Its the exact reason why this is all coming out, Brunos agent or Bruno himself wants the last big contract. At 29 going on 30 he wont get another big contract again after his current one runs out, not in Europe anyway.
Exactly. All this is to get a pay increase. If this new regime has any brains they will not renew and look to move on if the right offer comes along.

Want rashford out, don’t even need a replacement.

Open to Bruno leaving but it can end up being either like the summer we sold Beckham and bought Ronaldo or like the summer we sold Ronaldo, lost Tevez and replaced them with Obertan, Owen , and Valencia. So really depends on if the club has a suitable , superior , replacement lined up.

Based on the will sack eth won’t sack eth. I don’t think so.

If Bruno leaves , we have to move on , there's no other option.

I think we can replace most of his goal assist output with a player like Olise . It doesn't have to be an exact like for like replacement .

The creativity can be moved slightly wider into the less risky areas .

My main concern with Olise would be robustness , I doubt we can replace Bruno with a player as impervious to injury .

On the other hand , I think he is capable of playing the wider areas better than Bruno as he is faster and a better dribbler .

He wants a new contract and we shouldn't offer him one. We need to learn from our past mistakes. We don't need to sell him either, unless he really pushes for it and a big offer comes around. But he's almost 30 and has two years left, and is on a big salary already, we don't need to do anything else.

Pressure added by his agent after Bruno being promoted captain, and probably the only senior player this season that have performed normally.

He just signed a new contract recently and is tied until 2026 + 1 year potentially.

It's not the moment to rush.

Truth is I wouldn't sell him this summer.

He's our captain, our most important and best player and would be impossible to replace.

Also, you know that Saudia can come and get him in 3/4 years time.

Bayern sees the value in this but the CAF tells me Bruno is easily replaceable. All we have to do is play Mount or Donny instead, we'll level up and become a Cruyff like possession team.

Yep, who needs players that can create chances anyway, its all about having 90% ball retention.

It’s funny really isn’t it, the guy is paid nearly a quarter of a million a week but apparently it’s not enough.
He’s got a contract for plenty of years yet, we should tell him he’s getting nothing more and if he’s not happy he can feck off. No player is bigger than the club and that’s the mentality INEOS need to bring back, rather than the crap of protecting value etc.

I actually do find it funny that you think its just about the money. It is reported that he wants to know whether United have the ambition to compete. It is clear to see he wants to win a league title or a CL.

So in your eyes we should get rid of players that have that mentality that they want to win titles.

But you also prefer having player power right?

To Sanchos credit not backing down is about the most resilience and fire in his belly I’ve seen from him at the club!

Credit players for standing against the manager is definitely the mentality we need at United

I totally agree.

if he was 25-26 then I’d be all for extending his contract. But he’s nearly 30. There is no need for a contract extension at all when he has 2 years left remaining on his existing contract.

Does anyone actually say that though? I'd love to see some quotes.

Only Rashford and Casemiro are getting much more than Bruno according to this site.

Paying Mount that much is insane...
Player salaries in the UK is never public information. They’re also almost always never just flat basic salaries either. Lots of clauses and bonuses. Spotrac’s sources must be tempered accordingly.

On the Mount money — mental, I agree — but he was our marque signing this summer and we gave him the no.7. It was rumoured Chelsea were happy to offer him a high salary to remain, it only makes sense if our offer slightly pips that.

100% pal.

I don't even look at the score at full time. It's all about the possession stats.

People telling me about Bruno's chance creation when he's got 80% pass completion. It's like they don't know what's important.

When we lost 4-0 at Crystal Palace we had 57% possession. That's what we can achieve without Bruno giving the ball away all the time.

A completely unprovable assertion but it's apparent to me that ten Hag brought in Mount to succeed Bruno. That thesis will be tested in the next few days or weeks.

link?

Massive downgrade, hope not

I would say so too, but on the other hand if there is a such a thing as the ten Hag way perhaps Mount is the man for the job. As brilliant as Bruno is at this stage of his career he needs to win a major trophy before decline set in, whereas Mount has a long runway ahead of him. And the Mount we saw with Chelsea was pretty impressive.

We can’t just stop offering contract renewals because we’ve had a bad season. Especially at a club that has as many bad seasons as we’ve had recently!
Completely agree, aren't we sorting Mainoo's out at the moment? Offering Bruno (30 in a few months) a new deal whose best days are probably behind him now and who has a deal through to 2026/7 would be madness.

That all depends, doesn’t it? It’s completely normal for clubs to make their best/most important players their best paid players. That’s how you incentivise good performances, attract top players and retain the talents coming through. I have no idea what any of our players earn but if Bruno isn’t up there with the most well paid players then that’s something which needs to change.

So if United offer him a pay rise he's going to turn it down then is he? He's going to sign for Bayern on £50k a week to have a shot at a league title / CL. Get real! This is about money and getting one big last contract before his days in Europe are numbered. As for what is reported, a million and one things are reported and leaked on purpose, that's a very naive view. It's clear all players want to win trophies, it's also clear they won't do it without being paid a fortune to do it.

As for Sancho, my comment was sarcasm!

Absolutely agree, I have no doubt Bruno will be in the top 5 or 6 earners (now we've shifted a few), I'd be shocked if he wasn't. That being said I think the club will need to decide if they want to build our attack around a player who will be 30 at the start of the new season and has a contract already that will take him to 32/33.

Well our wages are to high as it is, and Bruno still has two years left on his current contract.
Ineos should not repeat the previous regimes mistakes.

Do we want to be RM selling Casemiro/Romaldo for huge money or do we want to be the teams that buy those players. For me it’s about incomings. Selling Bruno can either be like when SAF sold Hughes, Ince, Kanchelkis , or later on when he sold Beckham or RVN but United evolved and progressed. Or it can be like 08 when se sold Ronaldo, lost Tevez and basically started declining (despite the trophies and finals that followed )

Bruno is pushing for a new contract on par with the deals the clubs top earners so the transfer rumours might be just being circlated by his camp as a way to force the club's hand in the matter.

Not a fan of that

He is our best player. He is also going to be 30 years old next season. Giving 30 year olds long term high paying contracts is part of the reason for our mess.

United always knew when to put their foot down. They need to do that now

The way he's behaving, to me, is completely understandable and I don't blame him for seeing what's out there and looking for a bumper contract.

At the same time, we shouldn't give it to him. I also think we should pretty much refuse to sell him. Selling arguably our only world class player in INEOS' first summer sends a bad message and would act as a repellent to any top player we go in for.

So basically I think United as a club should.. do nothing.

The overrating of this guy after the City game is way to over the top. For the majority of the season he was terrible and most in here were rightfully pointing out just how bad he was playing. There is no way he should be getting a new contract, and if any offer above 65 million comes in the club should be selling him as he is nowhere near as good as his stats indicate.

Great player on his day but I honestly wouldn't be too fussed if he left. He's more replaceable than people here make him out to be.

If he's angling for a new contract then let him go. It's about time we start moving players on before they start to decline and he'll be 30 years old only weeks into next season. Take the money and use it to rebuild the squad instead of yet again giving a player approaching the end of his career a mega deal.
