Fabregas wants to go to Barcelona

Fabregas himself has said there is zilch chance of him playing for another Premier League club. Plus, who was the last relevant transfer between United and Arsenal since the inception of the PL era (please refrain from saying Tweety )? We wouldn't sell a player of his quality to a rival on these shores..it most definitely is going to be Spain if he's going to move anywhere.

Will be interesting if City move for him.

I can't see him going to Madrid for the simple fact that it'll put the block on a move to Barca at any point in the future.

Its also abundantly clear that he won't play every week at Barca, regardless of how much he loves the club.

A move to city on mega bucks might suit him for a couple of years before Xavi packs in and leaves him a space in the first team.

Stranger things have happened.

Not at all, I believe he alluded to it before if given the chance.

I think Fabregas' desire to win silverware outstrips his Catalan loyalties.

Xavi is leaving any time soon and Fabregas was whistled off when he was subbed at the Camp Nou a few months ago.

It's hardly a Figo situation because gasman didn't do anything substantial at Barca in the first place.

I think he'd never go near them.

I could always see him doing a Torres and going to Chelsea though.

I'll quote myself from the other thread

I think Xavi to City rumours may have some credence. He is probably just about to exit his prime (next year or two) while Fabregas should just be entering his. If Barcelona can sell Xavi and sign Fabregas while possibly coming out in the black in terms of the transfer fee I would say its a job well done.

Xavi was not as good as Fabregas at his age, and I think in that Barca team Fabregas could be absolutely brilliant, and his signing could ensure this period of an extremely strong Barcelona team carries on longer than would currently be the case.

I never envisaged Owen coming here.

Unless we know Gas personally, I don't see how we can completely rule out the possibility.

He wasn't even a legend at Barca nor did he play for the first team.

In the summer the opportunity may arise go to Real and become a superstar, earning major bucks, play in laliga and work under Joss Mourinho.

If Barca aren't willing to pay what Arsenal want for him as the president said in the Summer maybe they don't Value him that much.

He's 31. Playing the role he plays he could have another 4 or 5 top seasons in him.

How many centre midfielders last that long? Due to Barcelona's pressing game they have to cover a lot of ground, and it wouldn't surprise me if his performances begin to fall away in the next year or two, I actually don't think he's been up to his usual standards in the second half of this season.

And the reason for that is.........

Or it could bad form just like with any other player.I think it's too soon to even mention age as a possible to explain his performances. It's not easy to maintain such a high level of consistency at any age

I find it hard to believe it would break that quietly from 'givemefootball.com' if it were true.

El Mundo Deportivo reported today that Wenger would keep his promise of letting Fabregas go this summer and the first discussions would take place this week.

But this givemefootball thingy is highly entertaining. Especially the last line.

If Fabregas does leave, then Arsenal may see West Ham United midfielder as an ideal replacement.

West Ham, apparently, are stocked with ready-made replacements for Fabregas. I wonder how they got relegated.

I think it's the WHOLE of West Ham United that's the replacement, according to that.

The source isn't credible but it doesn't need a source to guess that Fabregas has bascially already left Arsenal. At the age of 24, he isn't a young boy anymore and needs to go somewhere where he actually has the chance to win something. Arsenal bottle and bottle it and as much as I respect Wenger, he's too stubborn to learn (or maybe he simply doesn't have the money).

Apparently the original source is Cadena Ser radio or whatever its called, which certainly has similarities to all the noise on Spanish radio wehn Cristiano Ronaldo went to Madrid.

Except that Cadena Ser announces all of Madrid's and most of Barcelona's signings several times. Ronaldo had been signed by Madrid about five or six times in the Spanish media before they actually signed him.

It really isn't a reliable source, simply bound to get lucky sometimes through sheer numbers.
