Quite simple really.

1. If Frenkie doesn't wanna come then so be it. He's not the only good midfielder out there. #Caqueret
2. Bench Ronaldo for the good of the team and the bonus of imposing your authority over the playing group
3. Don't need Sesko if Ronaldo can't get a move which is looking likely
4. Ship who we can. Loan the kids if you can't ship all the senior pros. The squad is good enough for top 4.
5. Beef up security but most fans just want to get on with things
This squad is not good enough for top 4 and you must be living under a rock if you think that.

It’s so crazy to me that the very same people who think one manager was harshly treated by press and fans are absolutely desperate to make sure that the next manager is as harshly treated as possible.

Surely the only consistent stance you could have here would be to do your best to cut ETH as much slack as you wanted everyone else to give Ole? Because you’re doing the exact opposite.
Relax the cacks. All I did was play down the media hysteria. How am I not giving the manager slack?

1) Still involves us having to identify and sign a quality replacement, quickly.
2) Doesn't solve the Ronaldo problem at all. We'd still have a disruptive, high-profile presence in the dressing room who wants to leave, except he's now further agitated because he's also not playing.
3) Leaves our two options at CF as the aforementioned discontented disruptive presence who also isn't an easy fit into the team stylistically and Anthony Martial, a player so liable to not performing that nearly everybody expected him to leave this summer having returned from a mid-season loan in which he also didn't impress. Aside from which, ETH has already made clear that he needs an attacking signing, so if not Sesko it would have to be someone else.

Current odds have all of City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal as being more likely to finish within the top four than us. In other words you can can tell yourself the squad is good enough for top four all you like, the reality is that we're still a lot more likely to finish outside the top four than not.
I think the midfield players we have are good enough to challenge the top 4 and beat the rest.

If the team is playing well then Ronaldo can try all the disruption he wants but it won't work. He'll come back on board once the window closes and fight for his place. He's full of himself but he's not stupid.

The bookies aren't always right my friend. I think they said we'd be 3rd last year.

Most of this I agree with, disagree about Sesko. Ronaldo only has 1 year left on his contract and doesn't want to be here. If he doesn't leave now he may well leave in January after the World Cup. Get the young lad in and develop him as a bench option. Five subs this year he could well get plenty of minutes as both Ronaldo and Martial will definitely pick up injuries.
Fair enough although I do think Ronny will stay and behave once the window closes.

I dont think Ronaldo will be a problem. I just cant see us doing consistently well in a possession based style without any improvement at the base of midfield. Most important area of the pitch and if its MCFred again then I cant see us finishing top 4 unless ETH ditches everything and plays counter attacking football

By giving 5 absolutely terrible reasons why his job is actually a doddle and we’re a shoe-in for 4th place.
Thanks for the review. I never said we're a shoe in for 4th. I believe the fact that we have good players and have a very good coach means 4th is achievable. Take that as anti-Teny if you want but whilst supporting Ole, I would also have said similar things.

Yep, we're better

While I wouldn't say better, I've been running through the different squads and I think we're about even with Arsenal, Spurs and (as of right now) Chelsea. Chelsea are certain to improve mind you by the end of the month. But even then, I'm far from convinced that they'll be closer to City and Liverpool by the end of the season than to the battle for fourth.

It would be great of EtH's position if he manages to kick Ronaldo out. Hope they sell him for good

Than all of them?? Even our manager wouldn't agree, you're trying to be controversial or just wumming.

The first problem was thinking in the first instance that you could get a rational debate out of Ole zealots

Our squad is piss poor, the drop off in quality from first XI to bench is shocking. Most pundits/journos/fans recognize this and all algos/predictions have us down at 6th for the season. Clubs ahead of us have strengthened massively, reminder we finished 11 points off Arsenal and 13 points off Spurs last season.

This squad has a lot less quality than last year. Greenwood, Pogba, Matic, Lingard, Mata and Cavani have all left with only Eriksen coming in those areas. It’s pretty bonkers to me that we have people going around here telling everything is fine - there is no way this was the planned squad 2 days from a new season and I’d rank it the 5th or 6th best in England. He seems pretty relaxed but he has one hell of a job on here.

How does thinking this manager is really good and can achieve good things make me an Ole zealot? That's quite an acrobatic manoeuvre you've pulled off there.

There are more football talents out there. Than Ajax and dutch talents and players.

No he has arrive at one of the biggest club out there = He can keep the players compare to Ajax project is keep selling and rebuild the team.

Now he and United scout can chase the best talent all over the world. Not Ajax and dutch background. But with a lot of time and practise. I guess with his guidance and drilling. They can develop to play Ajax and total football too.

Like some french, italian, slovenia or german.

He is at a club. Where he can build and keep a strong and dominance team a lot longer. Than his previous job. And following with it. The expectations is higher at United than Ajax. Plus and minus with both as head coach for United and Ajax. But always better to keep your best players.

Good, well said. Some of our fans want any old signings as long as they are new. That will just make this circle keep on going. Get the right players

And the very same fans would moan about it two years later when we have players we can’t get rid of and players that don’t want to be here.

To be fair ;), This dutch market thing is so spot on, it's really the smoking gun, that they have no clue. I would have kept Rangnick, he doesn't need to talk to ETH at all, let them make a list of players that would fit, and get at least some of them. Or do something else, but this dutch thing is embarassing.

:wenger:

Getting ridiculous these sort of posts. Can only put it down to trolling.

This Dutch angle been covered. It's nonsense.

And if now new RW in this transfer window.

And without Sancho.

Honest and sorry to say. Amad Diallo and Chong are not good enough as RW squad depth players, other RW options.
Diallo i would give him more time. But Chong has disapoint me. Chong shall be more 100 determination when he get the ball. Dribbling and finishing. Look at Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen to get inspiration to see. How to be 100 % determination in everything you are doing on the pitch.

So without Sancho and RW.

Ten Hag and United shall go for 2 CF upfront and a free nr.10 behind them. Then the formation would be 4312 formation. Like this:

Eriksen - Fred - DVB + Bruno + Martial/Ronaldo - Rashford/Sesko/Garnacho

Why? 2 CF + A really good nr.10 > better than with one good LW + 1 good CF + A good RW( not really good)

Beside 433 and 4231. The 4312 formation will suit United players and squad really good too. Without wingers, but one of the CF will drift out wide when it is possible and right. Plus the offensive full back to cover the wide side. So without wingers, but it will always be players there. To deliver crosser in and beat players from the corner.

And in the end. I saw Ten Hag use 4312 formation without Antony in the last few games last season for Ajax. I think and believe without Sancho available. 4312 will be use too.

I wouldn't change Shaw, Varane, De Gea, Sancho and Eriksen for anything they've got.

I'd take Son, Kane and Romero off Spurs.
I don't want any of Arsenal's lot.
I'd take Mount, James and maybe Sterling off Chelsea but not if Rashford gets back to form.

Let me know if I've missed somebody.

Exactly. United are free clicks for them. And it is in their best interest for United to be a shit show every single day. So that they can get free clicks every single day.

And they will tell lies and manipulate the fans to get what they want. They will keep stirring all the shit all over the place until something sticks and then it's christmas again for the scumbag social/news media.

Ahh, I remember when Liverpool fans would say the same back before around 2017.

This is pretty much entirely the case. Folk on here often don’t see the wood for the trees, they’ll see the odd performance from a Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and assume they’re far superior because they’re not watching and microanalysing every game as happens with United. Last season was a perfect storm of shit and we still finished 6th! With 4/5 games left we were still in top 4 conversations! This is with players I’m always told wouldn’t stand out in the Championship.

We’re in a world where microanalysis has caused people to lose all kinds of perspective. Top 4 is definitely achievable this season (not that I’m saying Ten Hag out if we don’t) so I’m still looking forward to seeing what we can do.

Is this serious?

So you prefer McFred over Bissouma, Jorginho, Kante? Martial over Jesus? Rashford over Sterling or Saka?

You're seriously underestimating teams that were far ahead of us last season and strengthened significantly already.

McFred finished above Bissouma every year he’s been in England and Jorginho and Kante in 2 of the last 3.

Jesus finished above Martial but largely as a bench warmer

Sterling finished above Rashford fair enough, Rashford was significantly above Saka in all but 1 of Saka’s years as a first team player.

See how different it looks through a less negative lense? You’re overrating others because our wheels fell off last season.

Are you attempting to say that McFred played in a team by themselves vs Bissouma in a team by himself?
United have better players than Brighton as a whole, doesn't mean an individual player in the Brighton team isn't better than one at United

The club ***** will not listen to any reason I’m afraid.

Very well said. The way that post painted that argument was a tad bit ridiculous.

How are we possibly level with Spurs and Chelsea? I sense red tinted glasses were being worn when you were assessing each squad. I don't even think we're as good as Arsenal right now, and last season proved it. We've got worse (arguably) since then, and definitely have a much weaker squad than this time last season.

If we start well beating Brighton, Brendford and somehow Liverpool or even a draw after a good performance against them, a lot of the negative talks will disperse.

So Martial is out for the first game.

No attackers brought in, Cavani gone, Ronaldo wanting to leave.

We've certainly helped ETH out this summer.

I think people u derwstimate what cam happen when a collective work together with an effective framework.
I am not going to say we are better than Arsenal or Chelsea but last season, people didn't think there was much in it and look how that turned out.
What I am saying is that this side massively underperformed and downed tools last season. Concluding that we won't get top four because Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea have had better windows is premature

What kid of rhetoric is that  that's just ridiculous, so you would also prefer McFred over Jorginho, Kante midfield because we finished above them a year ago?

Not really, because the main issue which is lack of depth will only become apparent couple of months into the season, not in the beginning when we play one game a week.

Yeah but at least the doom talks will slow down. Talks and narrative are often reactionary and knee jerk like. Get a couple of results and the black cloud will dissipate a bit.

Yes we are fine up front. Like i said we also have academy talent coming in as well.

The key thing for ETH is to be tactically versatile. Even if we get all the top players, you cannot guarantee that all will adapt immediately and injuries can happen. So he will still need to identify different type of formations that brings out the best of the squad. This will determine his success in the long run. From what i have observed from the squad and ETH's tactical approach, we are in for a good season (unless your aim is to win the EPL immediately).

No strikers available for the opening game of the season. Apart from a 37 year old who wants to leave and has no pre season. Still think we‘re fine up front?
