The midfield just seems to have no link up play.

Balls played late or not at all. Sitting on the ball letting the defense get back in shape.

I'm really not sure what to make of him. On the one hand, I see that he makes terrible subs, baffling signings at times, and doesn't seem able to implement tactics or a style, or to improve any players.

On the other hand I don't think any manager would be doing great with this club structure, and I am almost certain that once he goes somewhere else he's going to look amazing while we're in the exact same situation we're in now.

Put any manager into a broken club and you will have a manager trying to work at a broken club.

No idea what he's trying to do.

He also has no idea what he's trying to do.

The midfield change made no sense when everyone and their mum knows that a McTominay-Eriksen midfield doesn't work against even league two opposition, let alone City.

Refusal to drop Bruno or Rashford is maddening.

Bringing off Hojlund instead of anyone else also maddening.

Fed up with him.

Has the poorly coached team thread been bumped yet? Cos we're looking shocking at the moment. We seem to have completely forgotten how to play football. Not sure what's happening but our coach isn't looking good at the moment. He's looking very very bad actually. We've seen other teams play Citeh. And we've seen us play 10 games this season. We look comically shite.

Guy reaches two finals, wins one and gets to 3rd place 8 points clear of top 4 in a season where we weren't expected to do jack shit. And you want me to spell out why he earned good will.

Nah you're alright kid.

Great achievement. Ten Hag fans have no issue shitting all over the team's standards to defend their savior.

I mean our biggest threat going forward was McTominay. And Ten Hag decides to play him as a CDM. Playing Mount who is proven ineffective was madness.

If what Ole said is true, and we're only allowed 3 1st teamers a season, he's got his hand tied a bit, as there were more than 3 areas that needed adressing. Though if he's getting his 1st choice transfers in, can't knock off the fact that Antony has been a costly mistake and Mount is looking like one too.
Well it doesn’t help that the first teamers he signs are usually horrible or not a good fit at all, but that is through no fault of his of course.

I'm not defending him for this season. Again, read posts better or don't quote.

Ever since SAF retired the only consistent thing we had is inconsistency. I used to joke with my friends that we look like we train with a rugby ball on a tennis pitch and show up for a football game on the week-end, I'm not sure it's a joke anymore.

I don't know if sacking EtH is the solution because we've done that, I don't know if recruitment is the solution because again, we've done that. As much as I hate it, maybe there's some truth in what Ronaldo said in the club being stuck in the 2010s. I'm at a point where I'm apathetic to any club decision because I feel like I've this movie 100x before…

Have been saying this for months. We have been garbage since the cup win but everyone just blamed this season's injuries.

Can bet that nothing will change when everyone's fit.

Remember all that talk about the goals suddenly coming when Hojlund is fit. Or when Varane is back. The two we're missing are Martinez and Shaw. Maybe AWB. You still have a find a way through and can't let that derail the season.

What is disappointing is that all of Hojlund, Rashford, Bruno, Eriksen, Mount, Antony, Garnacho, Martial and McTominay all played today and we still didn't put the ball in the back of the net.

Great achievement. Ten Hag fans have no issue shitting all over the team's standards to defend their savior.
The League Cup things does me in. Imagine considering League Cup win after beating one good team in the entire competition such a huge achievement that you are inclined to give your manager almost unlimited trust.

What annoys me is that many of the so-called pundits were baying for Ole's head because we were seen as a badly coached team, and Ten Hag was seen as the football brain who would finally give us a method and style that the Norwegian United legend could not. We are worse now than we were in the latter days of Ole. Yet Ten Hag will keep his job.

I stopped trusting him in the middle of his first window.

I knew if we were to give him control of our transfers this season it'd most likely be his last season here. Looking likely.

I don't want the next manager to have that responsibility either. That's why replacing ten Hag comes second to sorting out our recruitment department. We need to bring in someone who knows the importance of bringing in players who excel in their general play so that we have some stability regardless of who's managing us.

What about that Ralf Rangnick guy? I heard he's pretty good at that.

You have defended him all season.
I did, but I'm not defending him for this season in the post he quoted. And I'm not defending him for today. And I have said in many posts that he needs to take ownership of some bad mistakes in certain games.

Im just not gong to say sack him, because I believe he earned goodwill to turn it around.

Cara going in big. He’s basically said he’s fecking shite

No style of play, poor recruitment. He doesn’t understand what we do on the training pitch

Keano saying Bruno needs the captaincy taken off him

Only 11 goals scored. Last June, everyone knew that we have a problem scoring goals and ETH spent 70m on Hojlund and 55m on Mount. Doesn't make sense.

I don't have a problem with signing Hojland. I do have a problem with ETH not laying down the law about how to use Hojland. Get the feckers in extra traing practising how to find him. Practise crossing, practise inside runs. Make it so the FBs and wingers know they are supposed to be trying to find him ffs.

In the first half today there were a couple of great chances to roll him in.

Pretty sure that's normal for most teams? Just look at Pep or Klopp's first seasons. Doesn't help that he's got all his big signings wrong. Casemiro is like an anchor, in the literal sense, while other teams around us sign young high energy players. He needs to be released to Saudi Arabia.

As it stands do you reckon he will use the goodwill and actually turn things around? I think he ain’t going to be sacked soon because we can get scrappy results against poor teams. I just can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel with him though.

The players arent doing what he wants them to do - ill give him that. But its up to him to motivate them to do what he wants them to do and he is failing badly. I mean the game was over before the whistle to start the first half even began. We were nervous and city were supremely confident - polar opposites. We couldnt string a pass together we were so nervous.

Man just follow my posts. I'm not talking about how good we are now. fecksake it's like going around in circles.

All I'm saying is hes clearly not a toddler if he's capable of achieving some very impressive things last season. Saying he's lost the players is also just dim, they're running and working for him. Losing the players is what the squad did to Ole and Jose before they were sacked. Literally not give a feck and be thumped 4-0 by relegated teams.

Ten hag is pretty shite right now. I agree. He was also pretty good last season. And his overall win % as a United manager is not remotely as bad as what you want to claim. So let's not make shit up, shall we? Give that a go and see how you do.
Appreciate what you are trying to do here but emotions are way too high right now. Nobody is going to be reading what you're writing and giving your arguments a fair read. He will not be sacked until Christmas for sure so we might as well get strapped in.

He thought the league was going to be easy. We’d have been better off appointing Gary O’Neil instead of a bloke that has only ever managed in Holland.

At this point, hasn't every single manager than has come to the PL from Holland failed miserably? To name a few, De Boer, LVG and now ETH. I notice a pattern.

If you think they're running for anyone but themselves and the scrutiny that comes with not performing for United then watch a side like Newcastle or Wolves. We're not far off getting thumped 4-0 by relegation teams, once we're out of all competitions then we'll start to see those scorelines and that will be the end of Ten Hag, at the moment there's still something to play for on paper. His drop off from the Barcelona game in terms of performances and results might be the worst we've ever had, and we've had some bad managers in the last few years.

What the hell are you on about? I’ve seen nothing to suggest that’s true.

Don't kill me for this view, I like him but he has to go.

he's gone from trying to play progressive attacking football to being absolutely soul destroyed, stumbled past 2 teams that United have the quality to paste in the last week and his tactics today were baffling.
I know it's a makeshift back 5 but Bruno on the right was a shocker, it allowed Grealish, Bernardo and Gvaridol to do as they pleased, it removed Bruno from getting on the ball and knocking in through passes one of the few things he excels at, he played McTominay as they weird kind of Frank Lampard role and left Amrabat with an ancient Eriksn to try and stop an attacking midfield of Grealish, Bernardo, Foden and Alvarez.

Then he subs off his no.9 (who did look ok and best of Uniteds front 3 imho) waits till the game is dead to bring on any players with a chance of getting you back in the game. Not to mention United played the last 10 minutes like a team who were angry and had downed tools at the same time.

Good manager but it hasn't worked out I feel and he's so desperate he's making things worse.

Not everything is ETH's fault, but when pretty much everyone can tell the lineup is shit and you will lose, then you run out of support.

This is the same type of stupidity that got the other managers out, and that is playing players who simply do not deserve to play.

Our best performance this season was without Rashford, Bruno, Eriksen and Anthony. Then proceed to never play that same team again.

Jesus Christ! the amount of Ole posts here! Get over it people or acknowledge that he and Jose contributed to this mess with the player recruitment and tactical set ups. We STILL have Mctominay, Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Rashford, Bruno, Martial in the squad. That is not a collection of technically brilliant or physically strong players, at least not a title winning standard and it feels like groundhog day against City in that, either the counter pays off once or twice and we hang on for a win or else we get absolutely crushed by a technically far superior team. It's the same shite every year.

People absolutely slam LVG and rightly so but he's the one manager we had that tried to get us to exert control over games and use possession. yes the football was shite and boring but it was a style other than quick counter attacks. I'm tried of watching this style and i'm tired of these players.

To be honest it's tough to tell. I still do but I'm less confident now than a few weeks ago, and it has nothing to do with today's game.

I was very disappointed with palace Brentford and Sheffield performances. I want to see how he does in this next run and then see. He obviously won't have many lives so hel have to sort it out.

Fraud unfortunately. Hugely overrated, based solely off of a UCL run four years ago. In reality one game, two legs with one of the best individual performances ever.

Has zero nouce, tactically inept, cannot manage a game, huge nepotism in his transfers, just all round awful.

I'm out.

Four more games until international break
Newcastle in the LC, Fulham away, Copenhagen away, then Luton at home

If things continue like today over those four game, then I think the international break we'll be seeing a change
Only Luton sounds a winnable game.
losing 5 out of 10 league games, I am speechless! Need to stay away from this forum and spend time elsewhere so that our shit performance this season doesn’t negatively affect my daily mood.

I really want to like him but he’s making it difficult now. I can‘t defend the results we‘ve been getting but it’s not like we’re playing sparkling football either and I was someone who wanted him over Pochettino.

I don’t know who we go for either and with the nature of the ownership (something that definitely does not help him and I sympathise him for), who the feck knows what’s going to happen next.

I was cautiously optimistic appointing him but didn’t expect us to be playing bad and struggling for results 15 months later.

I dont think, I know. The pressing and running stats are far better than when the players were actually losing faith under Ole and Jose.

So yeah, you can exagerrate and make shit up but it's not going to fly.

Many bad decisions from EtH lately:

1. McTominay is not an offensive midfielder. He’s a box-to-box player with hard workrate.
2. Bruno is not a winger. He’s an offensive midfielder/playmaker.
3. Eriksen is not a sitting medfielder. He’s an offensive midfielder/playmaker and should be fighting with Bruno for playingtime.
4. Lindelof is not a left fullback. Perhaps he could work as a right fullback in lower divisions.
5. Rashford is out of form and shouldn’t be starting games games over Garnacho at the moment.

If we actually start playing players in their prefered positions we might start scoring goals…
