Do you want the ESL to happen?

UEFA have reiterated Fifa's stance that players taking part in the Super League would be banned from all other competitions at domestic, European or world level and could be prevented from representing their national teams.

Total joke of a threat. Not only are there a million legal impediments to this happening, but every sponsor of the World Cup and every other competition would cry bloody murder and/or pull out.

Brain, remind us how the clubs made the decision. fecking points finger at green screen.

Look at Boris Johnson saying the easy and popular thing.
Sickening.

Wonder what else he's hiding from us and using this as a distraction. I'm so fed up. I want politicians to stay out of my sport.
He's saying what everyone else is saying and thinks is right as well. And that includes plenty of other politicians and non-footballers. Why, as PM, should he be denied a voice? Or be criticised for holding the 'right' opinion in most peoples eyes?

If he'd said he was in favour of it, he'd be slated. If he refused to comment, when everyone else is criticising it, he'd be accused of cowardice and not wanting to upset the wealthy and powerful. If he condemns it the same as everyone else, he's 'saying the easy and popular thing'. In short, he was going to be slated by some whatever he said, or refused to say.

Imagine the PL without the top 6 and La Liga without Barce, Madrid and Ath Madrid, they haven’t got the power to ban them it would be financial suicide for the PL and La Liga

Suck it up boys the big clubs are off.

I'm not a local fan, I watch the CL final to see the 2 best teams in europe play a match. I dont care what they're called. Would a final between Arsenal and Milan be more attractive?
Fair point but I won't. If those teams are banned, I'm not subscribing to CL tv .

They just make this bloke say rattled in Scottish cause it sounds dangerous. Rattled.

Even if I do understand why some clubs want the Superleague, I can totally realte to this. Even long ago I have reduce my time watching football as I knew that I am not really missing anything, as in a week there will be another game between to big sides, while the games against small sides are usually very boring.

Yeah, in a weird way, part of me hopes this will become a reality, not because I think the Super league is a great idea, but knowing that European football supporters in general are quite conscious of the bigger picture, I could see a future where the "big guns" play in half-empty stadiums (before eventually relocating to Asia/North America), while the rest of Europe gets on with it and creates classic European nights in stadiums we've barely seen for the past 20 years.

Glaston to log in the next few days proposing a fecking cheese room in some cubby hole in Paris. cnut.

Spurs could have dominated the reinstated English First Division, but Levy decided it would be more profitable to finish bottom of this new Tri-Nations League.

Have Fifa said anything officially?

It would be a bloody earthquake of monumental proportions if they come out in support of this behind Uefas back.
Dear ESL founders,

Do not create that league. Otherwise, you can send the checks with the provided stamped envelopes.

Thank you FIFA

Labour leader Keir Starmer said the clubs involved should "rethink immediately" or "face the consequences of their actions".

"This proposal risks shutting the door on fans for good, reducing them to mere spectators and consumers," he said.

Genuine question. What else are fans other than spectators and consumers?

Honestly the fecking hypocrisy is utterly incredulous.

UEFA should probably delay their announcement of the new CL format due for tomorrow.

That would take the heat out of the situation for a few days. Otherwise this poker game could get real ugly.

I said it earlier in the thread that whilst I don't like a breakaway league but I can understand clubs wanting reforms in the way cl works . Fact is that from a purely business point of view the owners can see that the clubs are missing out on potentially a lot of money because the big clubs don't play each other often enough . I understand that United have been in & out of Europe this decade but the fact is that United have played Real Madrid ( Arguably the two biggest clubs ) what twice (4 games ) in the last 20 years . Liverpool have also hardly played Barca or Real much . I don't know how but that needs to change somehow

I appreciate where you're coming from, but that adds to the spectacle when it does happen. If these ties became regular occurrences, they would completely lose their lustre. Playing the likes of Madrid should never feel as routine as playing Burnley.

The clubs will get what they want. It’s all about who gets what in the end. UEFA will give in soon enough imo.
So let me get this straight. This is a negotiating tactic for whatever it is the clubs are looking for?

How can the rogue owners possibly go through with this after today's shitstorm, which now apparently includes world leaders.

Has there been an official announcement? Haven't seen anything so far?

So what if United join this Superb League? A few fancy games, great commercial opportunities, gain loads of dosh, players come back to England covered in gold, hey United did you get a haircut, look closer Lenny, bloody fantastic and everyone's a winner. Who are Sunderland? The team playing against the guys who hammered AC Milan in a 1-1 draw in Peru across the road from Ian's burger van.

Anyone who doesn't see the greatness of this whole plan is a total idiot.

To be honest, all this uproar is well and good BUT if there is a real will politically, they can literally change the onwership laws for football clubs overnight.

People might call it socialism or communism or whatever but there is no other way of doing this because these guys probably know they fit within the current legal structures.

Bring on the Germany model and give fans a voice to stop this ever happening.

That's fair enough but it also shouldn't be once in a decade occasion either . Also this is where I think the American owners are coming from as well . They have no appreciation for history and want to just make more money

Do you tire of United playing Liverpool every season at least 2 times? It's one of the most important games every season. Same theory probably applies here.

Micah Richards: "What happens to the fans? They're forgotten about for the sake of money?"
