F1 2021 Season

If FIA wanted racing then let Lewis pit and have the same tyre and race, not in a handicapped like this .
bingo. mercedes fecked up thinking the rules would be applied fairly

should have pitted him when they had the chance. what a joke

To be fair though, feck Lewis
I am a huge Hamilton fan and my respect for him has just grown and grown in recent years.

Some of the pathetic souls hating on the one guy on the grid that combines grit, skill, a background not based on money or F1 heritage and who's fought tooth and nail to get where he is should be keep quiet.

The convention is usually to let all the lapped cars pass and rejoin the back of the pack. Because the time taken to do that would have left the race finishing under SC, they made the call to not let lapped cars pass. However, this left backmarkers between Lewis and Max.

Then Red Bull have presumably had a whinge and Masi has then specifically let the backmarkers in Max's way past, and not all the others - effectively gifting the title to Max because of the tyre situations.
Honestly it was weird that he first decided not to let them past and then did it anyway a few laps later. If they had decided immediately to let the lapped cars pass all would have been well. The decision not to do that wasn't right. It's unlucky for Hamilton and just extremely bad strategically from Mercedes.

The problem with the current rules is it gives the advantage to second place because they can afford to do what the leading car doesn't. I think they need to look at either forcing mandatory pits during safety cars or giving a time penalty for doing it.

@Jerch @Massive Spanner @ArjenIsM3 @altodevil right now be like...

I'm not a max fan...

Not a Red Bull or Max fan but cheered like feck.

Nothing better than seeing the Hamilton biased fanboys on here crying.

YAAAASSS

Haha still bitter about Alonso or something? Red Bull took their chance, fair play. But this race demonstrates that F1 just make shit up, ridiculous “sport”.

hamilton’s interview at the end is something max would be incapable of if the roles were reversed.

There's over 10 years age difference between them. I'm sure Lewis acts differently today than he did 10 years ago, too?

I honestly still don't get what happened. Was the FIA's decision a correct one?
Unprecedented to only let 5 cars through.
I do think they should have allowed overtaking though, but only 5 is the contentious part

The sport is a complete farce with that ending.

It is not a sport it is just an entertainment spectacle like WWF.

Netflix in Masi's ear at the end? That was closer to wrestling then a sport.

Classy from Lewis there.

Yes indeed. Really don't think I could have been such a gentleman as Hamilton. Well done to both of them but I have to say that it leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth.
Not that Verstappen did anything wrong.
But. How can the stewards change their minds so quickly.

Yeah, we want to end it racing… just not with the way it was after 50 odd laps of racing.

nah. max has been racing for years now. he’s just a dick.

That's a joke. But entertainment ahead of fairness I guess.

And jesus was that last lap entertaining. My heart was beating something serious.

I mean that's just quite sad though. Getting aroused on seeing people upset is not a great quality to have.
Not at all.

I wouldn't say the same to normal honest fans who can be subjective, but the fanboys on here are insufferable and make this thread tedious often, like the Messi vs Ronaldo thread.

Same with Max fanboys btw, although I didn't see one person say Max shouldn't have got a penalty in Brazil. That's the difference.

If they’d let all of them through the race would have finished under the safety car. FIA didn’t want that, so they changed the rules so they could make the end of the race exciting. Unfortunately for Lewis it meant he had no chance of winning.
