Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

Can someone explain to an outsider like me how it is even possible that a guy like Boris Johnson is considered a credible candidate for this job?

Yes that looks like the most likely outcome.

Rumours of an electoral pact between Boris and Nigel, too, which would obviously be pretty bad news for Labour in a GE.

Can't see anyone (Brexit party included) going into a formal coalition with the Tories after the ar**-wiping the Lib-dems got, but a pact between Boris and Farage that is a possible reality. With such a pact the GE, called post Boris's appointment, could change the face of the remainer HoC majority. Those voting Greens and Lib dem's will only have themselves to blame for 'hobbling' Labour.

Personally i think all the hype around Boris is overblown.

World we live in now. He's incredibly popular with grassroots Conservatives, and he's basically been spinning himself for the job since before the Brexit vote.

So the next PM will be unelected by the people?

An unelected bureaucrat will be running the country.

An unelected bureaucrat. Fancy that.

That's probably true, Boris has as many enemies in the Parliamentary Tory Party as he has friends; however in the party membership in the Country he is riding high. Most Tories I know believe May has made things so bad for the party that they would hold their noses and vote for Boris in any leadership election.

One interesting thing I've heard from some of my Tory friends (yes I do have a few) is to elect David Davies on a sort of 'Brexit only' ticket, then he is to resign once the blood and guts have been removed from the battlefield. Davies is apparently planning to retire at the next GE and would be personally 'fire-proof' in that respect, returning to stick it to Barnier and drawing the poison in the Party, would be an apt send off!

Interesting idea, wonder if it has any legs?

Tusk who persuaded the EU to give the UK an extension should resign now

Nah we're run by Brussels remember?

I was trying to talk about this to my Dad the other evening and kept referring to the EU as them, they etc I kept pointing out that we are part of them.

tbf to him, he would never vote for anything other that Conservative and he said that he would not be voting in the EU elections at all.

The last one was. One of the shitty parts of the parliamentary system.

Labour have got this totally wrong, their whole strategy has been to pursue a general election. But they will not make any gains if we do get one- people recognise that they have no concrete position on Brexit and this is the only issue that is important right now. I could see the Brexit party and the Lib Dems making huge gains if it went to a GE. Labour need to pick a side and stop sitting on the fence.

Was it crying or was it the demon trying to escape to posses another lost prime ministerial soul?!

Fear. The Conservatives are terrified of losing an election to Corbyn and have the resurgent big beast Farage to deal with. They will think that they need their own big beast to face these threats down.

Boris has first name recognition among the electorate and, while he is undoubtedly a clown, he is (at least in the eyes of the wider Tory membership) a charismatic clown.

because the only viable alternative is a jew hating commie... erm allegedly
In all seriousness though I suspect johnson will "work with farrage"... i.e. get him a nice cushy number doing very little but being paid a lot and between them they will fecking eviscerate Labour in a snap GE ... and the oh jeremy corbyn mob will still blame blair

This will tear up the Tory party, but not before Bojo or whatever clown takes the helm tears the nation up with a no deal crash course.

Under normal circumstances the self destruction of the Tory party would delight me, but unfortunately too much damage will have been done to the nation by then for me to feel smug about it.

The truth is enough of the electorate see him like this to make his brand toxic and doom labour to fail and virtually ensure the hardest of brexits... But meh I'm sure rolling eyes and chanting ooooooooh Jeremy Corbyn will save us from the impending economic disaster, labour implosion and tearing of the social fabric .... And hey if not we can always blame Blair right?

I hate that this is good news but very likely with worse news coming. Again, my whole voting life has been letdown after letdown, and watching idiot racists/nationalists or the very well off allowed to have smug grins on their faces. I hate this shit country.

I really want the Conservatives to be consigned to the anals of history. Pun intended

Saw on twitter "So June really is the end of May"

Anyway, good riddance to the witch.

Yes I fear that 6 months from now we will all be yearning for the hazy days of Theresa May.

Boris as PM, no deal Brexit, Farage with a seat at Cabinet and a big Tory majority in Parliament all probably await us.
