Eric Bailly | BBC say signing is imminent

I know that and he can still be "moulded" but is that what United want this year? more "potential"? I agree Blind isn't physically strong though, I suppose when he's drilled under Mourinho and has Smalling to tell him what to do when he goes wrong its a good learning process, but the transfer fee and other areas to still strengthen.

Mourinho obviously sees something there.

I promise you if you had watched him this season you would have seen something there as well. I have seen him regularely outperforming Mustacchio who is considered one of the hottest properties around in the CB department.

IMO defensively he is equal to Smalling already, and that being 4 years his junior. Also he is far quicker and stronger physically, while being 4 years younger. I also see more of a potential on the ball in Bailly than I do in Smalling. Already I would say he is equal to or greater than Smalling on the ball.

He is one of the best CB prospects around, and I have been wondering for quite a while why no one has been linked to him. If he was a Dortmund \ Atletico or Juventus player we would all be jizzing ourselves while slapping a 50m price tag on him.

Ok i slightly exaggerated but fees of £30 million are nothing fees anymore. Thats no longer a risky fee.
It's still risky but I agree they're much more prominent now. Clubs like West Ham and Sunderland are capable of spending that figure on a player now.

Fair enough he's one I can't judge, I couldn't really judge Depay last summer either not seeing much of him so reserving judgement for now.

Yes to be honest, I think more "potential" as you put it is a good thing, we have a lot of experience in the squad and definitely lack physicality. Besides, if he continues to progress as quickly as he has done in the last 18 months then by next summer there would be a lot more competition and the price tag could easily double. Mourinho teams defend very well and from the 7 or 8 times (not a lot so obviously not pretending to know any more than anyone else) I've seen him play I can certainly see why he'd be a Mourinho-type signing.

Not going to pretend I know much (read anything) about this lad but if this is true I really do welcome our transfer dealings under Jose. Get shit done, no fecking around, lovely.

He's not going to flip-flop over signings like Moyes and LVG... That's the attitude of a United manager.

Those are the traits we need to compete in this league. Very encouraging.

His pace seriously is ridiculous. I remember atleast two "wtf" moments in the matches I have seen him regarding his pace, and that is excluding when he hounded down Firminho for pace with zero fecks given in the first leg against Liverpool in the EL.

Looks like a Seville type signing. Hmmm

Ha! Sevilla are more like the villareal role in this, buying him cheap selling him high, Seville don't buy high, I see what you are implying though and it would be great.

Did he ?

Can't remember to well but the second season transfers where done very well(The double signing of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin)

In theory, can't say for sure as we haven't actually signed anyone yet.

Seems like he's going to be direct and get results, though.

Was all over this until i saw City, Barca and PSG are also negotiating with Villareal. No champions leaue may go against us on this one.

Don't know anything about him, but I'm still excited.

Edit: Ok, I'm less excited after seeing that Torres gif.

Doubt it. We'll offer more money and our name is bigger than City's.

His stats on whoscored dont impress much. In almost every way he is worse than Blind.

Would you like to compete playing time with Jones, Blind and Rojo or with Kompany, Mangala and Otamendi? Im not worry about City in this case. And PSG already has Marquinhos.

According to Sky, Barcelona, PSG and City all in talks to sign him.

The reports in Spain (which Balague linked to) say we've already agreed terms with the club and are negotiating with the player, so hopefully we can wrap this one up soon. Its noted he is not in the squad for Ivory Coast today

He looked fecking awesome in that ScoutNation clip. Strong, aggressive, good tackler... basically a black Vidic with technique and pace. Rough diamond for sure.

The most encouraging thing about this transfer, without knowing much about the player himself, is that it suggests Jose has been planning and maybe even working on transfers for a good while already. Really bodes well for the rest of the summer if we're able to settle 1-2 deals before the Euros.

never watch the guy(watched twice but didnt pay attention how he plays), watched the video from second page and he reminds me of Mangala, thats not good.
But the defence of Bailly and Daily sounds good.
