You need to give them something to vote for.

I dislike this line of thinking. The last 14 years have been abysmal, yeah labour are uninspiring but surely getting rid of the Tory's should be more than enough motivation for people to go and vote.

Seems mad to me that people would ever choose to not vote, but especially now.

I dislike this line of thinking. Not everyone is tribal and you shouldn’t be able to say time for “change”, we’re going to do everything the old lot did.

I'd say it was mad that you've determined vibes override policies that'll be impacting people's lives for the next five years.

Staggering that after 14 years of shit people still don’t vote
Nowt to vote for other than a different pile of sh*t in a lot of peoples view. As thrilled as anyone the Tories have gone but can’t muster the same excitement over the incoming lot.

Lots of of folk, myself included need to vote ‘for’ rather than just a vote ‘against’.

Is Fareham and Waterlooville the nastiest place in the country? They've kept Braverman in and given 53% of the vote to her and Reform.

What the feck is wrong with people down there?

On the face of it, amazing. And usually I try to be optimistic. The headline figure of today is getting the scum out and that's done. Some big twats gone.

But the labour vote share has barely increased (approx 2%), as Starmer has alienated big portions of his base. He will doubtless still see this as a massive endorsement of his tactics and manifesto.

The lib dems have gained about 50 seats on less than a 1% increase in vote share. 1 in every 7 votes to reform.

A quarter of all votes gone to Reform, Green and independents, winning exactly 2% of seats (though a few still waiting to be declared). Farce.

On the other hand I guess, Green Party with a big increase in both vote share and seats.

You laughed when I suggested Labour would get 12m votes on a 70% turnout. I humbly apologise.

Sky have a Labour vote share of 34% on a 60% turnout. There are roughly 47 million registered voters. I make that around 9.5 million votes.

Surely Starmer will see he has gained feck all from the Tories and it’s time to attract the left with sensible socialist policies which actually improve people’s lives?

Paying any attention to the sizeable Green vote and the four defeats to independents, and the reasons for both, would be nice.

Jesus, Jonathan Ashworth gone for Labour. Never quite worked out if I liked him but he's definitely a name at least.

No worries. A lot of people who somehow do this for a living had bizarrely decided turnout was going to suddenly jump up based on nothing.

The fact they're almost all being completely taken by surprise by the low turnout should lead to some P45s in the coming days.

  • David Cameron's seat of Witney to the Lib Dems
  • Theresa May's seat of Maidenhead to the Lib Dems
  • Boris Johnson's seat of Uxbridge and South Ruislip to Labour
  • Liz Truss's seat of South West Norfolk to Labour

Looks like Labour are going to slightly exceed the number of seats the exit poll predicted, which is great news to wake up to.

I'm astonished that over 6 and a half million people still voted Tories and only around 9 and half million voted Labour. Madness. I actually find it depressing, because the worst performing Conservative party in my adult lifetime, and one of if the best performing Labour parties, and the vote split is still only a 2:3 ratio. And over 4m votes for Reform. A huge % of the population are fecking morons.

Cheerio! Add Rees-Mogg to the list as well!

It's a great sight to see, but worth remembering only Truss was actually standing in this election.

You'd hope so, especially considering how keen he was to learn 'lessons' after the by-election loss in Uxbridge.

I'm not holding my breath though.

If reform would not exist, a big portin of these 4 million would have gone to tory ending neck to neck with labour

A large number of people are not politically engaged enough to think like that. They vote on fear or hope or not at all.

Greens 4 - Reform 4

Guess which party will get weekly interview spots?

To be fair while it will be annoying and the seats look like they will be the same, there are a few major differences:

-double the vote share
-Farage
-nobody realistically thinks labour are (at present) going to be moved left by the greens. Whereas we are all (including Tory MPs) openly talking about how Reform may be lurching the Tories right and may potentially be subsumed by the tories entirely. And then we're in very worrying territory.

Though just switched on the sky news coverage and not even a mention of Green...but did mention the independents. fecks sake.

Obviously there is truth to this, there is no faith in politics at all at the moment, but there does need to be a review of the impact of voter ID laws and whether there is truth behind the reports of postal ballots not being administered correctly

Yeah. They will be back in sooner rather than later unfortunately.

For Labour to stay in power they really need to be more convincing and change the perception of the party over the next few years. Which is difficult, when they also want to retain some of the swing voters and not lose further working class support to Reform and/or a more forthright Tory party.

As Super Hans said: “People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people

The Greens weren’t even getting the coverage while they had more MPs and Councillors before the election. The media has helped propel Reform to what they are. They will now keep on doing it.

Even better than seeing JRM being voted out was seeing Liz Truss face when she was kicked out as an MP. Just perfect.

As long as Reform keep pulling such a significant voter share, Labour will be safely in power because all they are doing is splitting the vote on the right. Let those cnuts cannibalise each other.

Whilst the short term result has been good news for Labour - when the dust settles it’s hardly been the success story that’s being made out

despite one of the worst governments in memory, they’ve barely added any votes (1% more share) Labour can count themselves very lucky that Farage declared when he did. If he had stayed in the wilderness, we’d be looking at a hung parliament.

How Starmer has managed to barely attract the electorate given what’s happened speaks volumes really.

Labour will hope Farage stays around to split the right vote, but when he goes, Labour are back to being the opposition.

And those same people will be the first to complain if things don't turn out as they think they should have. I have no time for these time wasters.

Now we know why you are called cpt negative.
