Exactly, but first time at Anfield. Liverpool are on a run of form, but it should never be like this. Haven't seen Shaw play this badly.

I genuinely thought we'd lose today, said as much in the preview thread earlier in the week, not because of Liverpool's form, but that fecking Anfield hoodoo. However, a result like this is inexcusable. Ferguson after the City mauling wanted to let the fans in the dressing room and I imagine Ten Hag is threatening the same. I hope he's also reflecting on what he got wrong in a game which is also, like it or not, our cup final too.

Yeah so tactically schooled we had the better chances in the first half.

I understand the want for a three man midfield as it helps control games better but we just don’t have the players and Bruno being a key player makes it harder. It’s a tough one going forward as I do wonder if a team can dominate posssesion consistently with Bruno as a second striker l

Lots of people with amnesia, apparently. Fred and Mctominay are both mediocre midfielders at best, particularly at holding their positions and shielding the back line. Everyone has complained about this for the last 2 years, but we lose a match and suddenly ETH is an idiot for not playing both of them in a midfield 3.

I doubt he specifically told those idiots to stop trying after 3-0.

Honestly, some of these players really love to play the "we feel sorry for ourselves" card. I legit hope some of them are replaced in the summer.

Hopefully this woefull wake up call is managed as effectively as the other bad defeats have been and we make changes and get back on track.

In recent weeks we have slipped into our old bad habits of going a goal or 2 down and then waking up.

It felt like some of the players were done in and had awful concentration - not an excuse but perhaps this was a game too far for a lot of them after recent weeks.

Well done to Liverpool. They were ruthless, unfortunately

I did think the players looked mentally shot throughout the game. The closing down/tenacity/urgency just wasn't there and it never came. Fred showed it the most in the first half (he was the only player I thought looked up for it) and then it just rapidly dissipated when the goals came in.

We lost the game in our heads first and then the legs followed. All teams have a bad day at some point, but this was a terrible, terrible day. Even if you lose a game, there's an acceptable way to lose. Even losing this 1 or 2 or even 3-nil is vaguely acceptable, but to keep making bad mistakes consecutively and to keep allowing them to find gaps the way they did is just not on. It is most definitely the reality check we needed.

The bit that disappoints me is the lack of fight that we showed. We were really soulless today and had no spirit. It's a huge blemish on what has been an overall positive season.
Yes. The players had mental, psychological shock in the second half. That’s what happened.

Get over it folks. We have good chances first half and they scored with the first shot on goal. The attitude after 3-0 needs stamping out. Is Rashford injured as doesn't look himself from minute one. Move on, we need to get back on track, one swallow doesn't make a season. Stop looking for scapegoats.

Has to take the captaincy off Bruno at this point. Not acceptable to give up vs Liverpool as captain no matter the context.

I hope he makes players accountable for this. Worried that a result and performance like this can seriously derail his work here. Something about this squad and giving up it's not normal. I can easily see us imploding the rest of the season.

You can't judge him on a single game. The big picture is still a great first season and he obviously deserves continued support.

That would be okay if he was a rookie or a very young manager like arteta or nagelsmann. Not a good look for a 52 year old. Saying 52 yr old and learning doesn’t even sound right. Does it?
He is far from rookie, but he is also not elite yet, years don't matter, at all.

Qatar be looking at 4 nil to Brentford, 6-3 to City and 7-0 to Liverpool and getting Zidane on the phone. Sucks but they will be changing the manager.

Hell is wrong with yous melters, are people just trolling here,

ETH is the man to take us to the next level. He has been superb this season, often when we are down his substitutions have changed the game. He has improved players immeasurably.

Its very easy to say with hindsight but i do feel his selection was naive today bordering on arrogance. I dont ever recall Bruno stuck on the left wing a position in which we are spoilt fir choice. This seemingly to accommodate WW at 10. Wout was poor today, i was very surprised Erik dudnt change things 2nd half.

I expect he will learn from today. Hes still the man.

Love Erik, but he's had a bit of a clanger today. Also what is this business with starting Antony over Sancho. Sancho needs a bit more grit true, but he's about 5x the player Antony is.

We were actually fine for about 40 minutes. Slowed the game down at the begining to silence the crowd and started creating chances. Pretty much what you do at Anfield.

Then absolutely lost our heads in the 2nd half and fully collapsed. Ten Hag also needed to close the shop earlier, but he will sort them out am sure. We reacted brilliantly from first 2 defeats and City trashing, we will do it again.

Absolutely and anyone calling for his head after today needs a slap.

However he has to give up on this Weghorst pipe dream. He isn't good enough and moving other players around to accommodate him is making us worse.

He will learn from this, he's still young, makes a lot of mistakes but he's just coached big teams since 2018.

He should be worried. Unclear how the next owners, if there are to be such, will take to this. Worst defeat for a 100 years. Just not acceptable. Now it depends how he deals with it.

Am I the only one who hates the fact that he shoehorns Bruno into the side even if it means playing him out of position?

Expected us to lose today but 7-0 is just a terrible scoreline. We'll never hear the end of this.

Today was unacceptable, but I have a lot of faith in Erik and he has earned my trust. He’ll be hurting as much as the rest of us.

Once I’ve gotten over this humiliation - it will take a while - I’ll be eager to see how Erik responds. There was always going to be a setback somewhere along the line, it’s just nobody imagined one of this magnitude. The big question now is whether we sink or swim from here on in.

Every game is massive when you’re competing for silverware, but the next few fixtures now seem humongous. To slip out of the top four and get knocked out sooner rather than later in the remaining cups would be a disaster.

Huge amount of work to do in the coming weeks. Erik, make us believe again.

He’s as poor a captain as Maguire, doesn’t have the character or mentality for it. The way he reacted today was shocking.
I’m not sure a player as sloppy and lacking in composure in heated moments as him is a good captain

It's concerning that he doesn't seem to be learning lessons.

It was a huge mistake to start Dalot against Newcastle but he managed to get away with it but he didn't learn from it and started Dalot again today.

In matches against the other big teams you have to have defenders that can defend properly especially away from home.

I think that he was awful today but calling for his head because of one defeat? While we just won a cup and are in race for two more cups? Get a grip ffs.
He was shit TODAY. He messed up a lot. But despite it is a huge loss to our rival, it is still only one league game. Which will not change anything about our final position in league.

ETH is the man. For now and a future.

1. I am still happy we won the cup.

2. I was actually more disappointed we lost to Arsenal, since that was the end of our title challenge.

The usual suspects gleefully enjoying this result so they can bizarrely take more digs at the manager. It’s not a surprise.

It's absolutely pathetic to be honest.

3nil or 7 nil doesn't really matter they still lost. The rest is just your feeling. Can't throw that on the manager for the team being shambolic, also have to say Liverpool had incredible luck with a lot of goals, think 8 shots on target and 7 goals, doesn't get as clinical as that. Shaw had possibly the worse game ever there

Be funny if we went on to win the FA Cup. Same amount of trophies the greatest side in PL history won last year.

Hell is wrong with yous melters, are people just trolling here,

Really? Boehly got rid of CL winning Tuchel for Graham Potter.

We've had 3 such results this season. I guarantee Qatari owners will be watching that and thinking they will want their own man in. Look at PSG these feckers are fickle.

He shouldn’t worry at all. Rather make it clear that this level is acceptable and nobodies place is certain. We’ll bounce back. He’s done a great job thus far.

After the carabao cup, all the praise and that "open letter to the fans", we're back etc...what a reality check. Tough few weeks ahead for him.

They will give him a chance but yeah any more of these days and unlike the Glazers they will call Ten Hag in for a meeting demanding to know what the feck happened.

Wout won't be playing in midfield next season. We will (hopefully) have a decent striker signed. Hopefully a right back also.

This sort of result will not happen again.

Can’t wait to hear what he has to say about today’s game!
He was just on Dutch TV. First half we should have scored and were overall in control but United completely lost it first 10 minutes of 2nd half because plans weren't executed and players didn't follow up on instructions. Time now to lick wounds and evaluate to come back stronger next match.

Bohley is an incompetent fool. If Qatar are too then we best steer clear of them. PSG are a different level right now and cannot be compare to us.
