F1 2024 Season

Only Brits hate him from what I can see, nowhere on the internet I saw this kind of hate for him.

Lando acts like a twat far more, but no one seems to hate him, which is weird considering he comes from the same country. But we all know the real reason.

Whats the real reason?

Does anybody really hate Russell? Compare how people respond to him vs Verstappen for example. The stuff you see on Facebook is just mad. It's beyond compare really. With Russell it's just that he isn't very likeable. Hasn't got anything about him that really stands out. Not particularly nice or funny or anything really. I used to think he seemed a nice guy but then he joined Mercedes and instantly developed their special traits (like trying to feck other drivers over by whining about anything and everything, track limits in particular and usually when they're the ones actually doing it) and that was that really. Now I'm pretty indifferent about him.

Because he is challenging Hamilton, hate started here since the end of season before the last, no one seemed to care about him before that.

I mean, no one really hates any driver except some that hate Max. But it's obvious some people have irrational dislike for him.

I don't think anyone really hates a driver, apart from proper weirdos, that's a bit of a strong way to put it. I know I dislike some drivers because of their personalities, but that doesn't really matter on the track. What I dislike about drivers, and it's not their fault obviously, is when they dominate the sport. That gets old very quick, and I think with some weirdos out there that's where the hate comes from.

But nearly all the drivers become a bit unlikeable when they start doing really well and winning races and stuff, there's very few that don't. But you need that cockiness and being sure of yourself to be successful.

Agree re Lando keep bodging the start, which then draws him back into positions he shouldn't be in

Wonder if Oscar is the potential future world title winner out of the 2
I don’t think that’s a maybe.

It’s going to be funny when Lando’s toys come out of the pram as he comes to realise that Oscar is the far superior of the two drivers.

No I definitely don't like him because he's comes across as an absolute wanker. I always thought he came across as so entitled when he's achieved very little in the grand scheme of things. I'm no Lewis fan because I think he just seems super false, but I'm picking Lewis out of two every time.

Lando doesn't really bother me generally, but I can't condone his behaviour of last week especially
Definitely rubbed people the wrong way.

What do we think RB will do about Perez?
Theres a decision meeting tomorrow. I think they will publicly say they still back him but start to look at drivers to replace him for 2025.

Though sacking him now and putting Liam Lawson in for the last 10 races couldn't hurt? He couldn't do worse than Perez. Let him audition for the 2025 seat.

Still think it's madness not to put Sainz in the other seat for 2025. A Verstappen/Sainz pairing on paper looks better than a Verstappen/Perez or Verstappen/Lawson.

Though, it could be possible that Sainz struggles to come to terms with a RedBull that is pointy and oversteers (something Max likes). Which was the case with the ferrari last season when Leclerc could handle a pointy/oversteering Ferrari and Sainz struggled. Then when the car was more balanced, Sainz improved and Leclerc struggled.

RedBull may already know if Lawson can handle a car designed the way max likes it.

How is it obvious though?

They didnt drain the fuel properly and he just coincidentally happens to be underweight when they do?

It does reek of them hoping he wouldnt get scrutineered knowing this would happen, but then he won the race and ended up scrutineered.

Thanks, had missed the part about the fuel.

Just a thought - do you think Lewis is regretting switching to Ferrari considering how well the Merc's have been performing these last few races?
I'd say he probably is a small bit yeh. But next year's cars could be different again, mercedes might be nowhere and Ferrari might be faster, who knows?

Got to feel for Russel, losing the win that way.

Norris has to be disappointing to have finished behind Max as well, particularly as Oscar finished 2nd in the end.

I doubt it. He's getting to drive for Ferrari for a couple of years - there's no better place to be. Racing for Red Bull or Merc is like playing for City.

It's probably his looks and/or his cocky personality combined with his posh accent. Do people love Hamilton so much they won't support another English driver in the same car taking over from him? That's a bit weird.

Only has himself to thank for that as he was on Max's arse with a tyre advantage for half the race and still couldn't get past.

Russell was arrogant and cocky at times at Williams too. It isn't just a Mercedes thing. Until this season he hadn't backed up that arrogance either, he was still making consistent mistakes and bottling it when it mattered despite that arrogance.

It was also seen on drive to survive, I can’t remember what it was but he was sat out having food with his girlfriend and he’s just smug. I’ve got no problem with him beating Hamilton though, it’s great to have a few brits near the top of the pack

| Marko critical of Perez: ‘He completely collapsed’

- Helmut Marko has mentioned multiple times that Sergio Perez's seat will be discussed on the Monday following the Belgian Grand Prix.

- Perez has faced widespread criticism for his underperformance on track.

- He started Sunday's race from P2 but finished in P8, later promoted to P7 after George Russell's disqualification.

- The top advisor, Helmut Marko, was displeased with Perez's result in Belgium.

"Sergio had the chance to get a good result from second place. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Especially in the last stint he completely collapsed, where he set lap times of 1:48. What looked so positive in qualifying unfortunately did not come out during the race,"

"For us, the situation is such that we are also already going through the overall situation for 2025. We have a number of drivers and we have a draft. But of course every result is important for Sergio (Perez), and eighth place from second on the grid is certainly not what we expected,"

If Red Bull miss out on the Championship due to Perez, is the money they lose from that more or less than the money that Perez allegedly brings into the team in terms of sponsor?

Can imagine CH rooting to keep Perez, as he's a yes man, he won't want anyone that can upset the applecart

I can't see them going for Yuki, he's too much of a loose cannon for them to want him going up against Max

Liam Lawson - did well when he came into RB lite and I think he should have kept the seat but to step into the main team after over a year out?

Danny Ric should be nowhere near it but we know how CH is massive fan

Or is there anyone in the lower formulas that they could use? The next Max?

It will be Ric until the end of the season with Lawson in at RB I think, they seem to want to give Ric that one last chance for some reason.

It would be some story if he won a race before season end.

Doesn't Tsunoda generally outperform Ricciardo? So I don't know how he would take a promotion of Ricciardo.

Maybe that's what Red Bull need in a 2nd driver. TBH I think Ricci would be a good nod for the 2nd half of the season. His driving style probably suits the Red Bull more than any of his career moves after leaving the team. And if he's found out as being passed it. Yuki or someone else can have the seat for 2025.

Btw, for Russell, may his one-stop strategy have contributes to his car coming in underweight? He will have worn out his final set of tires more than anyone else. I have no idea what kind of weight that additional tire loss involves though.

A F1 tire weighs about 13kg, so the 4 of them 52kg. I don't think it's beyond the possible that they lose 2% during a race. However anyone building a F1 car should take that into account. I was joking to a friend yesterday that he should have gone through the gravel once in the cool down lap.

Now Max should jump ship to Mercedes and leave Horner with nobody

That's why you usually see them picking up rubber and dirt on the cool-down lap. Spa is the only track on the schedule without a cool down lap because of the track length / layout though.
