Would I say this in an official interview and not mention my own performances with a single word? No. Doesn't matter if he has a point or not.
"I know the way" "I don't want to be at the club to fight for 6th or 7th"
He talks like he is too good for this club, when he hasn't done more than showing a couple of glimpses of former greatness so far this season.
If he had been leading the way by performing at the top level week in and week out, elevating the players around him (this is what leaders do), instead of finding himself at the solo bottom of the defensive statistics and being one of the most wastefull forwards in the premier league this season, then he could talk all he want. He hasn't. So he should do his talking on the pitch.
When you are the on top of the wage list, on top of career trophy lists, on top of career goalscoring lists and so on, it comes with enormous expectations and responsibility. You are expected to lead by example and then demand teammates to follow your example. It shouldn't surprise you when fingers are pointed at you when the team doesn't perform to the expected standard. Especially when all stats support the idea that the team performs worse with you than without you.
He can want us to be better all he wants, but he must start with himself (which he didn't mention with a single word in that interview).
