Fabregas wants to go to Barcelona

That is obviously true but it's equally true that it's hypocritical of Arsenal to complain about Barcelona's tactics.

It's all hypocritical, that's the thing. A United fan or an Arsenal fan moaning about the morals of other big clubs is a joke. United can be proud of many things, as can Arsenal and as can Barcelona and Real Madrid but one thing no big club can be proud of is their handling of business. After all like any large corporation type thing it's business, and what happens in business is you try and get the best deals for your own company. If that means shitting out smaller companies (no matter how big they think they are) then it'll be done.

The difference in these cases is the profile is much higher. Nobody blinks when a kid is taken from one club to another. When a big club uses it's muscle against the smallers. It's only a big deal when it's high profile, like Ronaldo and now Fabregas.

For me the one issue I have is clubs being claimed to have higher moral standards than others. Most clubs, especially the big ones, are equally as hypocritical and as shady as each other. Every single one of them tap up and poach players. Just some like Real prefer to 'sin'' in public.

I actually posted that to show how ridiculous it all is.

So what he was a Barcelona youth player. Pony up the cash.

Pay da club his monies

I don't get the "he signed at 16, he didn't know what he was doing" argument at all - not with Fabregas, not with Macheda, not with any of them. At 16, they've been around a while, they know the business, they've got agents and legal advice - they are way more savvy than their parents were when they originally signed them onto academy forms as kids.

Even if I buy the argument that Fabregas was young and easily flattered - he signed another contract. He isn't playing on his 2003 contract, he chose to renew, by which time he knew even more and had even better legal advice.

So Barcelona waited until Arsenal had completed his training, and he'd got plenty of experience, and then noting that Xavi's now 30 and that Iniesta's a bit injury prone they thought they should buy him at a price that suits them - well bad luck, it has to suit Arsenal as well.

Gotta laugh at Arsenal. No sooner had they got rid of that pansy Gallas as captain, than his replacement starts wanting away from the club. A quick look round the team reveals a complete dearth of any captain material. A team of mentally weak children and nobodies. Arsenal 5 or 6 years ago, you could have named any player on the pitch as captain.

Breaking news:

Barca's Janitor misses Fabregas

"Yes, he is a great player. I miss mopping up his piss off the toilet floor. Everyone wants him back."

We definitely need some leaders on the pitch. I can see Vermaelen eventually developing into one as he's our toughest player, and biggest fighter, but aside from him I really couldn't pick any from our squad. Fabregas can lead by example, but he's just not the inspiring Captain you'd want to lead your side into a battle.

That Spahic character sounds like a natural leader (Captain of Bosnia), and even he wouldn't get near the armband if he signed, it would be nice to have someone like him on the pitch.

Sigh, what I'd do for another Vieira.

But it's not really a case of finding captains is it. I mean so many years have passed and there have been so few signings like Vermaelen - gutsy players. I mean, I don't believe we have a natural leader in our team either, but we've got a lot of players who can fight for the team and be leaders in their own right. Vidic, Evra and Rio are all leaders in their own right. Fletcher has this grit and energy that seems to raise the team, Rooney's desire does that too.

I'm not trying to boast about United. What I'm trying to say that all these years a certain percentages of Arsenal's signings should have been 'fighters'.

I think you would be moaning about if it they were doing it to Rooney.

What Barca and their players are doing is a piss take. They are trying to unsettle him.

If they want him, put a bid on the table.

not is rooney shut the door on it like giggs with inter or scholes with......no one since clubs just knew he'd never leave.

at the end of the day, the players in the middle of transfers have the ability to shut down 'tapping up/unsettling'. This only occurs when a player obviously has some inclination to leave. its as much fabregas' issue as it is with barca.

This is a good point and exactly why your title challenges keep dying away at the tough end of the season. Given the players that are available and assuming you have money to spend who would you like to see brought in?

So you were not pissed off when Real chased Ronaldo for the past couple of seasons?

Why because they have the whole "more than a club" thing as their moto?

It's a peice of history for the Catalan people, why shouldn't they remember that and keep it as part of the clubs history. Does it make them think they are better than anyone else? it probably makes them think they are better than Real Madrid, that's about it.

Wrong. Because no club is more moral than any other. They are all hypocritical and tap up merchants. I wasn't just speaking of Barca here.

Real are hated because they 'sin' in public with impunity. The rest do so in secret. Remember the real reason Stam was sold for example? Or how Spurs mourned about Berbatov when they stole Bostock? Even Barca so famously stole Enrique from Real on a free. Then there is Arsenal and Flamini...it goes on and on

What was the real reason Stam was sold?

BBC Sport - Football - Cesc Fabregas commits himself to Arsenal for the season

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has pledged himself to the club, ending speculation of a summer move to Spanish side Barcelona.

The 23-year-old has been linked with Barca all summer, with the Gunners rejecting two bids from the Catalans.

In a statement released by his agent, Fabregas said he is "100% focused" on playing for Arsenal.

World Cup winning midfielder Fabregas joined the north Londoners from home-town club Barcelona in 2003.

More to follow.

Barcelona fans aren't happy about this. They're also a bunch of arrogant wankers:

Cesc Fabregas

You just don´t get it. There is no market price for Cesc as Cesc won´t move anywhere but Barca. You are lucky enough that he is a class guy and hasn´t given in a transfer request. If Arsenal had class like their captain they would grant him his wish and let him move on and not leach off him for another dry season.

They have a very unusual definition of "class"...

There are no innocent victims in this ordeal as far as I can see it. Barca, Arsenal, and Cesc have all acted like assholes in this saga.

Er, because they won't talk to Barcelona about a player they don't want to sell?

Rejecting and renegotiating an offer is one thing, but refusing to sell and handcuffing the poor kid is stupid. Even if he did sign an extension, he doesn't want to be there (according to everyone) and is doing a pretty good job of showing it. Whatever though, let him stay, too many bad decisions on everyone's part to keep on pointing the finger at one party.

What's stupid about not wanting your best player to leave?

Cesc Fabregas

Wow I cannot beleive how bitter you guys are, I guess supporting Barca for 3 yrs like most of you makes you used to winning things and getting your own way

Gooner tells it as it is...

What if Barca goes a trophyless season?

It could happen.

...And Arsenal win the league?

I hope you do.

I don't think that this will matter to Fabregas, to be honest.

Anyway, I'm glad that those arrogant, that this transfer saga didn't go Barca's way. Hopefully Real Madrid will give them a run for their money this season.

Bizarre as usual. You would think Barcelona had noised up Ronaldo.

Also Madrid gave Barcelona a run for their money last season. You hatred for all things spain is tiresome.

Fabregas is a humble lad, well done to him for showing complete loyalty

I know how hard it must be to turn up to training alongside Diaby,Eboue,Walcott,Denilson etc and not think of better days

Much respect
