EtH saying it always rains in Manchester and that he's always dreamed of managing Real Madrid.

How mature.

We as fans and as a club simply must stand by Ten Hag even if this season is a bit sh*t and we finish 8th or so. Give him at least 2 years barring any relegation type form over a period of months.

As fun as it is to laugh at Arsenal, they brought in a manager that shared their vision and backed him with support when things weren't looking so good. Now they are in a much better position than they were. If Arteta doesn't produce trophies they can bring in a new, better manager who shares that vision and can instantly compete without requiring a massive rebuild.

There has been pretty much no consistency in the style of play United is building toward since Sir Alex and it has to start sometime.

So before his first game of the season he will have to take endless questions on Ronaldo sulking and wanting to leave, Henderson slagging off the club and the FDJ fiasco.

Welcome to the circus ETH. I wish him the best for Brighton.

I have a Q for the Dutch here.

How big and prestigious a club is Manchester United seen in the Netherlands?

Very prestigious? Top 3 all time? Top 5?

I feel there's a greater appreciation of the club in the Netherlands and Scandinavia than elsewhere and just wondered on that and Ten Hag's preconceptions of the club.

Thanks.

It's rubbish really. Ideally we'd have a signing or two but most importantly a positive vibe going into the first few games. Instead Ronaldo has made the narrative all about him and the will he/ won't he nonsense.

Why not focus on an exciting time with Eriksen and Martinez and the long term potential we have rather than short term stuff like Ronaldo and DeJong.

You can choose what to focus on

The fans can focus on that, but the anti Utd media will focus on the story's that will create a headline. So they will focus on negative stuff and there is a lot of negatives around utd. It's in the media's interest to have utd struggle as they've got headlines each week.

Neville and Carragher spot on regarding ten hag and ronaldo.

Yeah but feck the media. Don't read it.

United are perceived as the biggest club in England hence all the publicity even when we’re not challenging for prizes.

Man I feckin love this guy and the way he speaks..

I used to be a vocal supporter of Ole as a patriotic supporter but he was always very user friendly and avoiding managerial friction with players which eventually cost him..

But ETH is basically our biggest signing of the season and I mean sure we’re not even close to having a successful transfer window but it only stresses the need to really see his forte which is coaching and how far that’ll go in improving this team just at the basics..

I used to think Ronaldo might be safe from his strictness but even he’s not safe.. can’t wait to see the impact this coach has on our squad atleast till the World Cup and then start judging him from there onwards..

It would be one thing to inherit a mid table squad and then drastically turn it around but if he’s true to his word and this is the United that finished 2nd two seasons ago then he should have certain impacts coaching wise and bring us back to top 4 if nothing else

Ain't an easy job we've handed ETH.

Quite simple really.

1. If Frenkie doesn't wanna come then so be it. He's not the only good midfielder out there. #Caqueret
2. Bench Ronaldo for the good of the team and the bonus of imposing your authority over the playing group
3. Don't need Sesko if Ronaldo can't get a move which is looking likely
4. Ship who we can. Loan the kids if you can't ship all the senior pros. The squad is good enough for top 4.
5. Beef up security but most fans just want to get on with things

By all accounts that is mostly down to himself.

Have you seen the squads of Arsenal Chelsea and Tottenham?

Most of this I agree with, disagree about Sesko. Ronaldo only has 1 year left on his contract and doesn't want to be here. If he doesn't leave now he may well leave in January after the World Cup. Get the young lad in and develop him as a bench option. Five subs this year he could well get plenty of minutes as both Ronaldo and Martial will definitely pick up injuries.

1) Still involves us having to identify and sign a quality replacement, quickly.
2) Doesn't solve the Ronaldo problem at all. We'd still have a disruptive, high-profile presence in the dressing room who wants to leave, except he's now further agitated because he's also not playing.
3) Leaves our two options at CF as the aforementioned discontented disruptive presence who also isn't an easy fit into the team stylistically and Anthony Martial, a player so liable to not performing that nearly everybody expected him to leave this summer having returned from a mid-season loan in which he also didn't impress. Aside from which, ETH has already made clear that he needs an attacking signing, so if not Sesko it would have to be someone else.

Current odds have all of City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal as being more likely to finish within the top four than us. In other words you can can tell yourself the squad is good enough for top four all you like, the reality is that we're still a lot more likely to finish outside the top four than not.

It’s so crazy to me that the very same people who think one manager was harshly treated by press and fans are absolutely desperate to make sure that the next manager is as harshly treated as possible.

Surely the only consistent stance you could have here would be to do your best to cut ETH as much slack as you wanted everyone else to give Ole? Because you’re doing the exact opposite.

it really isnt. I hope supporters show patience. We really could be looking at not a great season

Maybe we should assume it will be similar to Klopps first season at Liverpool. That also wasnt smooth sailing but as long as we see signs of improvment

The fact that we're most likely going to start with the exact same team as last season tells you all you need to know about our terrible transfer window.

To be fair ;), This dutch market thing is so spot on, it's really the smoking gun, that they have no clue. I would have kept Rangnick, he doesn't need to talk to ETH at all, let them make a list of players that would fit, and get at least some of them. Or do something else, but this dutch thing is embarassing.

The club and the fans need to 100% back the manager, there will be some very rocky moments during the season and mountains of negative media stories, we need to endure (again).

The 2 month pursuit of a player who at the end of the day might turn out to be another Di Maria, yes I think ETH has no one to blame for the FDJ fiasco if the various reports are right.

The only “blame” ETH should have is identifying him as a target. And none of us have any idea if he’s a good or bad target until we see him play for United. I suspect he’d be very good for us.

By all accounts, he has said that we should do everything to get Frenkie and still try no matter what, so I definitely agree that he should be partly blamed if the deal won't go through. It's Erik who wants Frenkie, not Murtough, Arnold or Glazers.

Just mentioned it in another thread but a season like Arsenal's last year would be a positive at this point.

They "only" finished two points outside the top four with their fifth place finish, which in our case would be an overperformance on what current odds suggest is expected of us. Add in the development of a clear style of play and that's an improvement for us. Maybe even some cup success if we're lucky

If we wanted to any have higher ambitions than that, we needed to do the commensurate work in the transfer market. And we haven't.

Not only identifying, many reports were placed about his insistence to wait, that ETH "was assured" and in contact that FDJ wants to come, and on top that it's either him or no one we want. If those reports are true the fiasco is of his own making. And that's without even coming to a potential Di Maria scenario. There are so many rumors about him wanting to stay, that even if he comes I suspect that we will never see the fully focused FDJ that would warrant this whole chaos.

It absolutely would be although trajectory matters. If we finish the season with the same sort of collapse we saw at Arsenal that would be a bit grim. If we have a better second half of the season than the first, a fifth place finish with an obvious fresh approach to how we play would be absolutely fine. Even more so if we go deep in some cup competitions.

Exactly. United are free clicks for them. And it is in their best interest for United to be a shit show every single day. So that they can get free clicks every single day.

And they will tell lies and manipulate the fans to get what they want. They will keep stirring all the shit all over the place until something sticks and then it's christmas again for the scumbag social/news media.
