No, they definitely wouldn't sell for free. If anything, they'll quote us the fee they paid for him 4/5 years back and refuse to back down from getting that fee from us.
Not a chance, and they know it. It’s just posturing from their side.

I explained the nationality mistake. And David Brooks:lol: of all the names in all the world. @SaintTresano.

Mate I'm not laughing at your choice.
Giggs. Better top speed with and without the ball, for sure. Acceleration wise, both were phenomenal.

Owen was lightning. Giggs was my favorite player ever.

What makes you so sure

He’s about as reliable as a one legged man doing the okey-cokey!

He’d cost us over 70mil, I would prefer we spend it on someone with a better injury record!

When fit and in form he’s deadly, but that’s like a quarter of a season.

I'd still go for him as long as he only plays on the left or centrally. I always felt playing on the right hand side messed him up - I kept seeing him jumping for the ball in such disastrous ways.

There are Real Madrid fans complaining about paying 600k per week for this sick note and you want to take over that contract? No club in Europe would be dumb enough to take over his contract except us. His wages would mean we would be handicapped for the next 3 years. Let us get the next Gareth Bale not the soon to be 30 injured sick note.

The problem lies in the fact that Bale tried to make a hasty comeback by possibly using injections and other artificial means and so on to speed up his recovery and obviously exerting your body when it's not been healed leads to prolong injuries. The same thing that Jones had done just to play in a friendly. I mean 6 injections... That's just ridiculous. There needs to be some sort of law by FIFA to tackle this. I really hope we stay away from Bale at all costs. Hargreaves, Schweinsteger, Jones and to some extent even Saha were good players who spent majority of their time recovering. For the past three years, he's missed about 60 games or so. Bale's biggest asset is his pace and without it he doesn't offer much. With age as it is, he's bound to have slowed down.

29 years old sicknote with stupid wage & cost 60m ?
Football World would laugh hard at us if we sign him
we will spend whole year defending/justifying our idiocy from opposition fans.
Just pogba & jones being injured has frustrated us to the death , imagine another one

Lord can you imagine, every couple of months he'll be bigged up on here as the second coming. Only to get injured again

Woodward has had a hard-on for Bale since the Moyes season, if he want's him and he's attainable he'll do what he can to sign him. He'd be a fecking fool to do so though..

Whenever we lose , we will frustrate ourselves by keep saying "because we didn't have bale / because bale is injured"
and made ourselves laughing stock in football world

Oh god , please don't let it happen

If I was Real Madrid I'd use him as a pawn to get De Gea, a major upgrade for a player you don't miss.

Ship has sailed, wrecked, become home for fish, corrals, been found by divers, made into museum.

Top class.

This looks like Real trying to off-load Bale, so they can comfortably pay Griezmann´s release clause.

I won't mind us getting him on loan for 2 years like Bayern did with James. By the time the loan ends, he'd pretty much be finished. We'd have used whatever is left of him and RM get a completely past it player when he goes back

To me, Owen was more of a quicker Hazard type. Amazing agility and acceleration, but catchable on a longer run. Giggs was a more natural runner with longer strides over distance with the ability to maintain his top speed for longer. Never seen a race, so it’s my opinion stated as fact.

Yep.
And it's so useful to have at least one of those 'weapon' players in your squad if you are a club with realistic aspirations of winning something.

Bale could be anonymous for 89 minutes and replicate something like you mentioned in the 90th, getting something for his side despite how the rest of the match went or how much generally better the opponent may or may not have been.

Total dominance in a player is basically priceless because there is no one that could do what that player does.
Who else could do what Bale did (against Barca)?

The issue is his body is clearly falling apart. He's 29 and can barely play a string of games due to injuries and they are getting worse. The more injuries he picks up the more he loses this ability you want him here for. It's highly likely judging by his injury record that soon he'll lose his explosiveness and/or top speed. All players get slower, this can be down to fast twice muscle fibres degrading as you age or culmination of injuries meaning your body just can't do what it used. Bale has had more of these injuries than most. We can't sign a 29/30 year old on 300k a week who would be dropping off naturally anyway (let alone with Bale's body) who's only asset is his physicality, when that very trait is likely going to be gone within a couple of years (if not already). We're then left with Rooney mark 2, a 30 year old on massive wages on a 4-5 year contract.

Well, you have just stated the exact reason why I wanted him here seven years ago and why I now don't want us to sign him.

And the point you make about Bale's main asset being his only asset is also why we shouldn't gamble.

It's players like Xavi Alonso that turn into Pirlos, not players like Bale. I mean, Giggs kind of did but I think he has/had a slightly more rounded knowledge of the game than Bale (playing all of his career for Ferguson probably didn't hurt either).

Spot on.
The other reason the Giggs example doesn't work with Bale, is that we had the "real" Giggs through his real top form days, and it suited all parties for him to take a lesser role later on.

It'd be madness to bring him in the summer, as he'd want the sort of long huge contract he has at Real, and most likely end in a Rooney scenario, where he still has years to run, and is way off his best form.

The injuries and the money for value aspect I fully understand, but people saying he will end up in a Rooney situation I have to disagree with. He has a lot more than pace and power going for him as well.

His overall play this season has been good from what I have seen as well. His crossing and shooting is top class, and he is a great goalscorer inside and outside the box.

Bale is class when fit,but I don't see the point in splashing the majority of our budget on a sick note.

It would be a fun event to get the quickest to run races for charity. Goal post to goal post. Then mark them at certain points 100 metres, half way line etc.

Its my dad's name.
Oh wow!
Well, small world.

Just so we're clear: I was refering to the young kid that plays for Sheffield United as possibly being the 'Next Gareth Bale', not your dad.
Then again, your dad very well could be the next Bale.

No thanks, he isnt worth of wages let alone wages and transfer fee.

This. Would have loved to have a prime Bale at United, but buying a player who spends more time at the physio than on the pitch for that price is just daft
