Sums it up perfectly for meI’m not sure if it’s genuine rose-tinted glasses because I like him and still have his excellent first season in my mind, but I still think there’s a place for him and with the correct tactical set-up he still has something to offer - not as a certified first team player but he can definitely contribute still.
Legs have gone and still prone to some terrible hospital passes but technically decent and somewhat useful if not playing as a #6 and with a defensively astute midfield partner.
Obviously his wages are high and if a Saudi club came in with a good fee then United should probably accept though.
Given that he is here right now we might as well also come up with a plan to make use of him. That being said, that must not come at the price of our longterm planning of the midfield. We simply can't afford that sort of sentimentality. He seems like a very good guy, not shy to put his body on the line but he is so not the future of our midfield that we should have good reasons for giving minutes to him. Him being the best midfielder in 14th placed ManUtd just doesn't have much meaning.I’m not sure if it’s genuine rose-tinted glasses because I like him and still have his excellent first season in my mind, but I still think there’s a place for him and with the correct tactical set-up he still has something to offer - not as a certified first team player but he can definitely contribute still.

Not the best first half, but a good second.
Good to see him finding some form.
I know people loved him exploding at Garnacho, but the reaction came across to me more as frustration at (or more cynically, an attempt to distract from) his shit attempt at a tackle.
From the angle I've seen on socials, it looks like Garnacho tracks back albeit not rapidly, because it seems Casemiro and Ugarte (I think) have Neto covered.

Was nothing to do with the tracking back, it was his horrendous decision to hold onto the ball and refusal to pass it to any of three blatantly better options than running it himself. Not only did he not pass it, his attempt at shielding the ball was pathetic and he lost it too easily. I’m delighted someone finally gave him a tongue lashing. Way overdue. And I’m a huge fan of Garnacho.I know people loved him exploding at Garnacho, but the reaction came across to me more as frustration at (or more cynically, an attempt to distract from) his shit attempt at a tackle.

Looks much better in an. advanced position
He’s been decent no matter where he’s played this season. And no matter who he’s played with. He’s having a decent season. This isn’t all just some tactical master stroke by Ruud.
paired with mainoo and fernandes against liverpool.decent? wasn't too decent v Liverpool, our biggest rivals, he was woeful, subbed after 45 mins, responsible for 2 of their goals. Had a poor half v Spurs, albeit coming on that 2nd half was tough in a game we were being dominated, but still, with his experience, his performance was still abject. First half v Chelsea, he gifted them 2 opportunities, one chance, was his poor pass, which should have led to a goal, the 2nd was a poor pass from Onana to him. We've now come to the realization that our highest paid player cannot play in the defensive role he was bought for, due to an inability to track runners, wayward passing in the defensive third and rash challenges in dangerous areas. Even if he was decent as you say, is that a good return for what he is paid. He has looked good v Leicester 2nds, and PAOK. We need to see that against decent opposition though, he played a good pass to Hojlund for the penalty in the Chelsea game, but that masked an otherwise poor performance, where he gifted them chances and lost possession in good areas taking too long on the ball. Hopefully the new manager can elevate his game and the teams in general, as decent isn't good enough for any of them.
is that midfield 3 really that bad on paper. No matter who he played with that day, playing a big part in 2 goals to your biggest rivals at home is unforgivable. His biggest issues are the inconsistency in his passing and being caught in possession. Even in the recent game v Chelsea, a promising attack broke down in latter part of 2nd half as he was caught in possession on edge of Chelsea box. Those inconsistences are negated somewhat when he is played a bit further forward as we've seen recently with him playing alongside Ugarte. The first Liverpool goal was due to his slack pass that was cut out, 2nd goal he was caught in possession. Same in recent Chelsea game, slack easy pass to Ugarte cut out and Chelsea through on goal. The flip side is the wonderful pass he played to Hojlund v Chelsea that just shows what he can do.paired with mainoo and fernandes against liverpool.
it’s not fair to single any player out in that spurs performance. it was the nail in ten hag’s coffin, ineos just gave him a bit of extra rope to hang himself with to save face.
and for chelsea, footballers make mistakes, especially those in unsettled sides. he’s clearly gone up a level or two this season so far, and all his best performances have come when played alongside at least one experienced midfielder. we played eriksen in his first season and he looked a lot better then too.
expecting a 32 year old with so much football in his legs to be the sole midfielder in the premier league is asking for trouble. its part of why he’s booked so much. he loves a rash lunge, and has to make enough of them for two midfielders as he’s often left with multiple runners from the opposition. i bet he loved going from modric and kroos to this shit.
Again being a Portuguese speaker is only going to help, Brazilians and Portuguese have very similar philosophies, I Can see him getting a new lease but only if his minutes are managed, we need to get Angel Gomes who could play alongside Ugarte or Casemiro Or Mainoo and could even play as one of the 10’s behind the CF. We should be all over bringing Angel back especially on a low transfer or a free.Borderline excellent. It will be interesting to see how Amorim unleashes him.
considering we get beat by nearly anyone that presses us and puts in something approaching effort, yes. bruno isn’t disciplined in midfield and does what he wants, which is fine as he’s our only creative outlet.is that midfield 3 really that bad on paper.
Lack of viable passing options was the reason for those goals. Casemiro just happened to be on the ball when they occurred.decent? wasn't too decent v Liverpool, our biggest rivals, he was woeful, subbed after 45 mins, responsible for 2 of their goals.
