David Luiz set to become world's most expensive defender

You know what? I'm not a fan of these conspiracy theories, but I think you're onto something. This transfer doesn't make sense, no matter how I look at it.

PSG doesn't have a defensive crisis, the transfer deadline is still far away, and there are probably 10-15 better centerbacks they could have gotten for that price(or significantly cheaper).

Well it sure smells like it, wouldn't be surpised if we see some investigation into this transfer. Feck those clubs, shame on football they are !

This is really bad for us. They can match our Shaw bid now and he's a Chelsea fan. :(

He's not even a better defender than the 3 they've got in Silva , Alex and Marquinhos. Motta , Matuidi , Cabaye and Verratti are far better midfielders. This is quite easily the most retarded thing I've seen in football if the quoted price of 50m is true

He is a good defender albeit very cynical and conniving like Sergio Ramos. But £50m is scandalous. Having said that £50million to PSG is feck all.

Its the wages they wont match.
You really think Chelsea will baulk at wages? Cole, Luiz, and Eto'o who will be gone were all on well north of £100k per week. Wages would be no problem if they were interested in Shaw.

This isn't even remotely funny. Chelsea are basically getting free money meaning they'll be able to give FPP the finger and don't be surprised if they go on to snatch Shaw from under our noses. Meanwhile, PSG have just massively inflated the transfer market by setting the standard for stupid deals like this. Fecking joke of a club.

I always assumed Chelsea paid big wages but we had to more than double Mata's £70K a week to lure him here. Our journeymen like Cleverley are on that type of wage and wasters like Young on far more.

Mata wasn't a world class player when they signed him so that's why he wasn't on astronomical wages. He was probably due a new contract there until Mourinho returned.

I'll be literally fuming if this £50m figure is all media confusion and it's a straight swap for Cavani.

A Chelsea team with Costa and Cavani working like dogs without the ball then breaking at pace with Hazard and Oscar supporting is a terrifying thought.

How high would you be willing to go on wages for a young boy? Match Januzaj with his £5M signing on bonus and £60,000 a week? More?

Im not sure on the signing on bonus but I think hed be on something like 85k p/w which will be a wage Chelsea wont match for an 18y/o, I think the reason we will is 1. No CL, 2. Outbidding Chelsea.

They certainly wont pay an 18y/o north of what I think we are prepared to.

I have to say, its gone very quiet on my end and im getting a bit nervous about this one.

50 fecking million for David Luiz, the football market has gone mad!

Please tell me Woodward got the Shaw deal in time for all of this :nervous:

This really is ridiculous, I'm in shock if this is true. £50m can't be right, surely?

Yeah it's true, we pay more in wages than Chelsea. Only City pay more in wages than us in the PL

It seems we're in some sort of bubble surrounded by a parallel universe where Luiz is actually good. Madness that everyone seems to want him.

Compliments to Mourinho, he has played a blinder in the market and worked himself into a situation where he can build his team without going to Roman which can only strengthen his position .

How do Chelsea manage to get good fees for their players?
hmmm... does having a Russian owner ring any bell?
Not believing in conspiracy theory normally, but this look fishy. I would not rule out totally in the money laundering department but I am maybe half joking. lol

Calling him a defender is an insult to the position. I would say he'd be the most expensive useless footballer (considering the calibre of players sold around that price)

Er...Torres?

Utd laundering 37m to Chelsea as well?

That was just a scam by the Russian to con United to overpay! :)
Yes.....and every club knows Utd have a huge transfer budget this year and will have overpay
Ramires for 60m ????? Or top PSG offer for Luiz the clown. ;-)

Cracking deal for Chelsea. PSG are fecking mental, idiots could of bid half of that first time round and Chelsea probably still would of accepted.

Zouma & Van Ginkel will step in and fill any void Luiz will have left...

Its really an amazing deal for Chelsea.

This is still small beer compared to PSG's massive sponsorship deals with those well-known independent companies Harris Saint Germain ltd, Garis Paint Serman, & Platini Laundries plc.
