Not a bad point this. Last time there was a draft of this sort everyone named their own club, guessing that's what we're doing here?

I am going to delete all the Premier league teams (removing players and staff first). Then duplicated United 20 times so everyone has the same club profile at the start.
Then youll get to name your club and pick the two main colors.

What about the supporter/fiance stats attributed to united. It will affect managers hired/fired by the ai etc.

As far as I know everything should be cloned so they will all be exactly the same.

Nothing. It's let the ai engine run the game using the squad and managers we supplied.

You can offer yourself as an assistant manager to someone. I am sure with 25 rounds of drafting some will be needing help.

All the classic players are aged relatively based on their era of playing.

So Messi starts as 18 year old.

Maradona 19 year old.

Pele 21 year old.

Jose Nasazzi 26.

They are extremely good even at just 18 but the younger ones will need a few years of in-game simulation to reach their actual peak.

If I sim the game for 8 years for instance that season would have Pele at 29 years old, Nasazzi at 34 years old and Messi at 26.

Practically speaking at the start of the game some of the early 20th century players like Bican will be more in their peak while Maradona and Messi will be 18-19 year old prodigies.

Let me check I'm understanding this properly first - we will in turn, individually pick a manager and then player each until all 20 teams are full of players? Then you'll simulate in-game to see whose team does best? And in my role of assman I'd simply be helping @mazhar13 make any decisions over players?

I just saw the poll. Isn't this just the one season? It's actually quite important to establish as the ideal manager and players are different in either scenario.

Would have loved Trap :(

I'm going to try to sim at least 8 seasons but we will see how it goes. I do like the idea of writing stories and narrative around what is happening so its entirely possible I may not make it to 8 seasons but that is the intent as the database was designed to be run through multiple years with players getting older.

Don't stress too much on the manager. On the modern FM 2017 experiment most teams had different managers 3 years in. You just have to kind of accept its a simulation and won't totally match your personal ratings or the club might not be managed how you envision (my club in the modern experiment uses the Monaco model of selling the best players for dozens of mil profit and never signing anyone for more than 1 mil haha).

Interesting.

Just wondering, when some of you played the older versions of FM did SAF ever get sacked? Provided you didn't take over him at the start of the game that is.

yeah I can do that, and also I still don't mind editing the manager to just have the preferred formation you want because there are a few different ways a manager like Sacchi for instance could have his tactics represented. Like some might make Sacchi as a 4-2-2(wide)-2 while another might just a flat 4-4-2. So I think its okay to adjust the preferred formation to what you want.

Although its possible the AI might change it, maybe @Macern can answer that better as he has run one of these through multiple seasons

iirc Ferguson and Wenger had pretty good longevity compared to most but they could still get sacked in some saves if they had a bad year (which is more likely in game if you take over some mid table side and kick out one of the traditional top 4 - Wenger wasn't as immune in game as he is in real life.

SAF is golden in this. Will hit the ground running not overcomplicating tactics, will not get sacked, will bring through young players...

In the meantime I'm mulling over two managers: one never stayed more than a couple of seasons and the other would sure fall out with himself by the end of the first season.
 
feck it, I'll go with the genius. Whatever he decides will be better than what I do.

BTW, the transfers idea sounds like fecking nightmare for Onenil or, if automated, ends up dictated by the wealth and board of whichever club you happen to be replacing. Lock it in.

I'm still not sure that many seasons are even of much interest. Just run one properly with all the twists and turns.

no chance he lasts that long(pretty much why i would block him, if i cant have him nobody can :D)...but would be fun if Cruyff bought himself in the game :lol:
