Gareth Bale | Linked with United again

Train has left, boat has sailed, whatever means of transportation has departed.

Forget Bale, could have been Giggsy reincarnated but hey you can't catch them all. (He is also very injury prone).

Move on to Dybala or Griezmann for our big name, big money signing next summer.

If he isn't fit enough to run around in Spain, he sure ain't fit enough to run around in England.

I'd take a punt at a reduced price of around £50 million if Madrid are keen to get rid, but I don't want us to blow on an entire's summer budget on him.

Definitely worth a punt IF he can stay free of injury, having said that, his injury record and age should realistically mean £50m tops,Madrid demand more than that I think we should tell them Adios!!

Do not want this player.

Better ways to spend money than on a Madrid Reject.
He had his opportunity to come here before. So feck him

He's too injury riddled at this point, not worth the money or risk.

Its a constant stream of injuries..

Similar injuries too so unless we get someone to really work with him and personalise his training and conditioning perfectly then they'll just keep happening over and over.

Giggsy managed to reinvent himself and look after himself to minimise the injuries he kept having to hamstrings and groins and so on, can Bale do the same?

No one would deny he’s a class player when he’s on the pitch, but his missed something like 40 out of the last 60 La Liga matches. The PL is a far harder league as there are less matches the big teams can cruise through.

I expect Madrid would bite our hands off if we bid anything over £60m, but the last thing we need is to have a player like him in our treatment room constantly.

Never in a million years. Madrid are trying to cut off their losses and sell him. They have been really smart in selling their players for big money. IF I were to ever consider us signing Bale, it would be for 30m.... That's the best I would do. Madrid can take it or leave it.

That's an impressive list. What a lil girl.

Think he's missed 40 out of the last 60 games possibly more since that stats been around for a few weeks.
Would rather buy fecking Memphis back for 40 than risk buying Bale for 80.

Surely would never pass a medical so should never really be considered. if you could have him for 30 games a season would be worth the gamble for me, hes miles ahead of everything we have when playing. also has a good record in the big games which we are severly lacking.

I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole! He has shown no desire whatsoever to ever come to Utd and snubbed them in the past. His wages are obscene for someone who misses half of every season through injury.

If he was that great, Madrid would not be trying ship him out. You are basically handing the advantage to Madrid to go get the next great young talent whilst Utd take their rejects. Utd need to chase players of world class ability who actually have desire to be there (Pogba).

Bale is an awesome player in his prime and when he is fit but you cannot succeed with injury prone players being the top earner and crippling the chance to go after someone else of world class ability who became available in the same window.

If we are buying a crooked fecker just buy Reus... Or if we want to spend big on a wide player just buy Sanchez.. Don´t want Bale here..

I can't think of a thread where the caf is more agreeable. The train has passed on Bale.

Fantastic player but he with all his injuries and age, no thanks.

He's reportedly on 600k week. Real Madrid will want to offload the hobbling sick note to anyone dumb enough to take him. We would be stupid to offer this old injury prone player a four-year contract. Check out some of the young exciting talents like Leon Bailey or Guedes.

Bale has seen his best days. We need to look for younger players with world class potential.

Everyone agreeing, what is this forum coming to. But yes im with everyone else, crocked way too often. Which is a shame, on his day he is one of the most exciting players on the planet.

30-35mil tops is what you would pay for him now. You just know some club will pay like 40-50 for him if RM try to get rid, probably Spurs

As their xfer record marquee signing for the shiny new stadium, and he will spend the season with their other sick note Lamela on the treatment table.

We could activate Carrasco's release clause for half of Bales price.

Makes absolutely no sense unless Jose has suddenly turned into Moyes and only knows how to sign his former players.

It's not just the transfer fee that's the problem. Bale is on 600k per week apparently . And iirc he renewed recently.

I think when you look at the two famous pics of him before and after Madrid with the physical transformation in such a short period of time, it was inevitable that this would happen to him. Sure the change in musculature changed his biomechanics on terms of sprints technique etc.

Like others have said, too much of a liability for the price Madrid would demand.

Would rather look at the likes of Timo Werner of Pulisic.

Fantastic player but i can't see why he would be fit on a even tougher league and in a team that can't afford to rest him some games.

I'd rather we put whatever daft money (and wages) we'd pay Bale ON TOP of whatever we'd pay for Sanchez in order to really turn his head and at least get City into a bidding war.

Offer 90m for the fecker, Arsenal would be desperate given their situation with his contract, and if it meant him not going to City, I'd say he's worth more than that even.

It takes a special kind of arrogance for someone - who doesn't have any medical training - to boast that they could get someone like Bale, with all of the physical issues he has, fit. Just because.

The Gareth Bale United needed was the one who ripped Inter Milan apart, about seven seasons ago.

I, like a lot of United fans, was so frustrated that a club of our size wasn't making a concerted effort to sign the literally perfect replacement for Giggs.
That Gareth Bale was made for United.

And that time has come and gone.

We now need young talent, hungry to become the next Bale or next Ronaldo or next whoever.

You are thinking as a fan and getting carried away. 90m given his age is ridiculous. Our budget is about 150m per season and we need to fill at least 4 holes in the squad and we won't do that by signing ageing marquee players at high prices. In the past I wanted us to sign Alexis instead of Di Maria for 35m before he went to Arsenal but am against paying through the nose for an ageing version. Alexis on a free is appealing but for big money no way. I hope someone starts a thread on him.

If we are after a winger then you can't beat Leon Bailey. He ticks all the boxes with extreme pace, excellent dribbling skills and close quarter ball control and creativity. He's also young and can play either wing and probably wouldn't cost the earth. Mark it down future Ballon d'Or contender.

 hope he stays there a long time

While Real won't get anywhere near what they paid for him, there will always be at least one PL club willing to fork out 40-50 million + insane wages to "make a statement about our ambitions". Just hope it isn't us.

If Real actively tries to get rid, I hope he does a Bogarde. Would become an instant hero of mine.
