Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

Absolutely disgusting. Brings to mind that huffpost article that resonated with me a few years back...

If you haven't read it then do.

The buildup to World War I is not a bad comparison.

Trump is every bit the disaster that Kaiser Wilhelm II was. Putin, Johnson, Erdoğan, Orban is quite the cast of unpredictable characters, to add to the upheaval happening in Italy.

My best bet for things kicking off would be a Turkey Greece conflict shattering NATO and parts of the EU and putin moving in to seize the opportunities in its wake.

Probably worth a different thread.

Leave.EU dropping the mask and showing everyone their hateful, xenophobic, WWII-romancing faces. The irony of being like the Nazis they claim to be standing up to is probably lost on them.

To WWIII brainstorming thread!

Be worth it if it happens right before Liverpool look like lifting the title.

I think all of us would happily have ourselves and all the people we know conscripted to the front line or disintegrated within the bowels of a nuclear explosion rather than live with Liverpool winning the league.

At least Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have won a World Cup that England have decided to share with them.

Knew I should have renounced my British citizenship.

I'd like to point out that Northern Ireland are the current British Home Champions. So if anybody should share that World Cup it should be us - in fact we should just claim it.

Seems like the least we should do.

don't see being in or out of the EU having any impact on that

If you are outside the EU you are probably required to provide an independent audit of your finances, if you are in receipt of EU monies they are unlikely to subject you to an independent audit since all their auditors are chosen from their own in-house register of auditors. Isn't it something like twelve years since the EU's finances were independently audited around 2006/7 at the same time of the Santer Commission scandal (Edith Cresson) in 1999 (multiple resignation of Commissioners) investigation finally got a result from the ECJ.

The nickname for the EU Commission/Parliament of the gravy train didn't arise out of nothing. In fairness the EU has gone someway to making things more transparent since then, (or maybe they have become better at hiding it!) but there are still 'grey' areas especially in terms of assessing/getting value for money, at all levels.

I still believe the Swinson thing is just a shot in the dark, someone hoping to get lucky, all the Party leaders are now under attack in the press and elsewhere, either directly or via the company they keep. Jeremy should feel right at home now he's no longer on his own!

This nonsense again. As long as people keep repeating their lies I will keep pointing them out.

Holy fecking shit leave really are letting the mask slip. Worryingly the campaign and government are one in the same.

When do remain call a spade a spade and stop trying to pretend we're not dealing with racists so as to keep up a pretence of being civilised.

Very happy Germany and France have exposed BJ BrExit plans as bogus and totally unworkable.

However, according to press, Government still making plans for no deal scenario during cabinet.

Did the Benn act write mechanisms to stop this: ie: if BJ refused to obey law, presumably he can only be held to account and charged on November 1st ie: after we have left.

Eg: would BJ be tortured until he signed a letter?! Can he be sacked before 31st so a temporary replacement can sign the letter?

This may have already been covered, but exactly how does parliament stop us crashing out with no deal on October 31st? What are the practical steps that would be taken and by when?

Am not talking about a VONC and establishing a GNU as that is a separate mechanism.

I really think the idea of a Boris majority is born from people's fears rather than reality. He's pushed away a lot of moderate Tory voters like my in-laws so whilst he might have electrified his base i don't see the votes for a majority.
And yet centrist Labour voters like me are also very reluctant to vote for Corbyn as their are several manifesto tenants which are deal breakers for upper middle and aspiring classes.

I have no idea where to vote right now!

Christ I hate being English sometimes. Really fecking embarrassing seeing that Kraut nonsense.
Who are these people and where do they live? Are they completely uneducated and without empathy for British history? Don’t they know their forefathers ran of of histories worst and most exploitative empires?

He’d be taken to court immediately. Probably the same court that the governments lawyer just promised that they would indeed send the required letter to comply with the lawyer. If they refused the court could probably then hold him in contempt and get someone else to write it.

The government planning for no deal though probably means they have a stupid plan to try and get around the rules. It’ll probably explode in their faces, like everything else has so far.

That myth was long since busted. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36276175

Not the Tories or UKIP.
If you consider Labour's redistribution of wealth policies go too far vote for one of the other parties who at least bother to put some effort into not looking like they're total cnuts.
Edit: Unless, of course, you're a cnut. In which case vote cnut.

Can’t vote Tory, can’t vote Labour, can’t vote Lib Dem......

And what are these reasons it can't be done?

Labour want to negotiate their own deal, they won't put May's on a referendum. Because they could conceivably have to do a 180 and ratify May's deal which they don't like and voted down 3 times. But there's no chance they'll get the support of the other parties to go to Brussels to re-negotiate, since every party has a different vision about what is a good/acceptable Brexit and what the negotiating lines should be. As soon as the extension is signed the GNU will collapse and we'll go to elections.

Not to mention that not all parties want a 2nd ref (like Lib Dems) at least not until a GE is done. Or that the Tories would boycott a ref that isn't Tory Deal vs No-Deal and no GNU would ever put that to the people.

They all face a worse alternative, a Johnson let Tory government hell bent on no deal.

This way they all get a seat around the table to negotiate something they can all compromise and agree on, then put that vs remain (possibly vs no deal in a 3 way preference vote if they're sensible) on the ballot.

The Lib Dens view on revoking is based on an election victory providing them with the mandate, that mandate can also be achieved with a second ref.

Truth is their minds will be made up for them by the decisions made in the next 3 weeks and the effects they have on the polls. If the Tories can navigate the process of an extention being granted without losing support to Farage then it will be a 2nd ref before GE, if it leads to a Farage surge at the expense of the Tories it'll be GE first then who knows.
