Why isn’t he and De Jong in the Netherlands squad for the euros?
Injuries I assume, I know certainly De Jong has a recurring injury which ruled him out and makes me rather glad he refused to leave Barca.

MonitoringWe're still 'monitoring' this?!
That is not „stereotypical injury prone“ as you called it. You might want to check the definition. Last year wasn‘t good but the two years before he missed 7 games in total./shrug

23/24 - 4 injuries, 20 games missed
22/23 - 3 injuries, 5 games missed
21/22 - 1 injury, 2 games mised
20/21 - 4 injuries, 28 games missed
So the interest on this one is indeed real

Didn't see those posts in the Brathwaite or Ugarte threadsIncoming "I told you all, ETH is still in charge of recruitment" posts

His wages will be extortionate and he has been a flop at Bayern. That is way above market value imo.42m seems a fair deal for a 24 year old in this market.

Yes let’s keep making the same mistake thenMore extortionate than what we’ve paid for the likes of Sanchez, DDG, and Rashford in recent years? What’s he on at Bayern ?
He's on around 350k per week apparently. Also shouldn't we be learning from those mistakes?More extortionate than what we’ve paid for the likes of Sanchez, DDG, and Rashford in recent years? What’s he on at Bayern ?

We should from stuff like that. If we give him crazy wages nothing will change.More extortionate than what we’ve paid for the likes of Sanchez, DDG, and Rashford in recent years? What’s he on at Bayern ?
You say it like there's no evidence it's indeed the case?Incoming "I told you all, ETH is still in charge of recruitment" posts

That was my impression but there's a Bayern fan here who has watched him far more than us who is saying otherwise.Yeah let’s go for another player who’s not been that good, has a recent injury record and a top club are willing to let go.

I find it underwhelming all the same.
Is it just me or is Ornstein posting a lot of 'possibles' compared to his usual factual reporting
This one is only 24 rather than the usual 30 year olds. This one to me is more "Robben/Sneijder leaving Madrid" than the old guys leaving.Yeah let’s go for another player who’s not been that good, has a recent injury record and a top club are willing to let go.
I'm all for this. Right center back, still young but tons of experience and a leader, physical has all the traits we need in that role... Negative would be kind of an injury concern? But profile wise he absolutely fits next to Martinez.
