F1 2021 Season

3 for VB but 5 for MV.

Many posts look utterly stupid in here now..

At least they’ve dealt with it consistently it seems. It’ll be fun to watch Max come back through the grid. Gonna be a tough task on this track though.

Why? The incidents they were summoned for were different.
Its fairly simple and straight forward tbh.

People were suggesting they favour Red Bull and might not even give him a penalty. If they were as biased as made out on here they could easily have made it 3 places.

Well yes, they didn't show clear bias. Well done to them, not sure it deserves much credit.

Yeah … the outcome of this has nothing to do with any of that though, so meaningless.

That could be huge, if it turns out to be difficult to overtake as some have suggested, max being behind Bottas, even for a few laps, could be big.

Max will also be aggressive from the start now you’d imagine. All makes it very exciting.

Eh, I think some were suggesting IF that happened.

Stewards have followed consistency here which is good.

I really do wonder if their stance on “hard racing” in Brazil could cause then issues here.
As an aside, I’m once super happy that this helps Lewis and also that the FIA have stuck to precedent. It would have been exciting to see them battle at the top of the track though. Especially that drive into T1.

As if these last few races arent nailbititing enough. These penalties just add to the drama. Cant watch the race at 2pm, but recording it on sky so will watch when I get back tonight and expect 10 plus pages of comments to catch up on.

That’s such a bad argument. F1 drivers coped with yellow flags simply being waved before this tech.

Looking at the line up ahead of Max, I really think their take in hard racing could bite them. The likes of Alonso really don’t have much to lose and are capable of defending aggressively. If the track is as hard as predicted to overtake, he could struggle. Be fascinating to see him come through. Doesn’t feel like there has been too many races where Max had to start a bit lower down this year.

I’ve already made sure my wife doesn’t slot shit in to our schedule for the remaining 2 Sundays of the season!

Horner is so insufferable. Makes all of Lewis moaning looks like a child's play compare to his. Blaming everything and anything, so hypocrite.

I think the RB is sufficiently faster than all else except Merc that he should be able to get past most other cars through a combo or pit stop timing and overtaking, even on a difficult track like this. If I was Max or a Max fan though, that turn 1 is so fast that the potential for carnage is real. If I were him I would hug the inside line as close as physically possible. But that gives you a poor run into T2 where you’d be on the outside. not gonna be easy.

I was lead to believe by Redcafe that the FIA would never dare give Max a penalty?????????

Can't see this being a particularly interesting race, fingers crossed I'm wrong.

This is the thing. Until a few seasons ago I really didn’t like Lewis and would root his team mate. But he’s just so different now. The things he stands up for, the air of vulnerability, and his arrogance seems much more in a better place. Even despite all the carnage in Brazil, he had his say but ultimately didn’t moan, just got into it and did his bit on the track.

I really want to like Max. Because he is quick and straight talking and aggressive. He wants to win. But, right now he’s just such a dick. Didn’t and doesn’t praise others if they do a good lap or have a good race. Just acts like a thug On track.

But, part of it is how he is enabled by Horner. I really think under another leader Max wouldn’t be so dislikeable.

There are a lot of hardcore Max fans on here for whom he can do no wrong. Some are so determined to defend him they pretend to be fans of other teams/drivers in an attempt to give their bias more merit.

I really want to like Max, he's so quick, but he's too unlikeable and spoiled, and isn't helped by Red Bull and the FIA letting him get away with stuff all the time.
I totally agree. He is fast, no doubt but his weaving and dirty driving when desperate puts me off him.

Think the FIA had to punish him this time, especially as many other drivers were starting to call out the favouritism. E.g vettel.

Alonso is going to be a danger at the start, he has nothing to lose and hates Hamilton

Nah, he always fights clean and is the best out there for judging car position and avoiding contact. His car won't be quick enough over 10 laps to keep Hamilton behind.

Both Gasly and Alonso are on softs too right?
Long run into T1, slip stream and soft vs medium. Think it could be tough for Hamilton at the start of this.
