F1 2021 Season

I am a huge Hamilton fan and my respect for him has just grown and grown in recent years.

Some of the pathetic souls hating on the one guy on the grid that combines grit, skill, a background not based on money or F1 heritage and who's fought tooth and nail to get where he is should be keep quiet.

Oh wow, I was only taking the piss. To get a response so salty is just the icing on the cake of this wonderful day

Have a nice day

Edit: Oh, forgot that Hamilton just lost the championship in the final lap, and you're angrily chomping at your keyboard - so you're probably not having the best day. Hope it improves for you anyway

I just can’t see how allowing just those 5 cars to unlap themselves is fair or upholds the actual rules. It seems part of the rules were picked to give us this final bit of drama, which only had one outcome.

Fair play to Max, he’s been brilliant and RB took their chances and played a key role in him winning.
The rules are a bit iffy. Even allowing the overtaking is at the race controllers discretion.

I don't understand how rules can be changed on the fly like that. Surely there'll be some sort of legal challenge?

If they’d let all of them through the race would have finished under the safety car. FIA didn’t want that, so they changed the rules so they could make the end of the race exciting. Unfortunately for Lewis it meant he had no chance of winning.
More specifically they changed the rules to make Max wdc.

The argument you want to end on a racing lap is a dumb one when you've just had 50 odd racing laps and Hamilton was miles ahead.

I'm not an F1 fan really but like many others got attracted by the title decider narrative.

I'm not bothered who won but purely from a sporting perspective how can the sport justify just wiping out a 10 sec advantage? What was the point of racing the previous 57 laps if they're just going to ignore them?

Mental situation and not something which will turn me on to the sport long term. A complete and utter sporting farce

The last 2 races were great entertainment but really not a good look for Michael Masi & the people running the sport. There is far too much being decided by race control

Congratulations to Max for winning. You cannot deny he hasn't deserved it, but that is a shocking way to end things.

If FIA wanted racing then let Lewis pit and have the same tyre and race, not in a handicapped like this .
Yeah that’s what sticks in the throat. I’ve got no skin in the game, I’m not exactly enamoured by Hamilton but I can’t stand Verstappen so maybe I have a bit of bias to the one I dislike the least but I watched today for drama and that was Made in Chelsea rather than The Wire.

The claim is that they set it up for a 1v1 fight in a flying lap but that’s not what it was, it was an execution. Closest dramatic comparison you could find is probably Rickon Stark. Maybe Hamilton should have zigzagged

This sucks. The inconcistency in how races get decided is maddening and detrimental to the sport.

That's a rather large issue surely?

You're basically how Horner would post if he's on here.

What is it with salty Hamilton fanboys and spamming smileys like children?

Just drink it in and enjoy a new world champion. Hopefully there's another new one next season.

i was really looking forward to today and i’m completely flat now. that was so, so shit.

They bottled both decisions today, should have made lewis give the place back and then it was the wrong decision in the end to allow only the cars between Lewis and Max overtake the safety car.

Shambles from the FIA

Netflix in Masi's ear at the end? That was closer to wrestling then a sport.
Not just me then. It felt orchestrated. The last fecking lap and they're suddenly next to each other

Dude who crashed is in on it too I bet.

On a race that I expect had more eyes on it than any F1 race in many many many years, it's a disaster of a way for it to be decided. It just makes the whole thing look stupid.

Congratulations to Max for winning. You cannot deny he hasn't deserved it, but that is a shocking way to end things.
If deserving means achieving it through your own skills and application, no he didn't deserve it.

The problem with the current rules is it gives the advantage to second place because they can afford to do what the leading car doesn't. I think they need to look at either forcing mandatory pits during safety cars or giving a time penalty for doing it.
The leading car can pit. It was unlucky for Lewis because of where he was on the track when the incident happened. Otherwise he would have been pitted, put on softs and maintained track position.

If they enforced mandatory pits then Lewis would have ended up losing track position for the restart

Yup. If all the other cars couldn’t unlap themselves then it ends under the safety car. Or none of them unlap themselves. Simple.

Max still hasn’t said anything about Lewis…interview two now. Oh there we go - button asked him so he had to say something.

the funny thing is it was dubbed as a title decider and lewis absolutely pissed all over him today.

then the deus ex machine hits. sickening way to end it. It should never be settled like that.

Well shit ending to an entertaining season. It will be interesting to see what happens when we get details on what the actual rules are, and the dust settles. Definitely feels like the FIA have selected their current favourite as the seasons winner.

Hopefully next season we have some different teams fighting for the championship.
