Possible but since 2010 there's only been a few seats difference between exit polls and actual results I believe. Exit polls are a lot more accurate now.

Internal projections would have predicted it would be far worse to call in the winter. Likely predicted more economic stagnation, much more boat crossings in summer, trying to catch Reform on the back foot, etc.
