Gaming FM 24 Experiment: Redcafe FC

Kinda impressive, it's not like he has crazy stats to assemble yellow cards either. Aggression 16 and low composure/concentration, sure, but still? Tackle-skill is ok, acceleration, pace, stamina and strenght good, decisions and positioning ok (for the level). And not dive into tackles...

Season Two

After a meeting with the chairman, Mark Elstob has decided to take his advice and make a tactical shift to the 4-3-3 formation from the 4-2-3-1 he was setting up with previously. In a move that will please his chairman, it may also benefit the playing squad and give Solinho the minutes he craves.

@altodevil has decided to make this a shrewd summer and scaled back the transfer budget and club balance a tad, with no improvements to the facilities or stadium.

They have opted to sign former Barcelona and Slavia Sofia product, Martin Georgiev (CB), who was available on a free transfer.

Assuming all players are cool, I will start simming.

Winter-Table.png

A much simpler start to the season for Redcafe FC. Top of the table by 11 points and with a game in hand. Catman Jones once again leading the charge but who else do I see? It's only bloody Solinho! He's made his mark in the new 4-3-3 tactic and is looking almost as good as Catman given the welshman's head start. Everyone else in the side is plodding along too. Harry Tackles was sidelined with a long term injury so is lacking in game time compared to the rest but otherwise all is good.

SR Wilder isn't having the best time at City in terms of senior football as he has made 0 appearances. He's doing well for their U21 side but really needs to get back into the senior game. Preston are interested in taking him on loan.

Seb Sheep and QPR are sitting in 17th place in the Championship. He's having a decent season considering the level and side he's at with 2 goals and 2 assists and an average rating of 6.91.

Carlos and his Swansea side aren't too far behing in 19th place. He's still not performing that well at Senior level with 1 goal in 1 (8) appearances and a 6.76 rating. He has managed 11 goals in 19 appearances for their U21s however with a rating of 7.05. Time for him yet.

@altodevil you have a balance of 21,327,197, TB of 4,661,126 and WB of 1,000,000. Do you want to make any changes before I sim to the summer?

No changes - but what happened to 20m?

I assume it's because your facilities and wage bills are high but you're in the National League so have next to no money coming in from match day or TV revenue. Last season you didn't make many transfers until later and they were still on relatively decent wages but this summer players you've signed are on wages of 10-30k. :lol:

Feck - I'd rather a self-imposed transfer ban and live off youth. Far cheaper.

Final-Table.png

Was it ever in any doubt? Write up of the season to follow.

1 draw what the feck brand of football we playing? Can we see team stats - like possession, cccs etc

Which ones do you want? Will screenshot and add to write up.

EDIT: Also, I'm thinking that to make the experiment fair in terms of wages, I think that each season the contract of User Players should be assessed whereby I will look at the average wage bill of the squad and then make them all match that average. So you can't just fly through the leagues with them on puny wages since they naturally won't get contracts due to future transfer lock.

Thanks for the write-ups SW. if the colours are being a bit off you might need to change them at editor level or use FMRTE

Just the basics - get an idea of what football we are playing.

Finally a best eleven with all of the lads involved and where they can all arguably play in their best positions. The two chairman signings settling in nicely too. They upped their average attendance from 2099 to 2529 and sold out the stadium when playing Oldham at home. They learnt from last season and got off to a good start (after the first game which they lost), winning 11 of their 12 opening games. In terms of league stats they were the dominant side in terms of goals, shots for and ppg. They also managed the most avg possession out of any side in the league but lost out in terms of pass completion %. They conceded 44 goals, 2 more than the best defensive sides in the division, with 433 shots against. They were a bit lagging in terms of chances created, with 90 in total. Bromley in first had 119 overall. xG for the season was 79 and you scored 87. xGA was 48 and you conceded 44. You made a good effort in the FA Cup, reaching the 3rd round but ended up losing 2-1 against Championship Millwall.

Well in Elstob. Smashed it this season. Upped the win percentage, broke the 100 point barrier and managed to integrate all the best caf youth products into the starting line-up. He managed to earn his continental pro licence and picked up the VNL Manager of the Season award! Good work.

Aye, will have to try FMRTE. When I did it with the in-game one it removed the kits entirely.

Redcafe FC Players

@Solius

Solinho.png

Arguably the unsung hero of this season after his troubles in the last. Looked like he wasn't favoured but the formation switch and getting over his injury problems has propelled him to the heart of the Redcafe FC midfield. He's enjoying being at the club now and has Mark Elstob as a favoured personnel. 11 goals and 13 assists in 32 (5) league appearances with a 7.36 rating. The team now has the playmaker which they perhaps lacked last season but also someone that can burst into the box and get 10+ goals for the side. He was also in the shortlist for the VNL Player of the Season. Keep it up.

@Heine

Heine.png

Another solid season for the Dutch winger! He's a consistent presence on the left for the club and chips in with goals and assists as needed. He slightly underperformed his xG this season in the league but overperformed on the assist front! 16 goal contributions in 31 (10) games in the league isn't too shabby and with a 7.34 rating he will be hoping for more of the same in the next season and so will the club. Along with Sol he was shortlisted for the VNL Player of the Season. He's also been called up for the U19 side at International level.

He thinks that his teammate Panutche Camara is a talented player.

@hobbers

hobbers.png

Hobbers only cares about one thing. Goals. Not fussed about assisting people. 20 goals in 37 (5) appearances for the striker was nearly enough to get him over the line but he missed out on the top goalscorer gong to Jack Barham of Aldershot who nabbed 21. He won't be fussed as his job for the season was to become undisputed starter and he's got that nailed down now. He broke the record for most goals in a season for Redcafe FC with 22 overall. With an average rating of 7.07 and two U21 caps for Scotland to his name now, the striker will be aiming to go one further next season and get the top scorer award for the league.

He also thinks that his teammate Panutche Camara is a talented player.

Catman Jones wants to become the RW version of Bale for Redcafe FC. What a superb footballer. He suffered multiple injuries this season including a twisted knee and fractured toe but that didn't stop him reaching a staggering 14 goals and 18 assists in 32 (6) games. Once again he topped the charts for a season, with the most assists in the league, most POTM (12) and the highest average rating with 7.67. He was of course named the Player of the Season for the league for the second season in a row. Surprisingly, the Welsh don't care and he hasn't been capped at International or Youth level yet.

He likes Mark Elstob and Panutche Camara.

@harms

Harry Tackles tackled a bit too hard this season and spent a long time out from October to January with a hip injury. Since then he's struggle to hold a place down in the side and his development has stunted slightly. He still managed 22 appearances but he wasn't able to perform to his best and ended the season with an average rating of 6.79. He has been capped at U18 level but I imagine he isn't on the radar of England at the moment. He will be hoping he can get over his injuries in the coming season and get back to being the anchor of the midfield. 10 yellow cards isn't good enough for a man of Harry's temperament and he will surely be targeting at least 15 in League 2 (Good effort though for the games he played!).

Other Players

@Enigma_87

Wilder.png

A mixed season for the new City player. On one hand he's barely been involved for the Senior side, with only 2 FA Cup appearances to his name, but on the other he's been a consistent feature in the U21 side and managed to get 12 goals and 13 assists with an average rating of 7.10 for them. He is also our first player to be capped by his International side, making an appearance for Bulgaria against Gibraltar in World Cup Qualifying...and he scored! Good going. He is on the loan list so perhaps we will see him involved at another club next season?

He is hoping that being available for loan leads to first team experience next season.

@sebsheep

seb.png

A decent season for Seb. His QPR side are very average and that probably hampers him slightly but he achieved a respectable 4 goals and 6 assists in 37 games in his first Championship season with an average rating of 6.96. He played for England U19s in the European Championships and they finished as Runner-ups so he has some International pedigree. With a few player of the week accolades in the Championship, the sheep will be hoping that another good season will put him in the shopping window of a better side.

@TheReligion

carlos.png

I think Carlos is missing Brazil or Chester. Either way things at Swansea aren't turning out very well for him. He started the season in the U21 side and performed well with 11 goals in 19 games for them and an average rating of 7.05. He was called up from then on to the senior side and spent most of the season sitting on the bench for them. Getting the odd appearance but doing very very little. He needs a loan move ideally but I'm unsure if Swansea are going to give him that. Perhaps an early sign he could be in the wonderkid graveyard?

His short term plan is to break into the first team.

Do you have the technical know-how to add the AI headshots as profile pictures? Shouldn't be too difficult.

Yes! I forgot and it was on my to do list.

cat1.png

Done now and will be that way for future updates.

Pretty pleased with how it's gone so far, didn't expect to get so much game time at QPR this season.

@SilentWitness are you planning to age the AI portraits as the players age? Not to add more work, but if the experiment doesn't balloon in scope as you're doing it, is it even really a true Caf experiment?

Aye, perhaps in intervals. If I have the patience and strenght to carry on and get to their 30s I think something like 21/25/30 seems fair to try and age the AI portraits. That also depends on me getting the AI to work how I want it to!

I assume that since those aren’t “skills” and rather hidden temperamental values they should’ve remained the same in the simulation.
