Fabregas' statement is hardly the ringing endorsement.
"I cannot deny that joining a club like Barcelona was not an attractive move for me. This was the club where I learnt my football, it is my home town where my friends and family are and a club where I have always dreamed of playing."
"I am a professional and I fully understand that it is Arsenal's prerogative not to sell me."
If I was an Arsenal fan, I wouldn't feel to confident about Fabregas' commitment to Arsenal. Seems he saying he will stay because he has no choice, Arsenal won't sell him, so he will make the best of a bad situation.

It doesn't make for great reading but it's better than bullshitting. At least we can forget about it (til next summer).I wouldn't be happy about his comments as an Arsenal fan, but it's better than lying and pretending nothing has happened.
Fabregas is a humble lad, well done to him for showing complete loyalty
I know how hard it must be to turn up to training alongside Diaby,Eboue,Walcott,Denilson etc and not think of better days
Much respect
Well yes, they all know he wants to go to Barcelona, he's not hiding that, but he's respecting Arsenal's decision, atleast he's not handing in a transfer request
I am not really sure how transfers work, but if he puts in a transfer request, doesn't that mean he receives no part of the transfer fee and loses any loyalty bonus he may have written into his contract?
I couldn't tell you, I was using it as a symbol of him telling the 'club to sell him now' but Fabregas would rather stay flopping on the trophy side than disrespect the club that helped shaped him
I understand he doesn't want to disrespect Arsenal, he seems like a nice kid and he's probably genuinely torn over the situation. However it sounds to me his heart isn't in it anymore and it brings up the question do you really want to keep a player who wants to be elsewhere.
That is the key problem, and I truly hope this backfires on Wenger
Fabregas is a pro and he doesn't hate Arsenal he just wants to go home, he'll give his all - you'll see.
None of those offers, in any way, exceeded €40 million.

Barcelona should shut the feck up. I hope Real rip 'em a new one. More than a club/ A bunch of cnuts and muffdivers.
Not handing in a transfer request is hardly a massiv show of loyalty. It's mainly about not being stupid enough to spend his last season as a hate figure, without making any real difference to the outcome.
Totally on your side on this one peter. I hope Real win La Liga this season, not because I love Real, but Barca need to come to planet earth for a bit.
But I must say, out of all the Spanish/Barcelona players, funnily enough Fabregas is the one who seems to have maintained some dignity. The rest have just been utterly classless.
do you honestly think Madrid winning LaLiga would make a bit of difference to how Barca have handled things?

Is true.
It's not true, Fabregas could have done alot more to push this transfer through if it was not fo his respect for Arsenal fans and Wenger.

I don't see the power he has honestly. I think I'm correct in saying that he has a very very long contract with Arsenal. Wenger can sell him whenever he feels like, Barcelona will want him next summer and the one after that just as much as they want now. He can just sit on it if he wants waiting for 50 million.Well if he did hand in a transfer request, Wenger would truly know that he can't give his all to Arsenal and would have no choice but to listen to Bacelona, people are underestimating the power Fabregas has to push this transfer through.
Just out of curiosity does anyone know when Fabregas actually signed his last contract - not just it's quoted end date.

2006
he signed an 8 year contract
I remember thinking that's a awfully long contract at the time. If he had signed a 5-6 year deal instead he would be chilling in Spain right now.
He's contracted to 2015 now so we could tell Barca to piss off next summer if they don't put 70M euros on the table..BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Arsenal | Fabregas signs new Arsenal deal
