Copa America 2015 | Tournament over, Eboue misses the final, everyone lols

Knew that was coming the minute Martino put on Biglia for Banega...

And that's why you can't just assume Argentina will walk this. Bugger, I was hoping Paraguay had stayed as shit as they were in the qualifiers. Our game now will probably be us having to attack them, not great... Come on Jamaica!!!

Tata is an average coach.

And Argentina has no creative midfielder..been the case for 9 years now

Argentina have no midfield spine whatsoever.

And Argentina has no creative midfielder.
Yes they do - Banega. Trouble is they have no central midfielder, they go from an anchor man in Mascherano to almost a purely attacking midfielder in Banega.

Where is Fernando Gago?

Argentina had it coming, the midfield disappeared in the last 25 minutes and there was countless opportunity to bury the game for Messi et al.

Di Maria just played like for us, losing a lot of balls, but still creating chances. Frustrating though

...and with that expect a Brazil vs Argentina QF .

Di María infuriatingly erratic in his passing, Messi playing it way too safe when he was on the ball... Martino's subs succeeded only in draining Arg of any creativity in MF when they needed it. All in all, Argentina was nowhere near accurate enough in the key moments.

What a match. Argentina's midfield was missing for the majority of the second half. Di Maria erratic as hell and Messi not decisive enough despite weaving past players for fun.

Higuain was absolutely terrible.
It didn't help that he had barely any service when he came on, particularly when Tevez came on for Pastore and Biglia for Banega.

Argentina are desperately missing a deep-lying playmaker/box-to-box midfielder to support Mascherano. Masch is too aggressive and loose to be the lone defensive midfielder, and with Otamendi in defence with Garay, Argentina need more than just Garay to maintain the team's shape, defend the areas, and not just charge into every opposition player on the ball.

di Maria looked tired throughout the match, and he was also quite erratic on the left. He's so inclined to cut inside that he just doesn't suit playing on the left as his right foot isn't that good. He linked up well with teammates when coming inside, and he did create several chances, but he's still quite erratic on the left as his bad right foot means that he can't trouble opposition markers with his dribbling and skill. He's much better off on the right side where he made a name for himself.

Ah - I stopped watching at half time as I thought it would get the usual Argentian spanking of the underdog festival.

So the two Dortmund Ex-strikers put out their shooting boots in the 90s...

Not sure what Argentina you've been watching but the one I've seen over the last 4-5 years has rarely thrashed anybody. In the World Cup, for example, every win they had was by a single goal.

They certainly haven't thrashed as many underdogs as your own national team have within the same time period.

Giving Tata the Argentina job was the worst decision made at their NT level since Maradona's appointment.

I know he was only 2nd choice behind Simeone but still.

Messi needs to step it up. The chance he wasted after weaving through the congested middle he'd never waste if he were wearing Blaugrana. Some glimpses of his dribbling and a few diagonal passes to open up the pitch but overall I'm expecting more. 7/10 performance.
