I do not like the Premier League using the fans distaste for the ESL to try and make out that fans all love them and think they have done a wonderful job.

The clubs deserve condemntation but UEFA and the Premier League have brought this on themselves by allowing oil money to utterly destabilise football. I wonder if the subscriptions that they gained from "Aguueeerrooooo" were worth it.
 
I've heard that all the other PL teams have condemned the proposal, but to be honest I think they're only upset cause they're not included.
Are we assuming that the other teams are more moral than us, when in reality they'd love to be included in the proposal?
The premier league is rank with greed top to bottom.

I hope so, the players have the most power here but would they be do bold?

I bet some would gladly give up international football and Champions league for more money

Would be great if the government gets involved and put it some laws giving control back to fans of all clubs. Meaning any decisions regarding the club needs to get approval from fans.

But that wouldn't affect employees like the manager or the players, only other chairmen & board members. It appears as though the owners of the club have been aware of this, only the employees & fans who have been left in the dark. Which is not dissimilar to other companies on the stock exchange.

Is that true even where by getting consumer opinion for example would be important in the decision making process?

Like I said earlier, they're hoping to ride this wave of disapproval, nothing will happen to them this season (in terms of being kicked out of competitions) and through discussions in the coming weeks, I think stances on both sides will soften and the initial 'rules' will have changed and a compromise found.
Or, it won't go ahead at all, and it will be 'forgotten' (in the same way stuff like Juve's match fixing has been 'forgotten' i.e. not not really forgotten and it tarnishes the legacy, but ultimately we've all moved on)

I completely agree with that. I think they've just made a complete mess of this and may actually be stopped due to such strong backlash.

Neither Arsenal, (or Spurs for that matter) are part of "Europe's elite" either on the basis of history, or current performance. It is all about the fact that they are well placed financially, and that's what makes a mockery of this. It's about nothing more than people who don't understand the game, wanting to create a closed shop

I don’t think anyone deserves a guaranteed place in any competition. This competition isn’t about earning a right to be in it. It’s about what the ‘founders’ believe will earn them the most money. In that case, Arsenal are more appropriate for it than Everton, Villa, Forest, Benfica or even Ajax. Nobody should be surprised about the clubs that have been selected based on what this whole thing is all about. Money.
 
It would be interesting to see what would happen to any club that accepts one of the 5 floating league places. I'm sure leagues will quickly creates rules saying anyone who accepts faces points or financial penalties. If you are an Ajax or Everton do you accept a year at the trough only to come back to severe penalties from your local league?

In the NBA it happens but you can't say that it's 15 teams it's 2 or 3 teams out of 30 at the most, for example the Timberwoves aren't tanking, KAT requires surgery but he is still playing big minutes, if the Wolves wanted to tank they could take him out and guarantee to finish last. In the NFL tanking is nearly impossible because players can't half arse it, some teams are simply very bad but the players try hard and you seldomly see lineups that don't feature the best players.

Not sure if baseball still pay 'Luxury Tax', but going back it was well known that owners of smaller teams just pocketed it and did not use it to strengthen their own teams.
