It was clear that everyone wasn't just be plucking things out of thin air for no reason with all the simultaneous reports of discussions with other managers

It was only a particular set within the fanbase who wanted to bury their heads in the sand and yell out conspiracy
There was one mini fuhrer asking to ban all the journos

I do appreciate ETH coming out and publicly embarrassing Ineos and showing up what a rank bunch of amateurs they really are though.

Having your employee, who was supposedly on the brink, coming out with all of this on live tv before your reign has even started.... ghastly PR stuff.
Not a good look for anyone involved IMO

Nope. Also shows up a complete lack of common sense and professionalism for ETH to talk so candidly about it. Also, dont know whether he's joking when he said Ineos told him they already have the best manager, but if he isn't he looks as deluded as everyone else who doesn't get the fact that Tuchel turned Ineos down.
How is that a fact? We never offered him a contract and Tuchel mentioned he is taking a year off.

Because it is the new norm. Contrary to what you might think the SAF's United doesn't exist anymore. We are currently closer to Totenham than we are to the top. The only thing we have other them is money and history. And as Chelsea has proven, money without the right owners means diddly squat.

Since SAF retired we finished 7th, 4th, 5th, 6th, 2nd, 6th, 3rd, 2nd, 7th, 3rd and 8th. The idea that we were this club that competed on all fronts until ETH came and turned us into a laughing stock doesn't hold up when you compare it to our previous seasons. We finished 7th the season before he took over for God's sake.

The point is we are in the middle of a restructuring process. Our football organization is being overhauled. ETH is building something. Giving him the boot on the back of winning another trophy would be in line with a series of disastrous decision we've done since SAF retired. Thank God we didn't
It's only the new norm because we're somehow accepting it becoming the new norm. Before ETH arrived finishing outside top 4 wasn't "the norm", it was a sackable offence. We're forever in the middle of a restructuring process or a "rebuild", it's like a universal excuse at this point. ETH is for sure building "something". We never finished 7th and that season was considered our worst in modern history... until ETH came along. It took him two years but he managed to beat it for sure.

I typically do not like to blow things out of proportion, but WOW. INEOS have shot themselves in the foot by announcing ETH stays without having contract terms pre-agreed. This situation has been handled extremely poorly and is their first major mistake.

Plenty of fresh quotes for the Cafe to moan about. Good times.
Haha thought so too. They did their analysis and felt he was still a better fit than what was available. They told him in person and said we can prolong your contract under our conditions.

Further comments in the link below. Doesn't sound too happy with United and how they've dealt with it all.

ETH should be fecking happy he’s still in his job and that Ineos basically made a decision on a single result as if we’d lost the cup final as expected it would have been simple for them to fire ETH and not a single person would have argued.

It’s almost like ETH thinks he should be bulletproof because he’s won a couple of trophies and lucky to have got injuries in as an excuse for the piss poor tactics, in game management, team selections and the hidings we’ve taken off of other teams.

If they don’t agree a new contract I won’t actually be that surprised. They seem very far apart of their ideals

I don’t think he’ll be here this time next year regardless

We did offer him a contract though. Or is that the only part of the reports that was wrong?

It doesnt take any leaps to understand why, after discussing personal terms with Tuchel and RdZ, knowing Ineos are trying to shrink the manager role, that somehow they both ended up saying no.
We never offered him anything or discussed personal terms. Not sure which reports you are referring to.
We enquired and decided to continue with ETH.
There was nothing wrong in seeing other options, only issue was the way it was conducted. ETH has every right to be miffed about it and the quotes are not that scandalous that i expected it to be.

The arrogance is beyond mental to me.
The way we've played the WHOLE season suggests the "trainer" has no fcking clue what they are doing.

It's the quote of a guy who knows he lucked out with a flukey cup run after a session of mediocrity.

I half think he wanted the sack to avoid having to to be here this season as he has nothing new to offer only the same garbage as last season in the league.

I really don't understand why people find him likeable, I don't know if it is his English or something, as I don't know how he sounds in Dutch, but anytime I hear him speak he is struggling with connecting at least two sentences together which is really weird. Even those quotes, are they translated or what? They don't make too much sense.

People who don't speak English well should be hated.

Between the lines mate, between the lines. You've been outed as a King Charles lover.

I didn't mean that obviously. But some people really love him, as they repeated that here many times, which I find weird as he doesn't seem like a very likeable character. He is not unlikeabke either though, hard to feel anything to be fair.

ETH literally confirms the report that included the fact united discussed terms with tuchel and you are still in denial about it all?

You think he just met with Ratcliffe for a catch up and never discussed contract or role details?

The only reason ETH lives on in the job is Tuchel politely told Ineos to sling it.

Of course it's possible they met with Tuchel and talked about the job but didn't talk terms and offered a contract. Just like we met with other managers and didn't actually offer them a contract.

I don't know what the reports say. I haven't seen anything about a contract offer, but I might have missed it.

Is there a full summary anywhere of all he said on the subject? Sounds like alternativeMUFCcommentary
