I'm not entirely sure about the mechanics of it all @oneniltothearsenal
Do we just pick in the hope that whoever made the database made justice to the players?
Haven't played FM for absolute ages so will probably cock up all the team/tactics settings
I do like the idea though. Are you basically going to run a league with each team getting injuries, having to adjust tactics for each game, etc? Sounds like a ton of work but I did enjoy the last time we simulated an FM league season with CAF members as generated players. I was a Paolo Montero of sorts albeit a bit more agricultural.
if i understand it correctly, we will just pick squads and managers....onenil will probably start a game as a manager from separate league and will just go on holiday for a season so there wont be any playing managers in the game. The way i see it, its irrelevant is it fair or not its just for laughs and for us to enjoy the drafting process

Yeah as Sjor said we all pick a manager and I'm guessing a 25 man squad. Then he'll just let the computer simulate each season and see how we do.
The PESSTATS guys that the fm stats are based on have done quite a bit of work though and I'd say they are really quite accurate with the stats they have produced.
We should get cut managers down to whoever we have now and crack on.
Wouldn't be a full league though would it. Need 20 ideally

Basically what Pnut and Sjor said. You just draft the teams and then I do the work simulating seasons and hopefully doing updates frequently.
@Edgar Allan Pillow If Anto wants in that fills us up and we can start, otherwise I can start with 19 and just use placeholder team run by the AI as sort of a BYE week matchup.

feck it, I'll do it. It's basically picking a 25-man squad and then leaving it to FM to randomly injure/red card/hit posts and what not. Good fun.
I'd suggest @oneniltothearsenal doesn't just publish the table though but create some sort of narrative around it. E.g. table after a month, injury crisis for team X, purple patches, bad patches, create tension leading up to the game between table toppers, etc.

Given its fm you can draft a wonderful team, well thought out and then have the game play messi as a holding midfielder. Should be fun.
Do we know which are the manager options? Do our tactics really matter? I suppose the manager preference will dictate tactics (e.g. no chance Moyes plays a sexy 3-4-3 diamond, just wingers crossing it 2,354 times a game).
Agree with the second part a lot.
Pretty much all the managers you would pick are in it.
Tactics do matter but I'll go in and change your selected manager to use a formation you want if you don't like their default but yea it should affect their personnel choices in the formation and how its played.

and like some have mentioned it will be more fun if I put some effort into highlighting stories and creating some suspense and not just print the table it should be more fun for everyone. So yeah your work will end and then mine begins to entertain all of you

A poll has been added for how everyone wants to handle injuries. I think injuries will make it fun with 25 man squad but I'll leave it up to everyone
You won't need much time at the weekend with the first 2-3 rounds just leave your picks or first and choices with me and someone at the opposite end of the draft.
shouldnt even be a poll for this, everything should be as normal....injuries, suspensions etc. Its part of the game and its going to put more emphasis on full squads.

From what I have seen of the last FMexperiments, I'd say it has minimal impact.
I will change the manager's preferred tactic to the formation you guys want but if I let everyone pick exact tactics it would be too much work for me to update that every week. I'd say the most impact it might have is general type of style of play.

I think we should have a poll for transfers because that is a great point.
But onenil can edit the style the manager likes to play

Yes I will edit the preferred tactics at the start of the simulation.
But what I mean is I can't go in on a weekly basis and make tactical adjustments, that would be too much work to do for everyone.
ohh....whats the point of picking a manager then? Think it would be better if we dont edit managers because its more interesting to pick players that fit your manager.
Don't some have better stats for various things. I'm not playing but I'd prefer not to be hamstrung by the managers preferences. I don't want to pick Hoddle and Robson and have them in a midfield two like what happened with England in the 80s
Shouldn't be a poll — without transfers it will soon become stale. Transfer meltdowns, selling Messi for 20 millions etc., more fun!
dont know, havent played manager for almost a decade now...but still, it makes it more interesting if we dont edit anything. If you dont want to have Hoddle and Robbo in midfield two then dont pick a manager that plays with midfield 2....reckon onenil should just give the formation/s to everyone after the first round because you never know what formation did they give to certain managers.

From previous fm experiments, I would say picking tactics for your manager etc would be a waste of time for 2 reasons. One, chances are they will all move around in 2/3 years anyway and two, the game will still play havoc with whatever tactics you decide on, with players being played in bizarre positions.

Will be unfair to some if someone gets Burnley as his club while other gets City? Equaling every club in the league would be to much work obviously but maybe it would be beneficial if you replace certain clubs in the league to make it fair, maybe creating a super league with Barca, Real(would be cool to replace club name with playing manager - burnley->šjor etc. so its much easier to follow) etc.
