I can't believe some fans are turning on him already because the people above him are inept at their jobs and are botching the window. He's not here to run the club, he's here to be the head coach. It's Murtough and Arnold's responsibility to sort out our dysfunctional recruitment strategy and get him the players he needs.

Totally agree - just pointing it out - the last manager we had who was rightwing was Fergie. So its been a while and some fans will struggle to get used to it again.
His first victim looks like Ronnie! That alone will have some fans slitting their wrists!
Alex Ferguson, a proud socialist from a working class family and community, was right wing? I don't think you know what that phrase even means.

Read up on Fergie, jesus christ.

Nah he's doing just fine. The board would be fools not to back him. Otherwise we'd be in free fall. We need a disciplinarian. The shit culture cannot continue.

Fans need to back him, even though some shit results. It's very important.

Plus after the shit performances from last season, most fans have no more patience for the players.

In any case, I'm sure ETH has dealt with the situation and is moving on - as should the players themselves.

Correct

Is ETH a bit right wing for UTD? I know he's a hard taskmaster etc but UTD are a far bigger club that Ajax. Potential boardroom battle coming up maybe..........
I hope not by the way - but backing this guy 100% may mean a lot of fans favourites leaving the club.
I’m a fan and can’t think of any player we have that I’d be overly upset if they were to leave.

Good part about transfers, signing players that are the right players and not signing players for the sake of it. Got to be patient and the part about FDJ someone from behind the camera answered for him before he answered himself, which was interesting.

Good, well said. Some of our fans want any old signings as long as they are new. That will just make this circle keep on going. Get the right players

I want one of those lineups you look back on in 10 years and think "What a squad" like when you see 08/09: VDS, Neville/Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo.

Not just average option Cs, and I hope fans start to see that.

I can't wait for the weekend. Buzzing to the league to begin.

Reality is, Ten Hag has approx 6 transfers or 2 windows before pressure mounts on his job. Wasting a window chasing De Jong was his risk to make. He'll take the fall in 2024 if he gambled incorrectly.

how? Like Moyes if he has a terrible first 3 months..has to ditch his style for what our current players are better at (also happened before) the blame all goes on him, the worse the results the more he’s questioned as never been good enough in the first place. Those above him survive time and time again so it’s all on the manager. Hence every pleb from Merson to Sounness is saying it’s the biggest risk of his career, not because he’s only got to worry about himself, but mainly because he’s trying to succeed where all others have failed, largely because the main transfer targets were not delivered to the then manager…starting way back as far as the Cesc saga, mou certainly had the rug pulled, last season we certainly could have brought in a striker around Jan…it’s endless

PL hasn't even started yet and some of the fans are already criticizing the manager. Unbelievable.

What the hell is this?

Fair enough

I am not attached to a single player at this club right now, we could sell every single first team player and I wouldn't be upset.

Let the EtH purge happen.

By right wing I mean - ruling with an Iron fist. Total control over all aspects of the organisation.

Think you mean authoritarian. And yes, it's exactly the kind of manager we need.

As yes, the famous Labour supporting, anti-sectarian, liberal, rightwing Sir Alex "I believe the Tories have always been about looking after their own rich types and always will be" Ferguson.

Edit: ah you've already clarified what you meant. I'll put my pitchfork away.

I can appreciate this to be fair. But also part of attracting the right players is to be competing in the Champions League, and that is going to be very difficult to achieve with the current squad. I trust Ten Hag to rebuild but I do think some shorter term upgrades should also be considered in the transfer market.

I’m not talking anou

yes and yes - that’s exactly what I meant.
glad that’s cleared up! Phew caf nearly went nuclear then.
Don't worry

When you said right wing it gives it a political angle... and being right wing doesn't necessarily mean you will be authoritarian. It's political belief versus a certain personality trait. The latter is what you were referring to.

This is one thing I think ten Hag deserves credit for. We haven't signed enough players yet but you can see the rationale behind all of the ones we have signed so far. That hasn't always been the case.

His top target also makes a lot of sense and the main reason he hasn't signed is due to factors outside of his control. It'd look a lot rosier if he didn't have to contend with two unfortunate scenarios surrounding de Jong and Ronaldo.

But that's the problem. We've had short fixes before and ended up with nothing.

Fans just have to accept that it will take time to get back on track. There's nothing we can do about that. Just support the manager because he will need us to be sensible and not react to every bad result. Otherwise we're going around in circles and never getting anywhere.

And judging from our track record under LVG, probably doesn't trust the scouts to come up with shoddy alternatives.

Thats fair. I don't like the alternatives that popped up thus far either.

Not usually. United are just in total flux where everybody in recruitment essentially is either new or recently promoted in Murtough’s case, so still new to this area. The recruitment team that oversaw so many failures got the boot/restructered in April so it’s still pretty chaotic, hence for this summer Erik has more autonomy than would ideally be the case.

Makes sense, thanks for clearing it up.

Is that really how it works in England? I know the manager has massive power but for nobody to step in and say "you know what? We have more cdms on the list, we should pursue them as well" is absolutely bonkers!

At Ajax it was Overmars who eventually called the shots so I was assuming Murtough had a bigger role, or better said, a better understanding of recruitment and a bigger voice.

Maybe the recruitment guys also know more than yourself and dannyrhinos?
Maybe they are well aware that this will be done as soon as the wage issue is resolved? In that case, why move on? Because redcafe is shitting it’s collective pants?

Not allowed to watch the video because of country restrictions. What does it say roughly?
