the best part of a decade to stink the place out.

I don't think it's far-fetched to say that I'd take Nani's performances for us. His performances at a similar age is better on the eye and more productive, especially when you consider he had to track back a fair bit (like most wingers in that era).

If anything, we need to sell Rashford soon by next season IMO. He has clocked up a fair bit of mileage in his legs and without his pace he's going to be a mediocre player in the PL.

He ain’t fit to tie his laces. Nani was a monster.

It’s only 8am here and it’s 30 degrees! I’m melting. Just reserved my sunbed for the day

Haha I been enjoying the Tom Collins cocktail. Surprisingly this Tui Sensatori resort has quite an extensive drinks menu.

Despite my user name, I have been one of the fans calling for Rashford to be sold due to his body language and lack of effort. But based on yesterday's game, he is clearly back and playing for the team. Yes, the shots didn't go in. But this is just the beginning of the season. Give him a chance if he continues to put in the effort.

Yea, I agree with this.

How do you get rid of them then?
Attempt to sell all three. If you can't, then look to loan out Antony and Sancho with options/obligations. Use Rashford as a backup and not an automatic starter. These players might be hurting you off the pitch, but don't allow them to hurt you on it too.
