The clubs a mess but he hasnt helped himself. The decisions he is making arent nothing to do with the club, and the signings will ultimately be his downfall....

There’s a massive list of managers that have made finals and done absolutely nothing after that.
I fear that if Di Matteo had pulled off the miracle he did at Chelsea here, he'd have a lifetime contract. Or at least a lifetimes worth of faith from the fans. Chelsea realised he wasn't up to the job, got rid and continued winning trophies. What has Di Matteo done since?

And Di Matteo was evidently changing Chelsea's style on the pitch the following season, too. They were becoming a bit like Wenger's Arsenal by stockpiling AMs, resulting in some good stuff being played by the trio of Hazard-Oscar-Mata, but that's not enough for a club intent on winning.

Only Ten Hag fans will think top 4 and League cup are supposed to be impressive achievements. Man United fans won't though
Only an idiot thinks that top 3, two finals and a cup whilst being statistically the best manager in his first 50 games in United history is "not remotely impressive".

He might have turned wank now, who knows. But only an idiot would think the above.

Im not directly calling you an idiot by the way. You can infer what you like.

If what Ole said is true, and we're only allowed 3 1st teamers a season, he's got his hand tied a bit, as there were more than 3 areas that needed adressing. Though if he's getting his 1st choice transfers in, can't knock off the fact that Antony has been a costly mistake and Mount is looking like one too.

It certainly seems like it's true, and possibly since LvG's mad summer where he replaced half the squad.

16/17 - Pogba, Bailly and Mkhitariyan. Zlatan on a free.

17/18 - Lukaku, Lindelof and Matic. Zlatan comes back on a free. Swap Mkhitariyan for Sanchez in January.

18/19 - Dalot, Fred and Grant.

19/20 - Maguire, Wan-Bissaka and James. Stretched it slightly with Bruno in January. Also loaned in Igahlo.

20/21 - van de Beek and Telles (also Pellistri but that wasn't a first team signing at the time). Cavani on a free. Diallo in January but IIRC he didn't join until the end of the season and again, not a first team signing at the time.

21/22 - Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo. Heaton on a free.

22/23 - Antony, Martinez and Malacia. Eriksen on a free. Dubravka on loan in the summer. Wout, Butland and Sabitzer on loan in January.

23/24 - Mount, Onana and Hojlund. Technically Bayandir but he's the backup GK. Reguilon and Amrabat on loan.

There's a clear limit on first team signings.

What annoys me is that many of the so-called pundits were baying for Ole's head because we were seen as a badly coached team, and Ten Hag was seen as the football brain who would finally give us a method and style that the Norwegian United legend could not. We are worse now than we were in the latter days of Ole. Yet Ten Hag will keep his job.

I don't know if he will keep his job. You've got to start wondering what the point is at some stage. If the job is bigger than him, like it's looking, might as well put him out his misery. There's a international break coming.

We all know the problems run deeper. A new manager gets interviewed by our clueless owners and board who believe we have a top squad because they look at the payroll. The new manager thinks he can get something out of them and once he realizes the truth the panic buys start again making our squad even more unbalanced and overpaid.

Ten Hag seems lost between having a certain style in mind (for which he wanted players like Mount, Hojlund, Antony, Onana, Martinez, de Jong) which presupposes a whole 11 trilled and being able to play it and going back to some kind of „safe bet“ with players who are not good enough for the top.

He should be more ruthless and clearly state that Maguire, Evans, Lindelöf, McTominay in 2023 is never going to be good enough given the level other clubs are at and while Rashford, Bruno, Casemiro, Eriksen etc. might be good players they will never be the right players for what he wants to achieve.

I really want to like him but he’s making it difficult now. I can‘t defend the results we‘ve been getting but it’s not like we’re playing sparkling football either and I was someone who wanted him over Pochettino.

I don’t know who we go for either and with the nature of the ownership (something that definitely does not help him and I sympathise him for), who the feck knows what’s going to happen next.

Can anyone even remember why the Caf decided that Poch was a shite manager? There was a period of months where it somehow became established logic that anyone who thought Poch was a good coach had an IQ <50.

Because of his stint at PSG, basically

I dont think, I know. The pressing and running stats are far better than when the players were actually losing faith under Ole and Jose.

So yeah, you can exagerrate and make shit up but it's not going to fly.
You think I'm making stuff up? You're watching the same games and acting like everything is absolutely fine and we'll come good any day now, we're just missing a couple of players is all. It's been months. The only thing not going to fly is this 'do nothing and wait' approach that you seem to think is the right approach. You can keep coming in here after every loss, pretending your a voice of reason, but you're going to be very, very busy defending a man who doesn't deserve it.

We’re crud. Badly set up. No overarching strategy. Hoping for a moment in every game - needed a set piece and a last minute penalty save even against FC Copenhagen at Old Trafford.

We’re an easy game for any half decent, well coached PL side this season. Wonder how much of this dross we’ll have to sit through before he gets binned. Wonder how much money we’ll lose on Sancho and Mount

Man just follow my posts. I'm not talking about how good we are now. fecksake it's like going around in circles.

All I'm saying is hes clearly not a toddler if he's capable of achieving some very impressive things last season. Saying he's lost the players is also just dim, they're running and working for him. Losing the players is what the squad did to Ole and Jose before they were sacked. Literally not give a feck and be thumped 4-0 by relegated teams.

Ten hag is pretty shite right now. I agree. He was also pretty good last season. And his overall win % as a United manager is not remotely as bad as what you want to claim. So let's not make shit up, shall we? Give that a go and see how you do.
His win rate is misleading. We seldom draw a game. I guess you know we lost 5 out of 10 this season. Extrapolating it linearly, we are going to lose 19 games in the league this season. Are you ok with it?

Put any manager into a broken club and you will have a manager trying to work at a broken club.

When new managers come in, it's usually because of the last guy being sacked. It's the same in any situation.

Yes, we're in a mess, but so are so many other clubs. There are clubs that are in much, much worse positions than us that can play better football than us. You can make a strong argument that every single team we have faced this season plays better football than us.

At it's core, we are trying to get a bunch of men to successfully navigate the ball into the net. Football is about scoring goals. We don't score goals. We don't pass the ball well enough. We stand still. Our players are unfit. Our players have shocking injury records. Our players are cnuts on and off the pitch. Our players can't press as a team. Our players can't attack a unit or make overlapping runs or late runs into the box. Our players don't support each other. Our players don't fight for each other or the fans. Every single one of those things can be coached and taught. All of them. This is professional fecking football we're talking about - not a bunch of guys playing in a park.

Ive watched all our games and the running and pressing stats for the season are there for you to see.

Compare them to when managers actually lost the players and then come back and argue you're not making shit up.

I want him sacked purely for making Jamie sound logical and making me agree with him

Of course Im not. But I'm not going to get angry by crazy hypotheticals. If that happens, sack him. But it probably won't.

What the hell are you on about? I’ve seen nothing to suggest that’s true.
He signed a bunch of players from Holland for a start, then when he first arrived he thought he could just play 2 AM's and we'd pin teams in their own box. He had a massive wake up call early days.

ETH has spent £407m on players since he’s been here, only that nutter at Chelsea has spent more. Nobody has really worked out in terms of adding consistent high value to the team.

In addition to this he’s not improved any current player and either ostracised or sent the rest backwards. We all know the club is a mess, but he’s added to it in a BIG way, he has to go, he’s just not got the calibre, end of . . .

Didn’t he say eras come to an end when he came into the job, referring to Guardiola and Klopp? Maybe his plan is too advanced for little ol' me to comprehend, but how does losing 0:3 to the former and 7:0 to the latter fit into that? Can someone explain? And while we are at it, how do Antony and Mount fit into it?

Comfortably beaten once again by City at Old Trafford.

Couldn't watch the game because of work but then again I wasn't going to watch it anyway, but judging from the comments on here about Ten Hag he caused his own problems once again. Can't see him lasting the season but I'm all for sacking him because the football is dire to watch and nothing is changing.

I don't have a problem with signing Hojland. I do have a problem with ETH not laying down the law about how to use Hojland. Get the feckers in extra traing practising how to find him. Practise crossing, practise inside runs. Make it so the FBs and wingers know they are supposed to be trying to find him ffs.

In the first half today there were a couple of great chances to roll him in.

Hojlund is a 20 year old kid. If you have a serious scoring problem you don't bring a 20 year old kid to solve it. It is elementary.

Hojlund might be a great scorer someday (or he might be not) but ETH will be sacked long before that.

If you know the stats then look at how many games we've come from behind to win, how many games we've scored 3 or more goals and how many times we've lost by 4 or more goals.

He’s brought in 14 players (including loans) and spent 400m in 12 months and we look awful. I can take the loses but there’s no game plan, no style of play there’s nothing to be positive about. Every win is a fecking grind and this goes back to last season it’s nothing new.

I’m not even having this ‘well he finished third!’ Tripe either. The league doesn’t lie but it was a 1 in a million season when Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs are mid table all season. They step up to a higher standard and they look miles ahead of us.

At least he's basically admitted that his change backfired.
I don't think he did. His normally garbled rumblings were contradictory.

He did admit that they lost some midfield stability from the change. But said it was a players' mistake for the second goal. "It started with us making a wrong decision, not any more shape, and they were unplayable."

Asked if in hindsight if he regretted the half time subs. He said he could not say that he regretted the substitutions because "we had to create, because we are losing the game". He added, "we had Mason Mount on the bench so you can expect creativity". Really? When has he ever seen that in a United shirt or indeed in a Chelsea shirt last season.

He said: "The game plan was good... and then your losing and you have to act as a manager. You have to use your bench and bring more offensive power on the pitch." So we take the main goal threat McTominay from the first half and put him back into a CDM role?

Asked about the poor start to the season. Ten games in and having lost half of them, why has it been a difficult start to this campaign. "Last year we were in the same situation..." Really? Honestly. He is devoid of reality.

Do you feel closer to Manchester City than when you began the job? No answer.

Can anyone even remember why the Caf decided that Poch was a shite manager? There was a period of months where it somehow became established logic that anyone who thought Poch was a good coach had an IQ <50.
I wanted Poch, I had never even heard of Eth but 95% of United fans seemed to be convinced he 'was the guy'. And the majority of our fan base turned up their noses at Poch purely because 'he's not won anything'

He will do well to last this season, if he keeps things the way they are.

He needs to show some humility, and admit that his approach isn't working. He doesn't know his best team, or how he wants the team to play. He doesn't trust any of his players and they do not trust him.

City were strong today, but did not need to be great. It's almost as if ETH doesn't really appreciate what is going on. He's lost, deluded.

I would use this season to get some youngsters in and change the energy at the club. And secondly, I would make sure, make sure, he gets rid of a lot of players, because they are changing the nature of the club. Sack the poor players, Pay them off if neccesary but get them out of the club.

That doesn't mean he's lost the players
You know you've lost the players when they literally stop bothering to run and play. Not when they still hunt for wins, win 3 on the bounce despite lacking confidence and then lose comprehensively today.

They didnt. People respond to the one WUM who posts in that thread.
Nah, I distinctly remember an awful lot of posters reacting to the idea of appointing Poch like it was some kind of comedy suggestion. I can't be only one who remembers that, can't be bothered to evidence it.

He won't last the season. That forward line cost a hell of a lot of money and they're not scoring goals, that looks absolutely terrible on any coach.
