What is my opinion? That we’re playing like a bottom-half team? You will not find a single stat that suggests otherwise.
We had posts the other day saying if we were not so unlucky and referees were more fair to us we would currently be up there with Arsenal, City and Liverpool.

Suppose we’ll need one to take over training as well as that seems to be a bit of a problem area.
We should have coaches to take care of training, a manager should not even be involved in that.

Your opinion is that keeping him undermines that culture.

(yes some were only managing for a few months)

In the end none of these managers could get the team performing well over any significant period. I'm not saying ETH is the answer. But unless we gut the team, i don't think the next manager will get a tune of them either.

How could it not? You’re saying it will help to instill a culture of good enough or gone, yet advocating for keeping a manager who has failed on every single metric this season?

In your opinion. Again I don’t believe it’s shared by INEOS. We will see soon enough.

So … you do not think he has failed this season? I mean, it’s cool that you want him stay, I can’t for the life of me understand why but that’s up to you, but surely even you would be hard pressed to name one single positive thing he’s done this season?

Sorry, I did just repeat what he said to be honest and added my own to it. I didn’t need to write see what he wrote, was just pointing out I agreed with him.

I’ve no idea who the new manager can or will be. I just think our football hasn’t been upto standard for over a year with ten hag.

As I thought then, no answer, just anyone so long as it's not Ten Hag.

 No, but it’s not my job to choose a manager. I don’t know what the men in charge are thinking or their vision. But almost anyone other than ten hag if this is the way he wants us playing yes

Ten Hag gave me hope last season that we finally had THE manager since Ferguson who could make us contenders once again. The way he handled the Ronaldo saga was admirable. What he said in interviews about changing our culture and all that was also admirable. The football on the pitch wasn't always the best but there was a definite improvement from the garbage of the previous season.

Cut to 2023/24 and we've gone backwards. The football on the pitch is garbage. We are actually lucky to be 6th that's how bad it's been. He no longer says the right things either. What changed? Why the talk of transition? Why the high press and low block? All season he has been criticised for this but there is no change

Even when we were getting poor results early this season, I was backing him to turn it around but truthfully things are no better. I agree that some big players (Rashford, Bruno etc) should go but Ten Hag also bears some responsibility for the football being played and should also be replaced.

We need to hire a best-in-class referee relations specialist as well.

If he is kept on as manager, I think he should only have until December to show he belongs. If we are still Moments FC by then with players sold and new signings, then he needs to be sacked immediately.

Not often you get a decent caller on a TalkSport show, but this guy came with the facts....

man this guy was talking that talk! All facts. I might download this video, extract the audio and add the Ether beat to it so I can listen to it while I'm working out.

In full context? I’m bitterly disappointed by this season. At the start of the season in an average season I’d consider this failure. I don’t think we have experienced an average season in terms of set backs. The data suggests this is an absolutely torrid season for injuries and rotations in our defence and central midfield relative to the other top 6 sides.

I refuse to believe you hand on heart can’t think of one positive thing?

That is your opinion. I don’t believe it is shared currently by those in power. INEOS will make that decision and I trust them to do what’s best for the football club.

It's funny because it's not really even an "opinion", every underlying metric suggests that we have played like a bottom half side and are incredibly lucky to even be 6th at the moment.

"I'm not trying to be a dick" but, "That's not really an answer", "I asked a question and you couldn't answer it".

And yet here we are in 6th. I’m not happy with it anymore than you are.

Jeez man, I’m sorry I’ve really put a bee in your bonnet haven’t I.
You asked me to suggest someone. If that’s your way of asking a question and you want a definite name I’ll say nagglesman

I don’t think we are going to finish 6th playing this way next season (and may even drop below this year as well, we have some tough games coming). There’s only so far luck can take you.

Also, painting 6th place as some success… I don’t buy it. We are basically in the same pack with struggling Newcastle and Chelsea both having bad seasons, Brighton that just lost their best players, Wolves, Bournemouth and Fulham who were supposed to be in relegation fight and, all of whom are much closer to us than we are to top 4.

I think with or without Ten Hag we’ll finish top 4 next season (barring another freak season).

I don’t consider it success. I consider it understandable in the context. People seem to struggle accepting that I think it’s utterly shit where we are but that I can see why we are lower than we’d all hope without it being an smoking gun Moyes style “this isnt ever going to work”.

The thing that perplexed me the most was when he came out and said he couldn't play like Ajax because we don't have the players for it. So fecking what! Shouldn't a manager who has a system, stick to it? Implement it no matter who is in the club i.e. Spurs? I mean surely even ETH has a good idea who is going to stay and what players will be shipped off. I'd rather give up goals and lose with a high back line than leaving Case/Mainoo out to dry in the midfield trying to cover all that space.

I think it’s far worse than Moyes season, at least we were good in CL back then and had a handful of league games in which we looked convincing and won deservedly. It’s the worst season we’ve had since Fergie left.

Not at all, just if you post like you do, then take it as you give it.

Nagglesman you say? Well it seems to be the go to name for the Ten Hag but anyone posters, for reason they'll probably struggle to explain (lets not go there), so fair enough..

It’s funny how we all know this but as soon as the cycle starts up people just revert to thinking the issue is the coach. The easiest and quickest change is the manager but, as your list proves, it really makes no difference because there is so very obviously something, probably multiple things, not right behind the scenes.

I asked a question mate. One that a few other posters had no problem answering. I’m sorry. I’ll be sure not to ask you again. No hard feelings

Do any other clubs fans excuse terrible results with "but structure"?

No it’s an absolutely ludicrous stance.

How does the structure affect the tactical setup and game management?

So many in here are utterly delusional.

I’ve seen it with every manager post Fergie. Posters on here coming up with every excuse imaginable to absolve an underachieving manager of blame. It’s lunacy!

All we can say about Ole is at least he understood how to set up a team to not concede 30 shots per game. Even against good teams.

What's that got to do with anything. Ole is long gone and rightly so. If he thinks he did not get the recognition he deserved, bless him. But why are you posting this here?
Ole is a dreadful manager. If he wasn't an ex player he wouldn't have gotten the job in a million years. The fact that people still try to convince themselves he did a good job is beyond funny.

He's really been in demand since.

Newcsl and Chelsea have been shit this year. Otherwise wed' be in 8th i reckon.

I am very much each to their own, agree to disagree and respect, but man I cannot understand the pro ETH sentiment that pervades, ok I get the "we don't want to keep sacking managers" argument, but that is no excuse to keep a manager who is clearly failing and doing so spectacularly this season.

I just do not understand what it will take for the pro ETH brigade to change tack, just how bad does it have to get, I swear we could get relegated and they would still stick by him as the best manager to get us promoted

The only time post SAF I can recall us being anywhere ear as poor as the team is this season was the dying throws of Moyes tenure.

Which ultimately have feck all to do with the ludicrous set up EtH chooses week in week out, his overtraining of players, his inability to get the best out of a single player in our squad or his inability to set us up defensively stable.

I don't know why, we both want United to be great again, we just differed in opinion, and approach to how we post on this occasion, but that's all.

We're already actively in the process of recruiting and hiring people who will be making up the long awaited new club 'structure' moving forward.

I think the decision on a manager should come from those who will be working above and with him day to day.

Given the way that the season has developed and the inevitable sour note that it will likely end on, I tend to believe that they'll opt for a clean slate with someone new at the helm come the end of the season.

Most of, if not all, of the new recruitment and technical team should be in place by then or in the process of starting soon.
