F1 2024 Season

Surprised they're all picking Lando to win tne drivers next year, I don't think he's got that edge it needs. He's done well today but the pressure was off him
Yeah I think the WDC is coming from Ferrari next year. Just not sure which driver yet.

Zak and Andrea have done a great job turning that team around

Let's hope they take another step forward next year and can win it again and the drivers

The dream would be 4 teams at the front all competing
Just a shame they're about as likeable as Horner and Marko. Had high hopes for McLaren but this season when the pressure was on they've shown they're no better than them (or Wolff for that matter).

The key for McLaren this season has been the signing of Rob Marshall.

Yep McLaren need to be more ruthless next season, hopefully they're no longer a mid field team so need to make hard decisions no more of this he let you through so need to do the same for him nonsense

Been watching the documentary on Ayrton Senna on Netflix, seen one episode so far and it was decent, will check out the one on Damon too as he was racing when I was growing up

Have to say the Leclerc did not look that happy to have Lewis has his team mate next season

He is very very good friend with Sainz, contrary to the popular belief, and judging from what I have seen this year it doesn't look like he thinks of any driver on the grid much higher than Sainz as a driver anyway. People think because of their racing competition they are not good mates, but they are literally like brothers, I follow them both on social media and they are very happy together. It seems like Sainz is a great guy because he is still good with Lando too. Combined that with being angry over losing the constructor championship, it just wasn't a good moment for Charles and Lewis, but I am sure he will welcome him next year and probably be happy to learn a thing or two from him.

Went to my first ever F1 this weekend.. Had a great time and I’m not a fan. Used to be into it a bit years ago. Loads of stuff to do and concerts on every night which we went to all of them as well as all practices and eventually the race

What I would say though, I think watching on Sky might be better for actual fans of the sport. You really see feck all of the race. We were on one of the straights and it was just very hard to follow.

Press lady may be more emotional than Carlos. Honestly feels like one of the most unfair "demotions" in the sport I can recall. Hope Williams turn things around a bit next year. At least they have a good one in Vowles. Something about Charles and Carlos paired together just felt right. Maybe it's the sexy factor.

End up being a good second half of the season with multiple teams all being fastest at different tracks. Hopefully next year is the same, and we don't end up with the bore fest that was the first half of the season.

He has a break clause in his contract for 2026, incase something better turns up

That's good then. Would be a waste of talent otherwise.

On another note:

The FIA has announced Verstappen will serve his “work of public interest” punishment while in Rwanda, working with junior competitors in a grassroots development programme organised by the Rwanda Automobile Club. Verstappen’s work will involve an FIA Affordable Cross Car that was built in Rwanda.

Sounds like a noble cause.
Near the end of the article something I didn't know:

Verstappen’s previous FIA community service penalty, given to him for his confrontation with Esteban Ocon at the 2018 Brazilian GP, led to him attending the Marrakech Formula E round in early 2019 to shadow the event stewards. He then later attended a winter stewards’ training seminar in Geneva.

The FIA unknowingly created a rule bending monster

Depends on the circuit.

Abu Dhabi has some great spots. We were horizon 360 this year and you could see loads; Abu Dhabi hill is even better.

Did the Lewis Hamilton stand offer in Vegas and that was shit though.

No idea how true this is.
There’s a rumor in the paddock caught by a Brazilian F1 journalist that says Mercedes might be considering a late swap for their driver lineup for next year. They’d send Kimi Antonelli to Williams for development in a low pressure environment and get Carlos Sainz for the time being for the expertise.

Rumours emerged on Saturday about this and Wolff denied it on the grid on Sunday.

That would have been a very sensible move 6 months ago for next season. Russell-Sainz, would be an intriguing pairing.

Unfortunately I think it'll be Max again for the drivers
Not sure, I think the Ferrari’s & McLaren’s have quicker cars and RB will struggle to catch up. If Ferrari can give Hamilton a quick car then I think he’ll surprise everyone who wrote him off, he’s still the only driver who can match Max in a title race imo, he won’t wilt away. Don’t be foolish enough to write Hamilton off I reckon.
Then Verstappen to Mercedes in 2026..

Intriguing but also potentially explosive. I dont think Carlos would go to another team expecting to be the no.2 driver. Or at least not without guarantees that he ll get the exact same access and benefits as George like he mostly seemed to enjoy at Ferrari.

Yes I agree with that.
Whenever Mercedes has given Hamilton a car he can push with, he comes alive.

But I would be surprised if his move to Ferrari works out straight away.

Will be interesting indeed but one benefit though I can see is that Lewis and Charles' driving style is more aligned than that of Charles and Carlos which may benefit car setup and design.

I think they would be on equal footing which is why I'm curious. They both have very similar driving styles, very smooth and stable. Ironically Hamilton and Leclerc suit each other in terms of driving style.

On a side note, no one seems to be discussing how badly piastri's season has gone post summer break. He's not been good. Poor in qually at times, poor in the races. Bad judgement. It's been weird.

Would hazard a guess that all the weight was thrown behind Lando getting a winning car so that he could compete for the title including setup resources etc.

We were at ‘The Hill’ and we had good views of the hairpin by North Grandstand which then came into the DRS zone, so we saw a good few overtakes there. Also, there was a big screen there too which helped keep everyone up to date which what was happening around the circuit. I’d definitely recommend trying there if you’re planning on going back next year.

Good point.
