One of our worst ever transfers.
Behind Jessie too in the pecking orderSeriously if he doesn’t play after watching Matic vs Southampton, he should put in a transfer request.
well no because lingard is athletic, and mata plays out wide (who doesn’t actually ever play anymore either)No, he's not. If it was the physical side he'd still be ahead of Lingard and Mata.
He got carried by De Jong at Ajax and people couldn't see it. He's rubbish.
But how many times have Fred, Matic and McT underperformed yet they get chance after chance that’s bollocks.
No offence but your opinion is fecking stupid anyway what are you expecting when he gets a 10 minute cameo once per month
Fred? Lindelof?
Not even had the chance to show what is capable of... so what"s the point? Some not United standard players played on a regular basis for years. One of our worst ever transfers.
Since when does Donny play on the wingBehind Jessie too in the pecking order
Clearly I do because, as predicted, he's been awful. This is nothing new. He just doesn't have De Jong carrying the entire midfield for him here.well no because lingard is athletic, and mata plays out wide (who doesn’t actually ever play anymore either)
If you think he’s a bad footballer you clearly have no idea.
The problem is that while those have all had poor games, they all showed ability too. Donny in 30+ appearances even with a lot of them being subs, all he ever does is get the ball and pass it back or sideways to the nearest man.
I'm guessing it's reasonably likely he's not showing much more in training either.
Move/keep Pogba left and get VDB close to the pen box. It's an option, besides these players aren't playing like wingers so they'd have freedom to come on the insideSince when does Donny play on the wing
Yeah that's not how it works. Ole has a veto on any signing the scouting team finalizes. It’s obvious this is not Ole’s signing but the scout/system’s. Ole doesn’t even pretend to care.
Yeah that's not how it works. Ole might prefer someone over nobody. Doesn't mean he's fully behind a signingYeah that's not how it works. Ole has a veto on any signing the scouting team finalizes.
Ole was useless today with his tactics. And I am very much pro-Ole.Move/keep Pogba left and get VDB close to the pen box. It's an option, besides these players aren't playing like wingers so they'd have freedom to come on the inside
I feel your pain bro.Ole was useless today with his tactics. And I am very much pro-Ole.
I’m too upset to talk.
If the alternative was between signing him or no CM, any manager would not veto it.Yeah that's not how it works. Ole has a veto on any signing the scouting team finalizes.
Today he has played 60min with nobody/invisible as 9 so...I thought a "shadow striker" was something else.Yeah that's not how it works. Ole might prefer someone over nobody. Doesn't mean he's fully behind a signing

Did anyone really think he could cut it as a CM in the PL? I'll not pretend to have followed his career at Ajax in detail but even there, was he upto much in a proper middle 2? Genuinely curious because the little that I saw of him was a typical Ajax attacking mid. Great at quick pass and move systems and needs a team that plays that way to do well. We're miles from it, we need the individual quality that he simply hasn't shown and to make it worse, he's at his best where Bruno operates. If the alternative was between signing him or no CM, any manager would not veto it.
I suspect that’s happened with Fred under Mou too. A scouting signing that manager doesn’t like but no alternative. Both managers show similar approach.

So has he done what Zaha did to Moyes?
Ajax plays with 3 midfielders, not with 2 and a attacking midfielder. VDB might've been the most attacking midfielder, he wasn't a real attacking midfielder like Fernandes. So unless Ole was changing the system, this transfer would never work. But after a year and the first 2 matches now, i think we can safely say it's never going to work for him at UnitedDid anyone really think he could cut it as a CM in the PL? I don't think there will be too many games where he will play CM, not with the crazy attacking options we have now anyway. Pogba will partner Fred/McT when we go with a proper front 4 and VDB is a bit fecked given Bruno always plays.
It'll just become a transfer that'll get worse with time and neither Ole nor the scouting team can wash their hands off it completely.
