Day 7 | Slovenia vs Serbia | Denmark vs England | Spain vs Italy

That pass by Kane for their goal was so so poor

Alan Shearer called out people who questioned Kane after he scored a goal.

Then you see his part in the goal England conceded, dropping so deep to get on the ball from a throw in of all things. Then later in the half he is trying to be Messi on the edge of his defensive area and tries dribbling out.

He scores goals, but hampers England in how he drops deep too often and can't engage in a press.

This England performance is so similar United all season. Players who we all no are good, suddenly looking so poor. Players like Rice, Foden, Walker, Stones, Saka, TAA and Belingham all play free flowing football for thier clubs with great one touch play but now suddenly can't deal with the press nor can make any sort of passes.
TAA for me has been a waste. He has barely been involved in attack and is not really good defensively. His teammates are barely passing to him. He isn't making himself available either.
Really need to bring on Mainoo to help retain possession and make some quick one touch play.

Southgate's ability to make a player as good as Foden look completely ineffective is impressive.

Alexander-Arnold shouldn't be playing in midfield. He doesn't play there for us (starts at RB and drifts in which is completely different). Trippier at LB limits England's options down that side with the ball.

Such a dull manager.

Also just doesn't offer any sort of running in behind threat, which with this wingers is exactly what you need.

Why the feck is Kane everywhere but up front?
When he was camping up front against Serbia he touched the ball once in 45 minutes or something. This team is completely incapable of giving him service if he plays like an out and out striker.

If Ratcliffe even for a second truly thought of Southgate replacing ETH, he should f*ck off right now

It is my understanding that the English are quite dissatisfied with Gareth Southgate's managerial work?

That graphic they just showed about England's average positionings before the goal compared with afterwards is damning. That's on the manager. We've got to be more ruthless and go for that second and third goals. You can't just defend 1-0s forever, you will get found out and fall short somewhere.

Is anyone remotely surprised?
I’m not.
We are getting schooled by Denmark.
This is 100% on Southgate and his complete incompetence

Agreed. I hated the fact that he didn't pick a LB. It's so frustrating watching the ball make it to Trippier, and he cuts back on to his right every single time. Having even an average LB would be better than this.

The left side is awful.
Yeah, the left flank is broken. Obvious issue before the tournament.

If the BBC thought ETH was harsh on Southgate they should have heard Guus Hiddink.

It is my understanding that the English are quite dissatisfied with Gareth Southgate's managerial work?

Yeah, but us Welsh, Scots and Irish are very happy with it, so he should probably get another couple of tournaments.

I don't buy that. We weren't looking good before the 1-0 lead either. Here's the thing so far in 3 halves of football we've scored 2 goals both quite lucky as well. 1 deflected cross and one mistake by the defender followed by multiple deflections on a pass.

Even when we are controlling the ball, we're toothless. Compare this to the amount of chances Germany/Spain create against teams that sit deep it's night and day.

They just remind me of Manchester United so much

Very obviously. Southgate is one of the worst managers I've ever seen.

To be fair this match has reminded me alot of Moyes last season, alot of getting the goal and then just defending what you have, hoping for the counter. Mind you at least with West Ham last year there was some structure to our attacking lineup, at the moment that feels like its lacking with England.

Who questioned Kane?

I can’t stand all the coverage.

They (Rio, Gary, Micah) have such a hard on for the so called elite players that they darent say anything to criticise them. It’s infuriating. Especially when the same players they’ve been bigging up all season…(Gordon, Eze, Mainoo, Palmer, Wharton) are sat on the bench

Always thought it was delusional to think this team could win the tournament. It's Gerrard Lampard part two: electric boogaloo. You can't have your cake and eat it. Other teams have done this for years and dropped massive players to fit the style and the team better.

Southgate on the other hand is taking advice and listening to this rubbish of "you can't drop trent and foden" who says? They're system players, they've done nothing for England.

He's terrified to ever make a bold call of benching "names" for the actual right profile a team needs, or employing a more bold tactic. Even down to immediately turning to Gallagher off the bench for Trent last game even though Gallagher is probably the worst CM in the squad but offers "passion and fight".

Also just doesn't offer any sort of running in behind threat, which with this wingers is exactly what you need.

Agreed and even though Watkins was pretty shite in a recent friendly he offers that and drifts along the whole front line to interchange.

Looks like a good player but it’s effectively Denmark’s midfield vs Declan Rice on his own. TAA is a hologram out there at the moment

I think he's a bit slow. For the rest he seems to be a decent player
