I didn't say he wasn't, but even that season wasn't close to the absurd purple patch he showed when just joining, which was what the quoted post hoped for.
Ah fair enough.

Yeah I agree. But we should see a very good Bruno, I hope.

Amorim's formation at sporting is a 343, where would Bruno fit in there?

Praying that whatever manage we bring in next helps him regain his form from when he signed for united. That version of him was fantastic
For us to get anything like what we got out of him in that first season or two the next manager has got to solidify the midfield behind him so he can focus on staying further up the pitch and getting into the box.

For large parts of that period our central midfield was Fred and McTominay, with Maguire and Lindelöf in protection. Managed by a so-called PE teacher no less!

You'd think as one of the inside forward in the front 3, however I actually think we'll see Bruno play in the pivot next to Ugarte/Casemiro.

No room for Kobbie in midfield then?

I'm watching Sporting goals and most of the assists are Brunoesque. I think he'll play as one of the forwards in that front 3 and he might thrive there.

This is an absolute nightmare for the Bruno haters. They expect Bruno to be dropped and binned.

I would say we see the fans who dont want Bruno in the team, 3 months in, if he is playing turn against the manager for not dropping him.

As long as the team plays well, I couldn't care if Bruno starts. It's the combo of bad performances+ Bruno always starting that have justified my criticism

Yes, that is a sensible take but there are many fans who will support based on team selection. Esp players like Bruno, Rashford, Garnacho...

Irrespective of the player, if they dont do what the manager is telling them to, I will be happy with the decision the manager makes.

Why the feck would anyone have an issue if Bruno actually plays well?

That's very interesting, if he can get back into scoring goals for fun like he used to, it might actually work out. His finishing this season has been atrocious, but let's see with the new manager

Hope you bookmarked that to make sure you can cash in on your internet points when the time comes.

As long as Bruno becomes part of the front 3, I'd have no real issue with it. But not sure, whether that role really works like that. Don't know much about the Trincao and Goncalves but aren't they relatively technical and good dribblers first and formost? The area of the pitch is usually quite packed so we'll see whether it works out or not. If the role fits I could imagine him being back to being very productive.

Good to finally see him scoring again.

He played so much better once he had that monkey of his back too. Was hit and miss up until he scored, then ran the show after that. His biggest flaw is forcing things too much. For himself - when he’s on a goal drought - and for the team - when the team is struggling. As part of a functional, successful team he will be a massive asset.

Like so many in our team, once the goal went in, he got out of his head and started playing well. If the first goal didn't happen, Bruno would've likely rushed the second chance instead of keeping as cool as he did. Really glad the deflection went kindly for him and hope he can find some sustained form now.

Very good brace, also could have got an assist. Improvement performance-wise

He's found some effectiveness again it seems. He's a litmus test for Amorim. Bruno doesn't need to be sold but we need to manage him accordingly, he should be subbed and dropped if needed.

Look, at one point he is going to be past it and then his annoying critics will finally be right (broken clocks etc). But the facts remain:

1. He is the AM with the most (?) goal contributions in the top 5 leagues since the beginning of 2020.
2. He is the AM with the most (?) chances created (also per 90) in the top 5 leagues since the beginning of 2020.
3. Over the last 5-6 years 5-6 different managers for 3 different teams have had him as their first name on the team sheet and usually refused to take him off during the game, even when he's playing badly.
4. He has been entrusted with the captaincy.
5. You cannot fault his workrate.
6. His defensive stats are very good for an AM.
7. He has been voted our POTY twice.

No matter how you spin things (excessive moaning, poor pass/shot accuracy etc), all of the above means something. He has been a very good player for us and if he still has some good years left then he will be a key player for the next manager too.

Contrary to some people on here I am certajn he will thrive under Amorim
I know he is going to play given our lack of alternatives, but is he really a good fit for the 3-4-3 formation, assuming that's what Amorim is going with?

One thing we can be sure of under Amorim is that Bruno will be out of position. I really don't see him thriving as one of the front 3. Really his only choice is in CM. Could definitely see him there alongside a ball winner but he'll have to change his natural game a lot.

Nice. You didn't even needed a 2nd line to establish that you are right, while others are wrong. I am buzzing for the rest of the post.

Has never been disputed

Argument by authority. Doesn't have to mean anything.
4. He has been entrusted with the captaincy.
...ugh...
5. You cannot fault his workrate.
Nobody did. Even though some his "busy running around" is doing more for his fans than it does for the team.
6. His defensive stats are very good for an AM.
They are. And if he would only play where AMs play, that would be great.
7. He has been voted our POTY twice.
Nobody disputed that he is the one of the very few players to at least shine a little bit among a whole host of dull'ness. So while that sounds great, it doesn't mean much for the arguments that have been made against the player. Being the best of a bad bunch is nice for a warm feeling. Not so much when comparing ourselves to our rivals.

Yeah with the fat contract he'd be an idiot to go away. If Amorim finds a way to have Bruno as one of the 2 players next to the striker, he definitely could shine. But from what I understood those players for Sporting had very good overall technique and while they also were good with passing (something Bruno is more than likely way better than them) he isn't known to thrive in tight spaces.
I know he is going to play given our lack of alternatives, but is he really a good fit for the 3-4-3 formation, assuming that's what Amorim is going with?
Don't think so. But Amorim will find a place for him, I am sure about it. Lets hope it is one of the first 3 - anything else can only go wrong (in my opinion).

Don't think that is even an option to be honest. Whenever Bruno has been good, it is close to opposition goal. The deeper it gets, the fewer the upsides to deploy him there. Being busy isn't the same as being a solid option against the ball.

Who knows what Amorim comes up with. Bruno and Rashford aren't ideal fits for his system when we strictly look at the skillsets of Sporting's in the respective positions. But I am sure the club told him that he has to find a way to integrate them and given that Amorim is supposed to be very clever and the players having a few things going for them, the coach will figure something out. And if that is something that goes spectacularly wrong then at least it is sign for the higher ups to re-think the status of those players.

Low bar, but one of our best players again. Should have got 3 assists today.
