Right, kinda late to this thread so as a quick recap, is that 50m fee, or as the papers sometimes do, a fee + what ever wages they will pay him.

I assume its a full 50m fee which is laughable as he isn't that good

But PSG, Barca and Bayern and Brazil see something in him

Obviously, he's smuggling dirty money in his hair.

I'm not saying he is a bad player, but for 50m, there is so much you could do that would be better than that guy.
How do you know?
He might fit perfectly into the style of play they want. He seems to a good job with Brazil as proven in Confederations cup

I've been in and out of this thread a few times and I was hoping to see this becoming a joke - but if this really happens I just don't understand.

He's not the worst football player in the world or anything but I can't live in a world where David Luiz commands a fee of 50m pounds or even Euros for his registration as a football player. It makes absolutely no sense at all.

Either that or we are missing his elite qualities?

Photos are coming in now of Luiz arriving in Paris.

Sky are actually reporting now that he is in Paris having his medical at the moment. I can't believe this is actually happening :wenger:

Getting rid of Mata and Luiz for this much must make Mourinho feel like one of those people on the Antiques Roadshow that gets offered £50k for an old plate they were going to chuck out.

Imagine trading in Luiz for an upgrade like Vidal/Pogba/Rakitic.

That's probably what they'll do. Without spending a pound out of pocket.

Lol 50 million for Luis.

What is it with this kind of shit these days?

Have all the clubs got a massively overpriced disaster quota to fill before a certain date or something?

Liverpool- Carroll.
West Ham- Carroll.
Chelsea- Torres.
Manchester United- Feliaini
Spurs- their entire 13-14 squad additions.

Its mad that we could quite well end up with over 100 mil for Luiz, Mata and Torres!

We can buy players we need and stay well within FFP restrictions unlike City and probably now PSG.

And what is even madder is that it is probably still less than what you paid for them.

My guess is that Thaigo Silva are best mates and he is been telling the board to get Luiz. And the board is complying to keep one of their best players happy.

It seems insane. He has never been that good really and yet people are queuing up to buy him. I would argue that Smalling or Jones are better CBs, yet I bet no one would pay more than £15m for either, max.

It begs the question - bar Ronaldo, why do none of the players that we sell on ever go for more than minimum. Even people like Nani who has been one of the best wingers in the world is touted to leave for 10-12 million.

Personally I am not really bothered if we sell our players for big money. I think a club as strong as United is financially do not really need to worry about that.

You underrate Luiz then. Hes a starter for Brazil and Barca/PSG are interested in him with big money, he must have something!

Nani has been average to poor for a couple of years now, its no surprise that figure is banded about for him.

Because 10-12million is reflective of his current value. Just because he was at one point outstanding doesn't mean teams should pay for that when he hasn't reached those levels since & hasn't really been a permanent fixture for us at all.

It really is the most ridiculous thing I've heard, transfer wise, in my life. It's not even like he's young.

I wonder what PSG's fan thinks of this transfer.

Young enough to play for another 5+ years at the top level. What do a club like PSG who only value short term success care about what happens in a few years?

Yeah but he's not good either, this is now the peak of his career. Just don't understand anymore :wenger:
