Gareth Bale | Linked with United again

When Bale was fit and great, he wanted nothing to do with us. Now that he is injury prone and on his way down, why should we waste our precious resources on him? Makes no sense whatsoever.

His salary is (reportedly) +£600k a week, his current contract with Madrid runs until 2022, and Madrid won't sell him for less than £86m, so the whole package may reach £200m for an injury-prone player who will turn 29 next summer?

Not even an Alex Jones level of shirt sale myth would justify such horrible deal.

When he was fit & firing he never want to come to us . Now that he is crock , madrid want to dump him to us..

I'll take him for 10m + pay per play or feck off

I think he would be a really good transfer for united if he remains fit.

Problem is if Madrid thought his recent injuries were just bad luck they would never consider selling bale.

Bale is one of the best in the world when fully fit.

When was he last ”fully fit” for a sustained period of time though? Feels like a long long time ago.

Nah, Bales ship is on the horizon, sailing into what could have been.

Unreal talent but he's a crock. Changing clubs isnt going to change that.

Changing to this club certainly isn’t.

if we buy this crock we are mugs plain and simple

could you rely on him to play 25 games?

hope Woodward and Jose aren't starstruck or thinking galactico

There is no way this can be right. Utter madness. I'd rather have a 40 year old Ronaldo than this guy.

He's a crock, so no use on the pitch because he'll hardly be on it, plus he's a charisma free zone, so I cannot see how he's going to be any good marketing wise. If Ed and Jose go ahead with this, they should both be sacked.

If the deal is correct, why not? I think Jose knows his stuff. We can see with our recent transfer dealings that we won’t be mugged into bad deals, like the Moyes and LvG era.

All comes down to what the deal is? Plus, a change of scenery and training methods might, MIGHT, help him physically.

Well he started of alright didn’t he? And was a star in euros 2016.

His injury record was pretty good when he was at Spurs. And united need a winger. If there’s a chance a change of scenery will do him good I say go for it. Not like we’re the ones paying his transfer fee and insane wages.

We missed our opportunity to buy him when Madrid bought him. Great player on his day but the risk far outweighs the likely transfer cost.

I'd like to see the broken fax machine make a comeback in this one. The highlight reel version of Bale would definitely be a stunning improvement to the team, but everything else screams "beware of the dog". His age, injury record, price, wages, and the fact that he has turned us down before. Not to mention the club we'll be doing a deal with. Or his haircut.

This guy is finished at the top level now, he's a broken body. If we seriously pay big money for a 29 year old crock then I fear for our future.

Spend the money on a young star who will be worth it in the future.

Here goes the repeated Bale discussions every transfer window.

Nothing else to add, he's good when fit and plays successive games, the problem is him being fit for a long time never happens. Unfortunately I see Madrid the only winner of this deal if it happens, they would have offloaded an injury prone player to bring a more younger and hunger player than him. More than that I have seen nothing suggesting Bale wants to play for us.

Terrible injury record, would be utter madness on Utd's part to even entertain the idea.

Would love see Utd string Real Madrid along and pull out at the last minute and leave them lumbered with this crock for another 4 years.

If you don't want to play for Utd in your prime don't bother playing for them when you are broken down.

Brilliant player but unless wages are sorted to suit we unfortunately should avoid although he’d if fit would elevate us right up there in terms of best in the league imo.

I personally think we need 2 new players to slot in behind Lukaku and two off the following off Griezmann Bale Ozil Sanchez Dyabla or RM would be nice.

If he were to come on a free transfer, then I would be interested in a deal, but since that is highly unlikely to be the case, then it is a no for me.

Didnt Mourinho say he never bid for Bale last summer? Why would he lumber the club with a player who would cost a fortune, want parity with the top earning players, and is on a par with injury prone Phil Jones. The Bale who played for Spurs and first season Madrid has gone. Unless Woodys galactico buys he seems fond of trying for, forces the issue, I cant see it happening.

Started off alright? Started off what?

And Euro 2016 was a tournament he was involved in for like 4 weeks. Staying fit for 4 weeks is not his problem, it’s staying fit for 4 months or so.

Bale being linked to United has me annoyed like nothing else. You have to be odd to even consider him at this point.

He would want much more than that considering his wage packet at RM.
Yes but if hes forced out of Real he wont be able to command £5-600 grand a week, and who would pay him that much anyhow? Only City Chelsea and Utd would be able to afford it and I couldnt see any team offering him twice as much as what their top earners are on now.

No wonder you want United to sign Bale your profile says you are a Man City supporter! Maybe Man City should sign him!

This is a terrible idea. Even if he can stay fit, his age and injury history will prevent him from doing the things that make him a world class player. Maybe he can adapt his game like Giggs but, excellent as he was, you wouldn't pay top money for the Giggs we had in his 30s.

RM are entering a nice little period of relative decline now, why would we ride in and solve a real problem for them? Signing Bale is little dafter than landing Kompany.

Hahahahaha I am a city supporter true. But I genuinely think united need a winger and none better then bale on his day.

If city needed a winger I would want Bale 100% but I would rather Sanchez personally glad to have him for January.

Swap for Martial might benefit both teams and players.

How so??

Want nothing to do with this, sure it's just paper talk but if we were keen, I would have serious doubts about those in charge.

Also, he turned us down when he was in his prime to go to real, feck that guy.
